Palin is frightening in so many ways one is not certain how to proceed.
If this woman wants to govern me? and my family? She is nuts, I prefer someone who is smarter than me! I want someone who knows their limitations because it means they will do their best to better their self! This woman is happy in her ignorance and that's fine for her if that's how she wants to liver her life but it isn't she wants to control MINE! Take away my rights! Burn books and consider anyone who does not agree with her a "hater".
I, and millions of others, just want her gone and back to the people in Alaska who deserve her since they chose to over look her inabilities and elect her!
  • Blair · 1 year ago
Alaska created this monster, now Alaska can take her back and live with the Palins' skimming Alaska's money.

Y'all might want to look into the overpriced fees being paid to contractors for enhancements to the governor's mansion that Todd dreams up, and who built the Palins' $552,000 house and what it cost them.

After November 5 that sort of thing will not be our problem anymore - at least from the Palins. We're curious though, if you find out, will you let us in the lower 48 know?

Please don't make us take her back!! We are suffering from many months of hangovers with the selection of Ms. Palin for the GOP ticket. It was appalling and unbelievable. The nomination has only highlighted her small town ethics and her narcissitic ambitious goals. It is sickening that this family is outfitted in $150,000 worth of clothing, but not surprising. Oh yes, what a good looking group. Never mind the juvenile delinquent son, the pregnant teenage daughter and the interference of an unelected, uneducated husband. What a great and normal family!!!

I am a REAL Alaskan woman and there is no way this woman and her husband represent me and my family.

Disasterous, dangerous phoney. Practiced pageant hand wave. Head tilts meant to convey gravitas. Tightened mouth and swallowed vowels. Annoying, affected accent during podiem speeches. Gleeful pride taken in scurrilous slanders of opponents. A real piece of work.

They say that this is not the Palin that came from Alaska, but I beg to disagree. The problem is no one was really looking at the details and it's very easy to keep the facts hidden when you control everything.
  • will3020 · 1 year ago
Thank God there are only a few days left of this election b/c when it's over.. she needs to take a one way ticket to Alaska and not come back to the lower (48). Only in Alaska can you get away with this kind stuff. She doesn't have the smarts to aquire professional staffers to ehlp her make decisons just shows that she definitely "shoots from the hip". And, to have Todd Palin give her advice about state affairs..OMG This guy thinks he is Santa Claus for heavens sake..lol He rides sleighs....

It is loud and clear if Mc Cain/Palin would get into the white house will be a complete disaster. They are both power hungry individuals and most likely will use their positions to be corrupt politicans and run this country further down.

You guys are funny, you bash this woman, and the sad reality is she has done nothing any of your candidates haven't done as well. Just part of politics. I could give a rats a$% who wins, it's all the same. That is the thing I love about you nit wits, you think it will make a difference. Your to stupid to realize we are being presented with two roads that lead to the same destination.

Oh - and on a note that is near and dear to my heart - Deanna - If you think Obama is gonna roll back some of those civil liberties Georgew Bush has taken, you need to put the crack pipe down It's not gonna happen. More importantly, her running mate is in no way ready to be the president. He is nuts.

I think even my up and down marriage was less challenging then this. All I can say to all of you who feel the same way, lets take a lot of deeeeeeeep breaths, count to 100 and let it all go. Find something funny on TV, yes there still is a lot of silly stuff there, especially before you go to bed at night. Stay healthy people, take walks, read a good book, it's still 12 days til election day. Thanks for letting me rant a little, U C
  • suzanne · 1 year ago
This is all pretty obvious.... she may have gotten away with her 'gut instincts' in Alaska .. but she is in the big time now, and quite frankly she has proven that she isn't ready for Prime Time

.... you can dress her up, but you can't take her out !

Such a contrast with so many capable and informed OTHER WOMEN ...

I had a sad moment for Hillary the other day when she said (paraphrasing) that nobody should
'assume' anything .... a lesson she learned the hard way, to be sure!

Hillary understands that while a candidate can be the frontrunner for a long time, at the end of the day, all that really counts, is the VOTE .... it would be a shame if Obama supporters took victory for granted, and stayed home on November 4.

GO VOTE EARLY if you can .... but VOTE ! Take NOTHING for granted, it aint over 'till it's OVER ....

GO VOTE EARLY if you can ... you or someone you love might get sick on Nov 3 or 4 and you
    might be unable to go!

GO VOTE EARLY if you can .... there may be problems at the precincts .... don't be caught out !

GO VOTE EARLY if you can ... Obama has been working his butt off for 2 yrs, just for this one
DAY .... don't let him down, when he needs YOU

GO VOTE EARLY if you can .... elections are won one vote at a time, and the result lasts 4 yrs!
  • jean · 1 year ago
people in KENTUCKY can vote now IF you he/she is GOING TO BE OUT OF TOWN on nov 4. don't lreally have early voting!? have to go to courthouse (i assume that's in all counties; was in mine), fill out paper and vote! with thanks.

From all accounts, politics in Alaska is very strange, the last outpost of "Anything Goes". It sounds very corrupt and self serving, both for the individual politicians and for the state. It does not appear to identify with being a part of the USA.

I, frankly, cannot take any politician seriously from Alaska. This woman is the same woman, just in different clothes and stuff. But, it comes to easily for her to shoot her mouth off and to express an ideology that no Republican ever dare speak so publicly even if they believed it. One thing I can thank this woman for, however, is taking off the mask of the radical right wing Republican Party that has had an agenda they were implenting for the past 20 years "while America slept". We are wide awake now, eyes wide open, and we are not standing for it anymore. I do not know, nor do I care, what Alaskans do with Palin on her return Nov 5th. I hope they will take inventory of their state and begin to clean it up. It must be the most corrupt state in the nation.
  • Ricardo · 1 year ago
I think the national attention of Palin, especially the negative, will have an impact on her political career when she returns to Alaska. She may recover, but it is going to take a while. Alaskans are going to see Palin in a new light and her activities now under a microscope are not going to look so good to Alaskan voters. Nixon was able to reinvent his political image after defeat, but I don't think national voters are going to ever think of Palin as a smart leader. Nixon, besides his many faults was pretty smart.
  • Karl · 1 year ago
Todd has a history of membership with the Alaskan Independence Party. He sat and listened for years to plans for Alaska to secede from the United States. He listened to Vogler spew hatred against America, and encouraged Sarah to tape a video to the AIP just recently. Todd is her closest friend and advisor? I find that more than a little scary.
  • HedgeBaby · 1 year ago
Very telling that Palin's "chief advisor" - her husband, was a member of the Alaskan secessionist party. And this woman has the nerve to judge who is pro-American and who isn't? Why are not Todd and Sarah Palin at the top of her anti-American list??? I hope the good citizens of Alaska have the courage to stand up and avail themselves of whatever mechanism their state constitution provides to boot this imposter out of office, once she and McCain have been passed over by the voice of America.
  • Lynda · 1 year ago
Shoot from the hip is the McCain synergy...we don't need two or three loose cannons to run the biggest office of our land...like Bush, she is an embarrassment and shame on McCain for putting her in that [position without vetting her brains (at least if she had any)

Thank God they are loosing...she is ambitious indeed...both her and Todd, John also...but honesty, she doesn't have a clue. I wish them well however, indeed, but not now, not this time...May all three go in peace...thank you, Lynda, Florida

Doesn't this mean that she is a big part of the Alaska Independence Party!!

What I'm missing in this article is what Alaskans saw in her before compared with what they're seeing now:
    1) What did the "hockey mom-turned politician" do that as candidate for VP she isn't doing?
    2) What is she doing as candidate for VP that she didn't do as "hockey mom-turned politician"?
    3) Sounds as if she was more available and less protected from the media and (others? if so who?) as governor.
    4) There are times I see and hear her as someone who is used to being in charge of her own campaign. She speaks with some authority and does not defer to McCain. (Not that I like what she says, but she seems to be her own person, or at least tries to be.) Are Alaskans hearing and seeing someone who is somewhat throttled by the campaign?
Can someone say more about the differences between Gov. Palin and VP candidate Palin?
  • Palmer Resider · 1 year ago
I am an Alaskan...I did not vote for Palin in the Governor election...and I do not support her for the position of VP

When she ran for Governor...she was running against Frank Murkoski who many Alaskans felt was no longer representing our interest and was as corrupt as most of the other Alaskan Republicans. Palin presented herself very well in the debates and she did not have that silly ancent. She never had any real substance...but she was going against Murkoski who had a very low approval rating in the Primary and then in the general election she was going against Tony Knowles (D) who was a two time governor and Andrew Halcro (I) who had a very long shot at the office. Palin had a lot of supporters....crazy supporters who were very protective of her...most of them knew her on a "personal" level because they grew up and lived in the same town. The media and a lot of the public were caught up in her beauty queen/PTA mom past and never really held her feet to the fire. You can see some of the debate from the election on YouTube

Reading the above makes it quite clear that Sarah shouldn't have Todd with her all the time. She must rely on her own experience, her own gut feelings.
Everyone discusses some things with their mate. Everyone that is close to their mates rely (at times).on each other For her to have him there all the time is NOT good, it intimidates
the people in the office. God gives us the wisdom to judge our problems and how we should handle them. Todd should have his own job and get his own salary. He should stand like a man...he looks like he is embarrassed of himself. He can win a snowmobile race...that's good, as a hobby. Take a correspondent course ... something of your own.
Don't hang around the office all the time. People don't usually do this (just because someone before you did it, doesn't make it right. I would think that this is against the law. Government business is confidential.
  • Valdar · 1 year ago
What is Alaska does not want Ms. Palin back as their governor? After every Alaskan has learned so many secrets about their governor, it will or should be hard for Palin to look her friends and supporters in the eye and pretend that she is the same woman. She is not the woman that many friends and supporters believed her to be.

