  • Senator McCain just might suffer from a top down point of view about veteran and military issues. The son and grandson of Admirals, he himself was a career Navy officer. Its doubtful that he considers the necessity and the needs of citizen-soldiers and veterans. He seems concerned about career military, but has nothing to offer veterans or footsoldiers and sailors and airmen. He appears to hold the view that Veteran's benefits compete with retaining military personnel, and has stated such sentiments especially about education benefits. As a veteran who got all of my college education on the GI Bill after one-four year active duty hitch, I find the Senator out of touch with veterans and common folk. Obama gets it.
