The U.S. has also denied the Pakistanis shot at its helicopters.  And that can happen, and the guys on the ground can be doing the shooting, and &lt;i&gt;nothing must necessarily be wrong with our relationship&lt;/i&gt;. Normally, this is the pattern: the U.S. does what it does, the government agrees to it in private but with the understanding that it cannot support it publicly because public opinion is so solidly anti-U.S.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;That's not the say the relationship isn't strained for other reasons, but it's a mistake to assume that all discussions happen in public.</description><dc:creator xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">Joshua Foust</dc:creator><pubDate>Wed, 24 Sep 2008 14:45:31 -0000</pubDate></item></channel></rss>