I almost feel sorry for Ms. Palin. Almost, but certainly I will not vote for her. Well she always has her pastor and together they can cast people into the water to see if they sink or float...that should be fun.
  • old jersey girl · 1 year ago
Sarah is a narcissist. She cannot see how her words and actions affects others. Todd is her enabler, flattering her constantly and calling it "advising". Only a narcissist could believe they could govern with nothing to offer.
  • Sandra S · 1 year ago
As the old adage goes: "Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely." The same is true for the call of fame and money. Palin has been corrupted even beyond what she may have been in her state politics. Is she beyond redemption? Who knows. She will have to return to Alaska in disappointment, but I don't think she'll be happy there after having tasted the riches and adulation she has experienced in the rest of America.
  • teamrn · 1 year ago
SO? She's running for national office and is in the spotlight more. Something hit me that I heard on the news yesterday, something to the effect that , "If she'd NOT done anything, someone would have criticized her as white trash."

Sarah Palin is damned if she does and damned if she doesn't. The liberal media has shown no END in it's contempt for your governor.
  • SarahImpalin · 1 year ago
I'm glad that this comment did not include profanity. So it's not as bad as it could have been.

    1) She was criticized as white trash early on, because she is. Once she started opening her mouth, buying $150,000 of "anti-american" clothes, lying through her teeth about her ethics scandal, presiding over lynch mobs, and breaking down in a tangle of incoherent babble every time she tried to speak, people started criticizing her for what she did. Which is a lot, all stupid.
  • Palmer Resider · 1 year ago
I have to know...how much do you know about Palin and her family? Have you talked to anyone up in Alaska? She is from a small town and a small state (well just in people!). I am afraird that the mainstream media has painted an unrealistic picture of Palin and her family that is completely contray to the Palins who Alaskans have known since she was part of the school's PTA.
  • old jersey girl · 1 year ago

you really need a source to type something to the effect that "............". i'm not liberal media. it does NO good to use label such as that. esp in today's world. it's NOT WORKING ANYMORE.

she likes a camera, thinks of herself as pretty, likes a microphone and lights on for pictures. this part IS true. it's the running for national office that seems to be a MAJOR problem with lots of people. qualifications are needed esp when she's one 72 yr old heartbeat away from being president of U. S. A.
  • proudem · 1 year ago
Give it a break with the evil liberal media....that ship has sailed. For every liberal media outlet there is an ultra neo-con right wing outlet. Palin is unqualified and a bigot that does nothing but spew hate. She is McCain's albatross and he deserves the backlash that he is experiencing. There were pleanty of qualified women that he could have chosen but he gambled on an unknown and lost (or more accurately...will loose!).
  • RepubsRRight · 1 year ago
    LOL!!!!

More like that they finally see what their Governor is like!

C'mon theres only 600k people in alaska and only 100k voted for her.
Thats not many supporters for a state. Im sure 90% of them didnt have any idea what she was really like and they just saw her battle a republican once and liked it. They didnt realize a republican was just Low Hanging Fruit in Alaska to boost her career.
Heck most of their politicians are GOP, and most are corrupt. Its just logical she'd have to go after a REPUB to make a name for herself.
  • Palmer Resider · 1 year ago
You are absolutely right...I live in Palmer Alaska...the sister city to Palin's Hometown of Wasilla...and I can tell you that most of the non-crazy people I have talked to feel that Palin is not who they voted for. I for one, did not vote for, funny as it is, I didn't think she had the experience to be Governor and now I certainly don't think she has the experience to be VP. And althugh I was happy with Palin after she got elected...I would never vote for her again and I hope when she flies home on November 5th....Alaskans will keep a closer eye on her until she's out of office...and I hope she will be out of office the next go around!
  • Joanne · 1 year ago
As an Alaskan, it is painful to watch what has happened nationally and how our state has been presented. She represents one side of Alaska, but shows nothing of the people who protect our environment here and truly live a down to earth lifestyle. Unfortunately many of us will lose either way here. If she loses, she'll come home to a truly disappointed group of people. We had hoped for much more in this woman, we were too intrigued with her persona but neglected to learn about her substance. For many of us, she will no longer be the governor we hoped for, for those of you who wanted her as a VP that should make you wonder.

Sarah Palin probably wants McCain to lose and Stevens to win but be convicted. She can then appoint HERSELF to replace Stevens in the US Senate.
  • VincPro · 1 year ago
The Palin's are TOTALLY out of their league. What worked in Wasilla, Alaska will NOT, and NEVER will work in the lower 48 population of millions. The Palin's intellectual mind set is incapable of comprehending the responsibilities and struggles the American lower 48 people encounter on a day to day basis.

The Alaska Economics and Politics is not going work. The vague language and dancing around the questionable issues is unintelligent. That is the reason why she desires to change Washington DC to hers and Todd mindset, so, they will be able to control the lower 48 in the matter in which they can understand it. But, how can you change what you don't understand...Chief Adviser Todd/ Gov Sarah Palin!?!?!?
  • Rusty Austin · 1 year ago
My guess is, if McCain loses, she will not be re-elected in Alaska but rather will concentrate on 2012. Again, if McCain loses, the republican party is going to retrench, with Palin at the head of the religious right and either Romney (most likely) or Guiliani out in front for what's left of the moderate wing. It remains to be seen which wing will prevail, again it's just a guess but it seems to me the religious right is on the wane, their hypocrisy cannot survive the youtube age. It also may be, god willing, that the religious right turns to the AIP or some other rump party and separates entirely from the republicans after 2012.

If McCain wins she becomes the odds on favorite for 2012. If that happens I plan to get drunk for a few nights, then roll up my sleeves and get back to work...

I think Palin has disgraced the citizens of Alaska. Now everyone in the country knows they have extremists there calling for Alaska separation from the US. They are receiving more Federal tax dollars per capital than any state in America, and are receiving fat oil companies hand outs. What where they thinking when they elected her Governor? Where they thinking they would get more Federal money? Every heard of a welfare state? Someone needs to cut off that flow of money to Alaska, and start spreading the wealth to all Americans.
  • Gary · 1 year ago
Palin is a fake - she has never even seen a soccer field. Someone who spends money on clothing the way she did just disgusting. The least she could have done was buy it from businesses in her own state of Alaska. I feel sorry for those people, because she will be coming back as governer when she loses with McCain.
  • Independent voter · 1 year ago
the problem with Sarah Palin is that she is completely ignorant of issues outside of Alaska. I have no doubt this is a very smart woman, but she's completely lost on the stage as a candidate. I am deeply offended at her attacks as well since she apparently feels her 'executive' experience trumps the years of experience that Senator Obama has in the legislature. Interestingly enough I could have voted for Senator McCain - but after this selection of VP there is no way I could do it. This woman lies as easily as some folks change their socks and this frightens me after the Bush/Cheney reign. We can't tolerate another liar. I understand that all politicians 'stretch' the truth but she just can't say anything that passes the smell test.

These NRP's are the core of what needs to go if the Republican party wants to go main stream again someday. The moderates better take over and get rid of the good old boys. I changed to Independent status over the Bush folks. I have already coast my vote for Obama. Three years ago, it would have been for McCain. He lost me somewhere along the way. He lost his inyegrity. He'd do anything to be president. I'm betting if his dad and grand dad weren't admirals in the Navy, he never would have made it through Annapolis. Just a hunch. Their clout had to be worth something. Nothing will ever take away from his experience in the Hanoi Hilton and it never should. He was a courageous man. That doesn't make him presidential material.
  • simplysimon · 1 year ago
Why is McCain not being beaten up over being a COLLABORATOR IN VIET NAM. GOOGLE him: "John McCain Collaborator". In there is the reason he didn't come back early: only collaborators came home early. If he came home early, everyone would know that the admiral's son soiled himself and his country by making at least 32 public announcements crapping on the US of A. And he sells himself as a hero and anyone who still thinks him a hero after his shoddy behavior as a soldier, is being made a fool of. Including the prior comment on "Nothing will ever take away from his experience in the Hanoi Hilton and it never should. He was a courageous man". Sorry, he wasn't. And the low level he's flying at in this campaign, it will be the 4th plane he's crashed.

Palin may very well return to a much more hostile Alaska. She was riding on the coattails of an over-inflated price for a barrel of oil that delivered huge profits to her state. People were willing to give her a pass with respect to her management style so long as they shared a piece of the profit pie.

Well, the price of oil has plummeted and as a result, the Alaskan economy will suffer. Her statewide ratings have already dropped 20 points, and the increased scrutiny of her conduct while governor has given many Alaskans another perspective of her leadership. I suspect we have only seen the tip of her "mismanagement" and "abuse of power" iceberg.

By the next election cycle, Sarah Palin will very likely no longer have the positive image or clout to contend for the presidency. In fact, she may be lucky to get re-elected as governor.

The more I read about Sarah Palin, the more shocked I am. I didn't think it was possible to be this ignorant, uneducated and self righteous and have citizens in our country actually take you serious. Sarah Palin is a manifestation of the level of maturity in our country. Very shocking that if you just talk like 'Joe the plumber' it somehow makes you available to understand the average citizen and also lead them through very COMPLEX and difficult situations. Ask yourself, do you think you should be president of the USA? If the answer is no, then you just answered the question about Sarah Palin.
  • Dave · 1 year ago
Independent voter: Like you I am an independent voter too. But unlike you I don't think Sarah Palin is very smart. I also could have voted for John McCain, but after he chose her, I knew he was cable of making terrible choices. Also the Republican Party has turned into the Christian Party. I do not want to live in a Theocracy like Iran, Saudia Arabia, Pakistan, etc.. These are countries that are oppressed by religious 'believers'. Emphasis on belief and not truth or fact. I don't have an issue with religion, but it needs to be private, personal and kept out of government.

Sarah Palin is not smart at all...she's shrewd...she's ambitious...I'll even give that she's an attractive woman. But, if you take an objective and intelligent look at her past...her associations...her self-absorbed rise in the nasty and cut-throat world of politics, her Swengali, Todd Palin, who knew that his little Sarah had great potential in that world, well you have the makings of a canned but marketable politician. She is not very intelligent by any measurable means but shallow and opportunistic enough to know what her "audience" want to hear and sells it.

I know people in my small New England town who are EXACTLY like Sarah Palin! They are bullies, tenacious, know-it-alls with limited education, well connected (in town and in state) and have no qualms about breaking laws to suit their purposes. I worked in this town's government for 10 years and from my experience, I learned that it takes a lot of time and effort to see these "real" shams who runs things for themselves and their friends alone. They can make it sound as though they are for everyone, but they are seriously laughing behind their backs. And what still astounds me is the number of town residents who will bend over backwards for these people even when they are getting the shaft over and over and over again. Unfortunately, the town's people simply can't imagine that these truly nasty individuals would treat them so poorly, and can't see it because their shenanigans are so easily hidden in the mires of meetings and paperwork.

Dear Alaska - you've now had your chance to see the real Sarah Palin and you should be sending thank you cards to John McCain. I only wish John McCain would have called one of the people that I know to be his vice presidential pick. I'm very jealous.

This is only the tip of the Gov. Palin iceberg (pun intended ;~) ... check out the story on SarahPalinTruthSquad.wordpress.com about the long running resentments Sarah Palin's been building up for years against anyone she felt stood in her way ...

    http://sarahpalintruthsquad.wordpress.com/2008/...

It's really scary that this manipulative woman could become President of the United States either within the next four years if John MCCain were elected but was unable to serve out his term, or in 2012 when she is sure to run for president.

Todd Palin is Rasputin . . . he is the puppet master pulling the strings . . . he actually scares me more than she does . . . always on stage, waving and smiling like he is the one running for office . . . I think we are getting a two-fer with this one . . . the secessionist and his celebrity-crazed wife . . . nice pick McCain . . . "Country First???"
  • Karen · 1 year ago
Have you watched how Cindy McCain keeps a hawk's eye on her hubby. Today, I actually saw her steering him through a crowd with a clenched jaw. Kinda scary looking.
  • ldb · 1 year ago
I echo your feelings about Todd. He isn't behaving as the normal spouse to a Governor. He was sitting in on her business as Governor. He is not sworn in. One person said he is acting as a lobbyist... Well it seems if Palin were to be elected VP we would have a co-VP or President in Todd and he is just not being looked at all for someone acting this way. If he had his own phone in her Governor's office and sat and worked at the table in her office... that's just crossing line!!!

Fortunately it doesn't look like McCain?Palin will win so it is just left for the people of Alaska to decide what to do with her.

I am very curious to see where the polls are in places like Alaska and Texas next week. As we get closer to election day, I think Sarah Palin's negative impact becomes stronger.

Unfortunately Senator McCain couldn't get the VP pick he wanted (Liberman) so now he's stuck with Sarah. I wonder how much say Todd has had these days? I would guess that nothing will be the same for her, especially in Alsaka where every stinkey, underhanded action she did while Mayor and Governor made has been flashed on the national TV screen. Oh well, Alaskans are different and probably think she's great. Afterall they have a long list of crooked politicians that keep getting voted in year after year. Think Murkowski, Young, Stevens. And as long as those oil revenue checks keep coming in they'll love her because she stands up to those socialistic, terrorist lovers in the lower 48.
  • vernbvb · 1 year ago
I question the initial agenda of the Palin's within the Governor's administration. With the Palin's and close friends running the state, it would be easy to win over most of the citizens with ploys like yearly oil royalties which could increase as the Governor or Todd saw fit. After winning over most of the citizenry, the next step might be to convince them that they are a self sufficient state. Then the move toward secession although not attainable would be an easy sell. Todd Palin is the fly in the soup. Does he still want Alaska to secede from the United States?
  • afgail · 1 year ago
Todd Palin the family member who joined the Alaska Independent Party that wants to secede from the United States is her SOLE adivsor? Alaska is screwed. And the Republican party is finito. The demise of the Republican party is long overdue and much deserved.

It remains a mystery to me how any woman (and men for that matter) would believe anything she is saying... She is EMPTY, ILLITERATE, and simply is unfit to be a VP, let alone a President.....(I mean, Mc Cain can die in 2 years, either from old age or the possibility of his melanoma history) and then WHAT ON EARTH is America in for then? She is too ambitious, too willing to say anything to get in to office, and has no respect for women at all and especially our young generations of women to be (imagine being 15 and gang raped and Palin says you should keep that child, that is what God wanted, give me a break!!!!) She is truly backwards in her thinking and so UNFIT to run for a VP candidate position, this hopefully will become more and more clear as the next few days go on.
  • Carol Bronder · 1 year ago
They are NOT believing it. The MEDIA IS PLAYING THIS WOMAN UP and EXAGGERATING HER POPULARITY in order to PROVIDE AN EXCUSE for another STOLEN ELECTION? The polls show her negativity is CLIMBING. So they trot her out and fill our screens for another round of scripted "interviews" which she STILL manages to blow, and yet they continue to assault us with her. SHE IS THE HAND-PICKED PUPPET OF THE NEOCONS AND THEY WANT HER TO BE THE MUSE OF THEIR POLICE STATE. GOT IT? GOOD. NOW TRASH THEM AT THE POLLS. VOTE IN OVERWHELMING NUMBERS. AND IF THEY STEAL IT AGAIN, DO NOT LET THEM GET AWAY WITH IT. I DON'T CARE HOW MANY COPS THEY PUT IN THE STREET. THIS TIME WE FIGHT!!!!

Honest??? How honest is it to call her experienced on foriegn affairs because she can see Russia from her house? How honest is it to say that as Gov, she is in charge of the National Guard? How honest is it to call her an expert on energy? She is woefully underqualified and yet she puts her ambition about the best interests of this country. She's a bigot and a racist. But you are right....maybe she is an honest bigot.
Jealousy? You have that term confused with disgust.
  • Tom Guba · 1 year ago
Honest? Hmmmm... I don't think so.... Ethics violations in Alaska... Using her "power" to try and fire her ex brother-in-law.. and having her husband use her office to push it thru.. and then firing someone because he would fire the brother-in-law... When mayor of Wasila, having women who are raped charged for the rape kits... The Palin's are for Palin's.. Period!!!
  • dragonlady52 · 1 year ago
HONEST! Compared to WHAT? Bush/Cheney? A little research will show that at least half-if not more-of what comes out of her mouth is lies. She also comes off as being uninformed and uneducated-and while that certainly isn't a crime, I don't think it's a virtue in anyone holding public office. But she obviously IS ambitious-and with the above mentioned characterisitics it makes her dangerous.

Yeah, trust us on this! She is not a doofus, so don't pay any attention to how she speaks or answers questions! Betcha she was quite different when in Alaska---maverick, smart/sharp as the tip of a caribou's antler! You see, don't you, with or without glasses and hindsight is 20/20, if she was as dumb in Alaska as she has portrayed herself to be in this prez campaign, what does that say about Alaskans who voted for her? Slim pickens between Stevens and Palin, and Palin being the lesser of two eveils/dolts????????????
  • dragonlady52 · 1 year ago
This is simply more evidence of how unqualified she is for office. The $150,000 sprending spree is more than just an affront to voters-it shows not only her sense of entitlement and her acquisitive streak but incredibly poor judgement. Did she really have no idea how that was going to play on the news?
The GOP claims she always intended to donate everything to charity after the election. (If you believe that I have a bridge to nowhere to sell you.) And how is she going to donate the $4700 haircut? Cut it off and sell it on eBay?

I am an Alaskan, like Palmer gal, but in Fairbanks. Also did not vote for her. This whole process is like having a black sheep in the family with all its attendant dirty laundry ending up on the National Evening News. Many of us are ashamed, but mostly outraged. Her main qualification that got her elected as Governor was that she was NOT FRANK, as in Frank Murkowski, our least popular Governor in history. (Though she may end up going up against her own party for that title too.) You folks in the lower 48 might check out articles in the Anchorage Daily News or the Fairbanks Daily News Miner (newsminer.com, especially Dermot Cole column) for more info on our now infamous Governor.
  • Karen · 1 year ago
From watching Gov Palin these past two months, I believe she has advanced only on her looks and personality. I find her to be uninformed on the most basic issues, unable to articulate an intelligent opinion and lacking in good judgment (e.g. her appointments of unqualified people, her abuse of her office's power). No doubt after the election, the Republican Party will drop her like a rock.
  • alaskan4alaska · 1 year ago
Sarah Palin was elected to replace the least popular Governor in the nation. Alaska is traditionally so liberal that the GOP held up statehood for forty years as they did not want another west coast Democratic State. Women got the vote in America in 1920, in Alaska they got the vote in 1881.
When oil started being a big issue the city of Anchorage went from a small town to more than half of our population. Many are recent families following oil patch jobs. Wasilla is a bedroom suburb of Anchorage.
When McCain/Palin lose the election, she will be returning here. I can hardly wait to see what the "pitbull" will do to the liberal small towns in Alaska when she see how we voted.

SCARY! Mr. Palin is not an employee of the State of Alaska, however, he is present at official meetings - why? Did not anyone question his presence? State business emails are going to him also? The company I work for, if any "business email" is forwarded to any person other than the individual(s) who has accountability for the work in reference, that individual is immediately terminated! Companies have an obligation of securing business information and government I believe too! Now, I could be in error, may be in Alaska, there is an "open-door" official policy that allows Mr. Palin to shadow the Governor, I doubt that!

Is it me, or do these differing actions not call the process of state business into question? Taking your spouse to work, come on!

Excuse me, Alaska -- what in the hell were you all thinking? Or was her election stolen? Please explain!

One Alaskan's view: After the appalling term of the previous governor (Frank Murkowski) the broad sweeping FBI investigation into corruption in the AK legislature, and complete arrogance of old time Republicans up here, I think a moose could have won that election. Seriously. We didn't need to know a bunch about her because all we needed to know was Murkowski was horrible and on the surface she seemed like a decent straightforward reformer. Palin waged a clever campaign as a maverick (sound familiar?) and made a big deal about how she stood up to the "good ol' boys." Which, to giver her credit, she did do. The state of AK politics at the time was just embarrassing to a lot of people (Rep and Dem) who were tired of the corruption. She didn't face the serious vetting and challenges while running for governor she has had to as a VP candidate. She's a lifelong AK who can talk about and his familiar with the issues facing our state (and let's face it: the expectation of your qualifications for being the governor of a state with 670,000 people vs. the V.P. of a nation of 300 million are lower). Another thing that worked in her favor when running for governor was her Democratic opponent had been governor of AK before. He would be more of the same her campaign claimed. Keep in mind too, that Alaska is still an overwhelmingly Republican state. Any Democrat running for statewide office has a heck of a time winning. Though I DEFINITELY DID NOT VOTE HER (THANK GOD!), I like many Democrats up here, felt at the time that she was the best selection of all the potential Republicans for governor. Those of us who are Democrats in AK need to think of the glass half-full whenever we can. Knowing Republicans will still run the state, we saw her as the lesser of evils. You've got to realize too that she ran a very non-partisian friendly campaign. Even though her views on family , religion, and marriage are conservative, she downplayed them and didn't make them a priority when she was elected. Democrats felt like she was genuinely reaching across the aisle. And until this summer she was. Then came Troopergate. Then McCain picking her for the nomination. Now we are seeing that "the emperor had no clothes" (guess that is why she spent $150,000 o the RNC money on clothes!) What is really ironic is that all of Palin's harshest critics here in AK when she was running for governor were the "good ol' boy" Republicans and independent conservatives. Damned if it didn't turn out to be they were the ones who got it right about her!
  • mark steen · 1 year ago
Hi Carol......Believe me, there are many here who are not Sarah fans. When I was a kid the State of Alaska was a Democratic state......there were few Republicans. The oil corruption changed all that, and we are reaping the reults now with Palin, Stevens, Young and all the locals who were on the take. Sarah is a religious nut who appealed to the wing-nuts, the Independents, and some Dems because former governor Frank Murkowski was totally insane! We had 8 good years with Democrat Tony Knowles as governor. Alaska, alas, has changed. Maybe we will swing back the other way. Sarah is NOT going to welcomed home with open arms, believe me. That 80% approval rating is sinking like a stone. You can check it all out online at the Anchorage Daily News, an enlightened paper that won a Pulitzer Prize.

I don't have a problem with her wearing nice clothes and looking nice, but when you sell yourself to middle America as a regular gal with a family, you better not make a mistake and go Hollywood elite. I too am an Alaskan. I did not vote for her and will never do so. It wasn't that hard to look good in the eyes of Alaskans after the reign of tyranny, I mean Murkowski, was brought to an end. A monkey could've been the most popular Gov up here, and I wish it had, 'cause I don't want her back. I'm willing to take one for the country and have her come crawling back (with my fingers crossed for impeachment). Better for us 670,000 to suffer for the rest of her term than the world.

And don't believe for a second that we Alaskans aren't sick with disgust over our politicians. I still can't see how these folks get elected and more importantly, stay in office. I like to attribute our "red state" status it on the fact that Alaska is over run with military and self serving business owners. After the VP pick though, we also get to be terrified and embarrassed over what the country (and world) think of us. So I guess that sums it up....disgusted, terrified, and horribly embarrassed. Thanks Palin, Stevens, Young, dot dot dot

LoinAlaska: I couldn't agree with you more! I too am an Alaskan who is only willing to have her back because I don't want the whole country to suffer. And I am also sick of the "me, me, me!" attitudes that infect our state - people who only see Alaska as a place to get rich quick and strip its resources. They want no "gov't interference" and they don't want to pay taxes, but they still feel entitled to services those things provide. I doubt they turn down their PFD checks!

I hope the best thing that comes out of this is that Alaskans will be so disgusted with Palin and the pitiful state of integretity in AK politics that it inspires more decent, honest people who care about their state and their country more than power trips and money, to run for office. And maybe some of the more selfish voters will be embarrassed by the mirror that has been held up to Alaska by the national media to realize they should rethink their selfishness. PALIN CAN NOT KEEP UP WITH MISS CUTIE PIE MRS. McCAIN AND ALL OF HER CLOTHES. WHAT ABOUT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WHO DON'T HAVE CLOTHES TO WEAR TO WORK OR FOOD ON THE TABLE LET ALONG SPEND $150,00000 SO SHE CAN LOOK LIKE SHE IS WALKING OUT OF NORDSTROMS . THE PEOPLE EXPECT HER TO DRESSED NICELY BUT NOT IN THE BEST DUDS IN THE BEST STORES. SHE NEEDS TO GO BACK TO WHERE SHE COME FROM AND TAKE CARE OF THE PEOPLE OF HER GREAT STATE AND WATCH FOR THE PLANE FLYING OVER FROM RUSSIA WITH THE FORMER PRESIDENT LOOKING DOWN ON ALASKA.

An Alaskan's View of Sarah Palin:

When Sarah Palin was asked about the Ninth Circuit Court's ruling concerning the words 'under God' in the Pledge of Allegiance, she stated, "If it was good enough for the founding fathers, it's good enough for me." (as reported in the Anchorage Daily News) The Governor seemed unaware that the pledge was written in the 1890s, and that the words 'under God' were added only in 1954. The founders would never have written such a pledge.

Ms Palin's ignorance of history was also made clear when she referred to wildlife officers as "brown shirts", inadvertently comparing Alaska State Troopers to Hitler's Brownshirts, the Nazi paramilitary organization.

Worse than these gaffes, however, is the Governor's refusal to support an increase in the maximum family-income limit for children's health-care coverage in the SCHIP program, now set at 175% of the poverty level, one of the stingiest in the nation. This is an embarrassment for a state awash in oil money.

She claims to support families with special-needs children but slashed 60% of the special ed. budget and cut state support for the Special Olympics.

We Alaskans would be laughing our heads off about John McCain's pick if it weren't such an insult to this country.
  • Stunned · 1 year ago

You got to be kidding!!!!!!!!!!!! Sarah Palin is not qualified let alone her husband. What does he do? Let's see - he gets into snowmobile races, and he runs a fishing business. That sure qualifies him to run the country. If she becomes the president we sure are in trouble. I juess he also worked on the pipeline. And they both can see Russia from their home. Look at Sarah's interviews, she just is way over her head and really she should just bow out and put the Country First.

Maybe Alaskans don't recognoize Sarah Palin because she isn't the person she portrayed herself to be when she was running her own version of the good old boy's club out of her Wassila home, just as she's not the maverick reformer she's trying to convince tus in the lower 48's that she claims to be. Fact is Sarah Palin is a fraud, a self invented demagogue who like a piece of aplastic silly putty becomes what ever is politically espedient to boost her conniving, cunning, self promoting agendas. Imagine how truly dangerous this woman could be if her intellect scored anywhere near the level of her dishonesty and deceit. God... just think of it... Dick Cheney in a skirt and makeup.

Suddenly everybody's successful in business. I really do happen to be a modestly successful businesswoman and (very) small business co-owner and I wouldn't hire her because she's not qualified for our profession. If she were a good architect, I'd hire her. She might be terrific at something, and she may be a wonderful wife and mother, but that doesn't mean she's qualified for just any old thing like being vice president of the United States. Good Lord, people, raising a family is important and demanding (and exhausting), but even being really good at it doesn't make you qualified for anything else you decide you want to do like, say, being president or a brain surgeon.
  • jim · 1 year ago
AMEN... now not only an embarrassment to all women, but all politicians.

I can't imagine being a top Republican politician and having been passed over for Sarah Palin.

I like to think she doesn't know the harm she is doing to AMERICA, not Barack Obama, but AMERICA. I like to think she is being told to say these things and she is so shameless she will in an attempt to be the VP. I like to think that they are not letting her see the reports on TV of what the rest of the country is saying about her. It's easy to imagine that when I see Sarah "being herself" in an interview like Katie Couric's.

I, a liberal democrat, was among the 80% of Alaskans who viewed Sarah Palin's tenure as governor favorably. All I knew was that she threw Frank Murkowski out of office, fired the GOP Chairman from his job as Oil and Gas commissioner, and in general was standing up to the entrenched oil and gas industry. Once she started running for VP she turned up the rhetoric in a way that we had never heard before, and at the same time we started hearing a lot of things about her that had not been reported in the local press (e.g. book banning, running gov campaign from mayors office). She is an embarrasment to the state, and while she has many supporters here still, not everyone loves her.

Palin rose to power in Alaska with support from a small paid staff and an army of volunteers, but without the help of a robust strategy team. She relied on her own judgment and that of her closest adviser: Todd Palin.

Are you kidding? Palin rose to power with the help of the AIP's Mark Chryson and Steve Stoll as well as the religious right. Both powerful and savvy political groups. She hasn't changed. She simply has not been able to hide her true nature under the scrutiny of national media coverage. Palin was elected governor on a campaign platform that was exactly the opposite of her current positions. She did this with the aid of the AIP and the religious right. She is not smart enough to run a campaign by herself with only her husband as her advisor. Alaska is rather insulated from the lower 48 and itself so Palin's dealings and corruption wasn't widespread knowledge. Now more and more people are finding out about who she really is.
  • Cathy · 1 year ago
I'm not surprised by this at all. McCain was able to hide a lot of his nastiness for all those years in the Senate. Believe me, most of America had no idea who the real McCain was. He's not that he's changed that much -- it's who is always was and now he's in the spotlight. He was called McNasty in school.

And, BTW, who is mind the store in Alaska right now?
  • justme · 1 year ago
Todd's roll? ummm I guess you mean role. I wonder which word might be more appropriate. Maybe Todd DOES roll around in Sarah's administration... but wait, who's minding the store? The governor's not there to do her important job. Hubby isn't either. You know, she has ever so much more executive experience than Barack, and taking care of Alaska is her job...but they seem to be getting along without her. Hmmmmm. Do you suppose Barack's campaign is based on the idea of organizing communities....as in "community organizer?"
  • Stunned · 1 year ago

I've been dying to ask Alaskans....WTF. I know you had some corruption that created a political vacuum but damn! I've never been up there but I know this is not the best you have to offer. Do the lower 48 a favor and take her back and then work like heck to defeat her in the next election. She thinks she can be president and she will probably run the next time around. All of the republicans that are praising her now through clenched teeth will be savaging her in the next election cycle. They can't say what we all have come to see. Not yet anyway. I get the feeling that back home in Alaska there are some people who have been offended by what they have seen from the Gov. and I'm not just talking about political foes. Maybe this episode will awaken real political discourse in your state. The combination of corruption and the Palin experiment have not served you guys well. I'm a 31 yr resident of Southeast Alaska (and yes SE Alaska is very different from Anchorage and the Interior) The reason Sarah Palin was elected Gov in Alaska was that she was NOT Frank Murkowski. I'm shocked by her accepting the invitation, but who wouldn't... Well I wouldn't , but everyone needs to know that Not all Alaskans voted for her and we are not just like her. Please know that there are a lot of Obama supporters here who are hoping for a strong Dem turnout on Nov 4th. I'm a bit worried what going to happen in Alaska when she returns on Nov 5th. This article makes Sarah Palin sound like Goldilocks, a sweet innocent child. Give me a break! Have you read anything about her association with the Alaska Independence Party (or about the AIP's association with right wing secessionist groups like the Neo Confederates)? Or how she won the mayors job by spreading rumors that the former mayor was Jewish, when he is actually Christian, because his last name is Stein? Or about demanding that the mayor produce a marriage license to prove he was married to his wife? Or about how she tried to position one of her AIP supporters in the City Council seat she vacated upon becoming mayor? Or about how, as Governor, she may have committed financial statement fraud in covering up losses in the state owned Mat Maid Dairy cooperative?

Let's get the record straight. This woman is a neo-con and a right-wing whore.
  • Steve · 1 year ago
James - I'm interested in your claims re: Palin, but your language leaves me cold. If things are as you say, the facts would be bad enough. You don' t need to undermine your credibilty with a rant.
  • strangelet · 1 year ago
How is that a rant? Oh, I guess 'cause he phrased the issues as questions?

Well, as it happens, she did campaign for mayor on the basis of "finally getting a Christian mayor for Wasilla", even though the incumbent WAS a Christian. She did falsely allege that he wasn't legally married to his wife. She did try to get one of her AIP buddies onto the city council. And there was some pretty strange goings on with respect to the Matanuska Maid Dairy.

You can explore these matters further through the use of a remarkable technology called "google". Try, e.g., "Palin Matanuska Maid" or "Palin Stein", and glance through a few of the resulting links.

And you might google "rant" to see what the word actually means.
  • Sammy · 1 year ago
    James,

You forgot to mention that she was conducting secret Alaska State business on 2 separate Yahoo accounts: gov.sarah@ yahoo and gov.palin@yahoo, before the hackers know as Anonymous hacked into the accounts in September and gave the contents to the AP.

There is also the Troopergate affair, where the State independent investigator found that she was guilty of abusing her power as governor in pressuring (and the firing) the former Public Safety Commissioner for not firing Trooper Wooten, her ex-brother-in-law.

And now there are the more recent concerns that she has been flying her children and husband around the State and the country and billing the air fare to the State of Alaska's? She refuses to work in the Governor's mansion in Juneau (the 1st governor who refused to move to the capital) and has been charging the State per diem for living in her own home 40 miles outside of Anchorage each day that she works in her Anchorage office.

And how could you forgot the African Witchdoctor (as seen on YouTube) who cast the evil spirits from her in front of her fundamentalist congregation in Wasilla, AK? And everyone was worried about Reverend Wright!?!

So much to Sarah Palin, and more to know every day. Public vetting is such a harsh way to go.
  • Ruth · 1 year ago
Right on, James. Tell it like it is. Most people don't know the whole truth about this sociopath. She is evil and dangerous. It would be one thing if she was just stupid, but she takes the modicum of sense that she has and couples it with her shrewd sick ambition so she can drive the stake of her far right zeal into the heart of decent people EVERYWHERE (in the "American" and "Pro American" states)in this country. She should be exposed - every day, in every way, continually, until she goes back to the state that sadly was gullible enough to vote for her. Hopefully, they see the light now. I enjoy seeing her negatives soar, because that is exactly what she deserves, and far worse. She's a hypocrite who's willing to lie, cheat and steal for her own gain - and noone else's. If most people knew who she really was, they would not only not give her their vote, they'd come after her with everything they have. She is exactly what this country DOES NOT need right now, or ever.

What bothers me the most is that she doesn't seem to have studied much about governing or systems of government. Palin says Obama is socialist, but we've had socialism for the rich for years -- when people work a job or two jobs and then the taxpayers have to pay for foodstamps for them to feed their families or for healthcare for them and their families -- that is socialism for the companies which employee these people and for their overpaid executives. But Palin has the gall to call Obama socialist? And she teams up with a man who has voted against providing healthcare for kids. Give me a break.

As a grown woman, 24 year old Sarah Heath, was knocked up by her lover Todd who liked to pal
around with members of an organization whose members hated America. The American public has a right to know how many other lovers who hated America Sarah Heath "associated with between the ages of 19- 24? The fact that she approves shooting innocent animals from a helicopter reflects a cowardice she learned from her dim witted father. The fact that voters of Alaska elected this foolish woman (anti sex education advocate) and allowed Todd to serve as co-governor leads one to perceive Alaska as populated by voters who have low ethical, intellectual standards. McCain says she is the most popular Gov in our country, 80% approval rate? Who created that poll? When? How large was the sample and how representative was it in terms of representing all voters of Alaska? If the poll were taken today would Alaskans be as stupid as they seem to be after watching Sarah Palin act
like a buffoon during interviews with professional reporters?

  • Mlu · 1 year ago
Well, Alaska is different. Not only is it larger than Texas, it is spread out as far as population. Southeastern is made up of several little burgs on various islands along the strait. Ketchikan is probably the largest of those and it is shrinking, as are the other little burgs. In a recent conversation with my brother, he told me the largest employer in his burg is Community Services ( government services). His burg is also shrinking and although his wife was raised there, when they returned after a 15 year hiatus working and living in Juneau they are treated as outsiders. That translates to less than friendly and accepting. This is consistent with my experience when visiting family. In the 70s there was logging and lumber mills, most are now gone. The small burgs are shrinking as people get together the money to leave, jobs are scarce.

I have visited there over the years (starting in 1971) in part because my parents and brother moved there after I was married. My father often stated that the politicians in Alaska were 'corrupt' and he couldn't understand why people voted for them. He particularly disliked Ted Stevens and I am sure he would feel the same about Palin. BTW, the last I heard Palin's popularity had dropped to 68%... but even that is too high.
I have on several occasions been told by residents there that 'This is Alaska, not the lower 48.' And various other references to their difference from us. And yet, they quite happily are supported by the government in the lower 48. The towns on the mainland may be larger, but they have some of the same problems. Jobs are in construction and on the pipeline and often seasonal. Leisure time is hunting, fishing, and drinking. My point is, Alaskans are different. People go there for different reasons. To them, this is probably their day in the sun. God forbid we have a rerun of her and Todd in 2012.
  • Jennifer · 1 year ago
It has dropped to 60% according to the Anchorage Daily News, still too high I agree but better. Thanks for the perspective on my home state. I wonder how many people on these blogs who accuse Alaskans of rolling in wealth while the rest of the country struggles realizes that AK Native villages are some of the poorest, most struggling places in the country. Sure Alaska has got a lot of wealth, but just like the rest of the country it is being hoarded by a privileged few.
  • Marriea · 1 year ago
Now that Sarah Palin has put herself 'out there' for all of Alaska to see, I wonder if she will be able to retain her status of governor if the Republican ticket fails.
I wonder if many Alaskans put a lot of thought into who they were electing as their governor when Palin ran. Really outside of town she served as mayor, who really knew her. And although Alaska is a state in area larger than Texas, it only has a population of about 700,000. Many cities in the mainland has more.
Now that Sarah Palin is known by that incidence/interview with Katie Curic, do the Alaskan really want someone with her expertise or lack there of.
  • Jennifer · 1 year ago
She got elected because her Republican predecesor Frank Murkowski, was the most arrogant, worthless, SOB governor our state ever had. Until now of course. Paline was a good actress, and she didn't have to face that much scrutiny because we were just so happy to get rid of Frank (I still didn't vote for her though - thank God I don't have that on my conscience!)

I think she is the same person but most people are just now getting a national view of her like the rest of the world. As the one gentleman said. "He didn't think she was experienced enough to be the governor of Alaska" and now John McCain wants us to invite this woman into the White House as a person who is only a heartbeat away. I don't think so. The sad thing is that I believe John McCain has become just as much a danger to this country as Sarah Palin!

There is a drive here. Sarah and Todd have teamed up to wank the system in Alaska. Under the scrutiny of the national stage and the New York and Washington punditry she was stripped to the bare intellect that she purports. Hence the knocking and whine at the of the intellectual "elite". Three cheers for the run on sentence! I wouldn't let this woman near my Ford Aspire much less the tanking economy. As for John McCain, gramps can't keep it straight anymore. The wheels have come off the straight talk express and all he has left is a walker and a trophy wife to push him into his grave. Do lighten up on the Alaskans. We just returned and while there found plenty of folks who are as outraged as all of us "Outside." They're working hard to campaign for Obama. Problem is, national news isn't interested in telling their side of the story. Did you know that local Republicans tried every dirty trick they could think of to prevent the Women Against Palin demonstration in Anchorage, in early September? A local radio shock jock even broadcast the organizers' names, email addresses and phone numbers and encouraged his listeners to call and email them. They were called names and received death threats. When that didn't stop the women from going on with their plans, local Repubs then tried to get their permits pulled. And it goes on and on...

Don't underestimate Palin. She and her hanging-onto-the-apron-strings husband may not be sophisticated but they're clever and ambitious. And will stop at nothing to get what they think they should have.

We complain about right-wingers making broad sweeping statements such as that liberals are "anti-american,", they are all "elitist" etc.... Is it any better when people put down all Alaskans like this without knowing anything about our state except the crap being spouted by Palin and her supporters? Now I know how people in the South feel when they are painted with the "all southerners are redneck, bible thumpers" labels.

Is this something she learned or does it come natural? Hearing how she dismissed everyone when she became mayor because she demanded loyalty makes me think she is a bit ruthless. And the final nail in the coffin for me was her interview with Charlie Gibson when he asked her what she thought when Senator McCain asked her to be his vice president and she said SHE DIDN'T BLINK. Folks...there are a lot of smart Alaskans who are still shaking their head at Palin's election. But the woman is not dumb, she is ignorant about most things that required any intellectual rigor. Give her a short term goal and she will go to it. What is remarkable is her and the first dude's membership in AIP the secessionist group. There is a YouTube video where Dexter Clark, the current Leader of AIP talks of Sarah Palin being a member and she stayed a member when she was Mayor or Wasilla because that was a non partisan job. But when she decided to run for Mayor, she knew she had to go along to get along and she became a Republican. He goes on to say that AIP encourages their members to join either of the political parties, they don't care which, they just need them to get themselves elected to offices and they can't do that as a known AIP member. Once they get in there, then the AIP has a friend. Can you imagine what AIP guys thought when she became Governor? And, they were over the moon with McCain's choice. This soccer mom is a Pitbull in sheep's clothing. Can't say wolf, she shoots them. But I think she may well be the manchurian candidate in this race. Just think about this article...she has no advisors that anybody knows of but Todd Palin, because they guys are still doing the business of AIP..who has the utter gall to create private email accounts to keep state business from being seen? She goes back to Alaska tomorrow (Friday) to testify about Troopergate to the State's Personnel board, all of whom she appointed and all of whom she can fire at will. We are sure they will listen to her testimony with an objective ear...NOT The other thing nobody is talking about is that fact that this troopergate issue is about her ex-brother in law Mike Wooten, who is a state trooper and she wanted him fired. BIG BUT, on January 1, 2000, she wrote Mike a glorious letter of recommendation to the State Troopers to get him that job. And she wrote it on Wasilla City letterhead. This is what I mean about being ignorant. What Mayor writes a letter of recommendation for a relative on official city letterhead??? You simply do not do such a thing! The letter was in a forum post by an Alaskan onwww.adn.com.The poster said members of the State Troopers wanted the public to see this glowing letter she wrote for Wooten. Seems Wooten began seeing another woman and dumped Palin's sister..thus he's reaped Palin's scorn.

What is there to say? All I can say is that the woman has literally threatened the base-line of Democracy. Because of her Republicans from the Bush years, (i.e. Colin Powell, a former press secretary to President Bush etc.), the Mayor of London a staunch Conservative actually supports Obama. Most of the transfer of about 15 Newspapers that backed McCain have crossed the line to endorse Obama. Oh yeah, the economy had a lot to do with it including her $15,000 shopping spree to Saks and Nehman-Marcus. I think your Beauty Queen has forgotten she's not running for President she is only a fill in. She might understand if I said being VP is kind of like being the runner-up, she's only a fill in for the real Miss America.

I pity Alaskan citizens who expect to have their Governor return and handle the important governance issues of their state. Yes, with McCain's upcoming loss, Governor Palin will return to Alaska but with bigger plans for her future and little time for the pressing issues of her state. She will be a big fish in a small bowl and will recoil from dimmed spotlight of Alaska. This woman is already branding herself for a 2012 run and will be busy over the next years building her coalition and financial backing from social conservatives, ditto heads and evangelicals for that future run. Governor Palin will be indeed busy but not with Alaska's business but with her ambitions. Do you really think she is going to be content returning to Alaska without her fawning Republican base cheering and screaming her name? The last two months have been exciting for her. With her new name recognition, cheering conservative base and Neiman Marcus wardrobe she thinks she is ready for prime time. Alaska will seem small and pedestrian for her newly-felt power. I never doubted this woman's confidence and ego. Let's hope she mercifully falls off the radar screen once she returns to the great state of Alaska. I suspect if McCain has anything to say about her at the campaign's end, it will be, "Woman, get thee gone!" McCain looks like he is sleep walking when he is around her. No doubt he resents her crowd appeal and her ability to eclipse his spotlight while she actually fails to add substantively to the campaign or his declining polling numbers.

Sara Palin scares me, I do not see her as stupid at all. She very clearly has her own ajenda including I believe asperations for the next election. The future of our life as we know it will most certainly change with this election. A friend sent me this incredible website that has garnered over 400,000 hits since October 3rd. This 82 year old woman says it like it is. Some of our wisest citizens are elderly, they lived through the Depression and have no fear in saying what they feel whether we agree or not. Aside from the very frank language used by Margaret/Helen (friends of 60 years) and the responses, I find the comments inspiring, it crosses all ages, genders and race from several countries. 400,000 people think, reflect, and pass it on to their families, grandmothers, mothers and friends all over this great country. You are free to disagree, but it warms my heart to know that outside of this southern town people are thinking and trying to make the right choice for the right reasons, the issues. http://margaretandhelen.wordpress.com

If the Republican party is to survive they are going to have to reform. It is not possible for them to win with the base they have now. Sarah Palin will have to become a better informed candidate. Her fake, folksy manner soon becomes agravating and certainly does not appeal to those outside the base. She also needs to take voice lessons to improve that whiny voice. It will take more than designer outfits to win the Republican nomination.

Grandma Jean, I agree with you that the Republican Party needs to reform. The least that they need to do is stop allowing Christian fundamentalists to dictate to them and hold them hostage about issues that effect us all. They lost me years ago when the religion became part of the platform. Our founding fathers were brilliant with separation of church and state, but apparently not brilliant enough.

The whole thing minds me of Eliza Doolittle in the musical, My Fair Lady, adapted from Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw. Seems that the McCain camp got totally off track by trying remake Sarah Palin into the perfect woman. How ambitous of the RNC to choose as its subject a vulnerable married, mother of five (including a downs syndrome baby) who was facing a hearing (for abuse of power). While the nation became preocuppied with Sarah, a lot of things fell apart in Washington, like the economy. If we find John McCain joyfully singing, "We Did It" after this election, the whole nation needs analysis!

I know this may be a hot button comment but if both Palin parents are on the daily campaign trail, who is caring for the 6 month old infant? If choices include having children, as a feminist I find it disturbing that both parents appear to be quite far away for long stretches of time. This is about real family values. I know what raising healthy children requires and while we must pursue our adult careers, this just does not seem to be a balanced life. I had given them the benefit of the doubt and assumed Todd was covering as dad-- if he is with Sarah every day and also consumed with this campaign, who is taking care of the baby? I realize the Obama family have two young children but an infant is a different story. I think its unfair to the infant if neither parent is there to wake up with it at night, etc. It's just another Palin paradox, eh?

Well you can see the result of their neglect with their 17 year old Bristol. What if the Obamas had the family narrative of the Palins? No double standard here right? It is not even clear if Todd has a high school diploma. He is a member of the secessiost party of Alaska who' s leader, Joe Volger has said he spits on the constitution of the United States and on the American flag. Sara Palin addressed this party at their convention in 2006 and expressed her support and told them to keep up the good work and keep the faith that they would be successful in seceding. Google Joe Volger or the Alaskan Independence party. Why the main stream media or the Obama campaign does not report this is mind boggling. All Alaskans are aware of it.
  • Pauly · 1 year ago
She's a secessionist supporter. What do people expect? Enabling people who try to reject our constitution, our flag, our laws, it's likely one would be a bit extremist. And arguably be in violation of her oath. The part about protecting us from enemies foreign and domestic.

She's probably pallin around with militia members enough to have gotten her a foot in the door. Did someone tell McCain she was his running mate? She may have been more demure in Alaska but polititions don't say some of what she does in public unless thay have some conviction about what they say. At least, I would expect a secessionist to know people who would take unregulated arms against their own country.

I'd be surprised if such people would not.

Zbear, John McCain probably can recommend a good nanny. He and his family had one when they went on vacations with Charles Keating before the scandal.

Funny thing; McCain claimed the Keating 5 scandal was the biggest mistake of his life. Yet for another 16 years or so he voted for exactly the same policies that cost the US 125 billion bailing out failed Savings and Loans. Yup, unregulated bank failures that put 21,000 people, most elderly, out of their homes and savings. I haven't heard any apologies from him about this collapse so far.

But I'm sure his campaign bought something nice for little Trig a few days ago.

This country does need therapy. The room is on fire but most people are mesmerized by the show on the stage. The puppets are carefully chosen according to the current focus group tested image of what most Americans "can identify with". Add a few sparkles and ribbon to their costume and wave them in front of our eyes. "Don't mind that feeling of warmth behind you. Look! It has accessories!"
Meanwhile we ignore the puppet masters behind the scenes. Coaching, polishing, pulling the strings. Wake up America! The room is on fire!
The real power does not vacate the white house every four years. It just swaps puppets. The only challenge to them will come from an inspired, educated, independent, pumped up electorate. We have been in the dark ages for a long time. Maybe it starts with just a spark? Go Obama go!

Palin is exactly what you see, ignorant and petty. Outside of Alaska, it is important to know something more than how to charge the state for staying in your own home and skin a moose. On the national stage, you have to be competent and Palin is not. Alaska may tolerate Todd Palin, but to the rest of the country, he is just so much added baggage.

And people were worried about Bill Clinton being in the White House if Hillary became president? Well, here ya go y'all...you get a prize in Sara's First Dude! He'll keep her informed as to who's having an affair, advise her on which of their numerous barely literate relatives can hold key positions in the government and all in all, continue to be her number one advisor. Do you miss Bill now?

She's a political shark; she saw the opening, smelled the blood in the water and jumped in the governor's race at the right time. The painful way she strings together conservative phrases betrays, I believe the central truth: She doesn't really HAVE an ideology of her own. Reagan BELIEVED this stuff, Palin just uses it as a springboard to power. If she was a true beleiver, she wouldn't need the 24/7 coaching to begin with, but even after months of intense coaching, she can't keep even the most simple campaign points straight.
I've known several very charismatic, popular people whom I learned later had real learning disablilities. It hit me like a ton of bricks two weeks ago watching Palin; I 've seen this before! I've worked with learning-diabled kids and have nothing but love and respect, but electing someone like that to the Oval Office... I don't know where else to go with this.

The fact that Todd feels the need to be glued to his wife's side as her advisor, to the point where he is attending government meetings, while having no official role in government. is simply an act that would be never be allowed to occur in the DC. [Why do you think so many people were dead set aganst HRC's winning the primaries? It was because they knew Bill rwould be roaming around getting into trouble while she was at work]. I suspect the real reason that Todd is ALWAYS at her side is because she has made it crystal clear that she does not possess the knowledge or ability to think and assess any issue without assistance in problem solving. She seems to think she can "memorize" material and provide those recitatations as "thoughtful" discussion [like in the VP debate].

She is COMPLETELY UNQUALIFIED to be in politics on a national level. [Even if she thinks she will wait until 2012 and try again, she will never make it since there is just no way she will possess the knowledge she should have been learning throughout her 44 years of life - 4 more years of study will never make up for that gap of general national and world knowledge. Once people saw her interviews with Gibson and Couric they formed an opinion and that opinion will not just disappear in 2012. Nothing she does between now and then will help her "appear" more informed or thoughtful.

It truly is a shame that she doesn't want to "bond with or take good care of her children", but instead wants to further her political career regardless of the cost to her children. or anyone, It appears that Todd doesn't seem to mind her plans one bit! She is delusional to think that 2012 will be in play for her. What a shame that her children lose any way you look at their situation.

I just can't get passed the Palin family image. How can a mother of five justify any other role than assuring the education and upbringing of her offspring? Why was Treat(?), the oldest allowed to become a delinquent and Bristol to run around with the wild crowd? The Palins could afford the finest education to provide for the futures of their children. I'd love to know the status of the education funds for each. An Trig, just a sack to be schlepped around on her schedule, not what he requires for a babies schedule

Palin is pathetic. Such blind ambition to the exclusion of all else. sometimes ambition can carry you further than your talents would explain. Obviously her ambtion and a pretty face allowed her to exploit a corrupt political system in Alaska to get elected as governor. But let's face it, Alaska is a cultural and political backwater where a thing like that can happen. But on a national stage, she just doesn't cut the mustard, even with our current low standards for politicians. It would be in the best interest of this country if Palin now disappears from the political scene altogether so that she can do no more harm, even in Alaska. As for Todd Palin, he is obviously just a puppet for his wife's use. But maybe he accepts that role in return for the money and perks Sahrah Palin brings in. Somehow I knew when I first heard Palin compare herself to a pit bull with lipstick that this candidate was going to be a bummer. I mean, she wasn't running for office at the world wrestling Federation.

This pathetic uneducated idiot can fool Alaskans but not the rest of the country. In a way I feel sorry for the Alaskan people having bought into such a fraud. We deserve people that can make decisions on their own merits not others. After the Presidential election is over the Rep. Party will be in a civil war and dissolve and Palin will dissappear. In any other state Governors would be impeached or asked to step down. I am tired of crownism. That poor Attorney General must serve under a person that went only one year to college.

I am gald for Alskans that they got a clear picture of their leader whom is a miniscule mind at best. They are being governed by coolege drop outs, friends and a snowmobile racer. She said she took on the oil companies? Think again. She is the one "drill baby drill" and who is drilling the oil crownies. Oil is corruption we had that for the last 8 years. I am also tired of that circus of babies, teenagers, pregnant daughter, disabled child and husband wherever she goes. Can you imaging the cost of flying and feeding them?? Now I have to kids of my own and especially with a pregnant daughter and a disabled child I would never subject my family to such scrutiny and rupture of their routine. She is a political shark and will do whatever it takes to win regardless of her family. Sick, selfish and egocentric. Wake up Alaska, wake up America, is this what you want??? Obama/Biden

Snowmobiling, moose hunting, firing disagreeing people, buying clothes for $150 000, having a pregnant daughter, a disabled infant, a high school drop out guy whom impregnated her daughter and stated he is not interested in marrying her. That's all anything else. Impeach or vote out of office.

Star ratings and private plans - who needs the office of the VP . Yipee she is on her way....

I have been unemployed for over year now. Clothes are off the list. My mother came to visit from Europe and bought clothes for around $125. Now this fraud and liar spent it on her family NOT herself ONLY.
Her husband $5090 for suits and hair cuts.
Her baby: $295 for a toy.
McMoose: $4700 hair, $2500 glasses, $8000 on make up, $720 for a pair of shoes, thousands for her daughters. $21000 flying her family around. $17000 charged per diem to Alaska.
This person says she understands and wants to reform America. Whomever votes for that tickets needs to see psychiatrist. Oh by the way. Michelle Obama bought a skirt for $120. What a difference.

Obviously, Sarah will step over many dead bodies to obtain her goal. The next one will be McCain. It is already a strained relationship with McCain (who is starting to figure out he will lose BECAUSE she is on the ticket!) that she has now decided she is the power and should be at the top of the ticket instead of John. It may not work in this election, but she is sure gonna be around in four years (doggone it!) to be the challenger. Unfortunately, she will have to go back to Alaska to "slum around" as their Governor (unless they impeach her!). The danger is that she may slip back into oblivion, where she belongs.

There is an interesting article in the current New Yorker explaining how she got to her level as aspiring VP. Great read!

It is good people from both parties who are disgusted with her unethical and opportunistic behavior!

i HAD BEEN WONDERING ABOUT HER AND THE REPORTED 80% APPROVAL RATING SHE HAS FROM ALASKANS. Look at what we have learned about her.

She's been paid to sleep and eat in her own home and no one there seems to mind. (receiving a per diem to sleep at home)

She sold the executive pane, but has taken over the state police chopper for her use on demand (20% of the time?)

The patronage jobs she doled out to her high school pals.

Best, all the babble about energy independence, then applied for a waiver with the Dept of Energy to sell 100% of the natural gas coming in that magnificent pipeline, to Japan!

How does that help us achieve energy independence?

I'd be embarassed and was wondering how you people not only accept this, but encourage it.

Thanks for this comment, Chas Gaynor: "...then applied for a waiver with the Dept of Energy to sell 100% of the natural gas coming in that magnificent pipeline, to Japan!"

I would like your source for this, any documentation, to add to our list of how DISqualified this woman is.
We have lost all respect for McCain, and this is very sad political end for him (i hope).

As a woman, I'm embarrassed and apalled because she demeans our gender.
As a citizen, I am actually scared silly. Are there enough evangelicals and simple-minded souls in out country to actually elect this pair? You just don't know for sure until Nov 5 -- are there enough stupid people to fall for her bull (or "charm"?) ? . . . or enough biased people to just not be able to actually vote for Obama due to race?

The WORST Palin attribute is that the White House would be infiltrated by radicals who hate America.
Surely the media should not dwell on the “regular hockey mom” farce, the spouting about Joe six-pack, and the stupid bad-mouthing of Obama . . . or the UNregular wardrobe.

Isn't it time for both citizens AND the media to skip a few trivia items and endless polls and tell people about the PALINS' UNAMERICAN ACTIVITIES, bomber-buddies and radical associates?
Imagine the media attention if the Obamas were hooked up with a violently anti-American group that at one time even collaborated with the government of Iran.
Gov. Palin has A CURRENT, ACTIVE ASSOCIATION with the anti-American Alaska Independence Party (AIP). Obama has a topically unrelated association with an educator who was an angry Vietnam war-resister 40 years ago!
    COMPARE:
    (1) Palin accused Barack of "not seeing the same America…" But she promotes Alaska and divisive actions.
    (2) Obama continually supports and promotes the UNITED States of America.

Because of AIP, the exciting VP candidate Palin could not even pass a low-level Federal employee security clearance. How could McCain do this? He has “lost it”, and diehard Repub. and evangelical voters would blindly send her to infiltrate the White House?

    “You betcha”, huh?

Right on target! What really concerns me is whether Palin's involvement in the high end political circle will be detirmental to other women politicians in the near future. She is creating a bad name for others, no matter what party they are with, who have the potential of making a difference in the future. Very sad situation.

If you didnt see this coming 2 months ago you were blind. Palin was only in this to gain fame and recognition. Everything Palin does is for her own gain. Everything she fights for is personal to her. She fights for challenged kids because she has one, she fought against her own government just so she could be elected, she fought to have librarians fired for her church, she fought to fire a state trooper because her sister was divorcing him. Theres alot more CRAZY things she wants"fixed" but who has time. Im just wondering where a regular guy of color like me would fit into her scheme of things! LMAO--I mean, would she fight hard for my rights as well? (rhetorical) Next she will be saying "soccer moms need to run out and spend more money at the highest priced clothing stores in America , cuz gosh darnit thats what we women deserve!!!!LOL I can hear Todd now: Well honey, you may as well get as much as you can from these clowns, they use you for all the dirty work anyway!!! As an Alaskan, you can guarantee that her approval rating is no where near 80%. She had a lot of people snowed because she is so secretive about what she does, and people are scared to talk about her because she is so vindictive. She has effectively outed herself! She is a "reformer" who gave over 100 state jobs to friends and supporters. If you didn't support her she tried to get you fired. She will be facing law suits from the Troopergate investigation, and possibly a recall election when she comes back to Alaska. We are also looking into McCain staffers breaking the law by advising people to ignore the subpeonas they were issued in the Troopergate investigation. We have gotten along quite well without her the past 2 months, I think she can go back to being a hockey Mom.

This is the first time I have watched local events unfold and then heard the national spin. Most of what Gov. Palin has said has stretched the truth considerably. I did not vote for her, but I thought she was doing a pretty good job as Gov. The national stage called and she abandoned Alaska's interests. Alaskans are unhappy about her reversal on cooperating with the Troopergate investigation, claiming to say thanks, but no thanks to the feds for the Ketchikan bridge and still keeping the money, claiming she is building the gas pipeline which is still several years off and negotiations will require much skill and credibility before the gas will flow, claiming she cleaned up Alaskan politics. I give her credit for taking what most thought was a political career ending stand against the Republican State chairman, but the legislature and the FBI did all the leg work for those now in jail. She came in on the tail end of that. Billing the state for per diem costs while she stayed in her own home and travel costs for her children with retroactive adjustments to the spending reports is not playing well locally. People in Alaska are unhappy about these things. Gov. Palin does still have her fans here, but the last and only time she has returned to Alaska since McCain picked her her rally had 300 people max. The first anti Palin rally at the same time had 1500 people.
I can't speak for all Alaskans, but my husband and I were both born and raised here in Anchorage Alaska, we know a life time of people here and I personally know only 4 people who still like Gov. Palin. Many here agree she will probably end up on national TV with her own show. She should, she loves being on stage and she is very good at it. Nothing wrong with that, but we want more from a leader.
  • okaasan3 · 1 year ago
Here, here! I agree wholeheartedly. I am a life-long Juneau, Alaska resident. I did not vote for her either, but to be honest I never heard the whole story about Palin until she hit the national scene. All I heard was that she was a reformer here in Alaska. Sound familiar? You have to admit she is a good opportunist. She started in Wasilla and worked her way up because people want change so, so badly. Problem is Palin is NOT change! She's the worst of the old time politician. I am overwhelmed with embarrassment for our wonderful Alaska. McCain keeps quoting she is the most popular governor. Not Anymore! Last I heard her approval rate went down to 47% from 80% in these last 2 months. I hope when she comes back to Alaska after her defeat, Alaskans have what it takes to impeach her!!!

Sarah Palin did not even have enough experience to be the Governor of Alaska. She has little education, little experience and very little common sense. The Republicans that chose her to run as VP, chose her for her looks and the fact that she is a woman. She is being played to the hilt and won't have any say in what goes on in Washington, should John McCain get elected. She doesnt realize this now, but she will wish she had never left Alaska regardless of how this plays out on November 4th.
  • Quest44 · 1 year ago
Judy ,Palin is not totally stupid she somehow without education and good judgement managed to pull the wool over the people of Alaska's eyes and became governor and I would bet dollars to donuts she knows she is being used but figures this is her chance to become President should McCain win and not be able to fiunish his term because of health . Palin has more ambition than she has knowledge and education and she knows exactly what she's doing.

southernNJmom You're kidding aren't you? Please tell me that. What is it, and please use real facts and not made up stuff from Fox News, about Obama that the rest of us are not seeing that you can see. I have read as much information about all 4 of the candidates that I can. I'm an independent voter and have nothing to gain or lose by being partial to any of them without serious consideration. So far I see 3 men that I have great respect for. I can praise all of them, but since it's Obama you think is fooling us I will focus on him. He has spent his adult life doing service to our citizens and become educated through hard work and study. He has learned to deal with adverse situations, no parents other than his grandparents. He is intelligent and a devoted family man. McCain spent 5 horrible years in a prison camp and I give him immense credit for his strength. The rest of his life has been given to him, but that doesn't make him a bad man or not a good leader. Biden has pretty much done the same thing as Obama. Palin, well that's a horse of a different color. Four schools to get her 4 year degree, a beauty queen, fundamental Christian that would like force her beliefs on others and has been associated with a several scandals already in her brief career as a politician. Have you been reading anything about her or watching the news? McCain lost my vote when he picked her as VP and she lost my respect when she accepted because she should know that she isn't prepared for this job. She doesn't know that she doesn't know. Have you heard her explain what the VP job is? You couldn't have or you would know she hasn't a clue. Have you seen any of her interviews? Please study and read and not just Rush or Bill. It's our country and the world we are looking at here. This isn't a high school popularity contest. I do not want a man leading my country that would choose someone like her for the second most important job. If you don't consider and only go on, 'well gosh she's really nice and i like her a lot' you are fool and you hurt everyone with that mentality. Have you been following the events of our country for the past 8 years and seen what mediocre intelligence and understanding will get you. Not to mention that false macho cowboy swagger. I'm a cowboy and I grew up on a ranch. Bush is no cowboy. Please, study. Thank you

Dave covered the serious points necessary to add a bit of reality to your self-indulged fabrication so I won't try to one up him by adding to his points, but give us all a break and just say that you were laughing while you wrote that. I am an independent voter, father of 3, faithful taxpayer, small-business owner, born and raised in the South. The McCain ticket by no means has my vote or for that matter any realistic American's. You see right through them do you? In case you haven't heard, Conservatives are drawing away from this pathetic shell of a human being in DROVES. She is not competent to be President thus she should not be VP--and this is the mistake that cost McCain the election.

It is you poor, uneducated Republicans messing up this country--you want to legislate morality for us all and so you will ignore everything else that is BAD for the country and has been for the past eight years. You claim to be God-fearing but you will allow lies, cheating, stealing, torture, murder and more so that you can pretend you are somehow pleasing God with your vote. You helped put Bush in power--Rove played to your ignorance and did it but he will not do it this time. Get used to the idea of a Democratic Black man as president, Missy, it's going to happen.

I see right through your proud story of "working your way up from welfare," but you forgot to educate yourself in the process, choosing instead to band together in "Christian" ignorance and fear rather than analyzing facts and truth. You are racist. You fear other religions, other cultures--anything other, this is all due to ignorance and intolerance. Ask your God to forgive you--please. And stop destroying this country.

I am so tired of being smarter than those who "lead" our country. Please let's vote for brains and deplomacy or we are going to have to learn to shoot moose for food.

Like her or not, Jane I doubt you are that much smarter than her in person.

Rolandthick - Do you fight for dumbies because you are one? I think you debunked your point.....

Honesty- You are incredibly unaware of the state consitutions...they allow most states to go through succession if they so chose to remove themselves from the union . I'n really glad you were not my civics teacher.

Judy - Your comments are emotional, not factual based and uterly stupid. they have no place here. Stay home.

Linda - Do you wor5k? Then you have sacrificed your children too. Wow....I expected the women on the left to be a LOT smarter than this.

You guys are unbeleivable- - blofg after bolg, but the funny thing is - would you have acted any differently if you were in her place? I'm sure a few will have resounding "Yes", but the majority of you who have some ability to be honest with youreslf will know the answer without having to say it outloud.
