Sub-prime automobile lending is in fact one of the more money-making forms automobile lending. If done right this could actually help GM

GM is now facing bankrupt and I think they should file for bankruptcy and I know it won't be saved by US loans.

I have now read Charles Morris's most recent book, "The Trillion Dollar Meltdown", twice. In my search for helpful metaphors for what could happen to us, I keep thinking of the 1930's.

Right now, I'm trying to understand what difference the Fed can make---obviously, since the "rescue" of Bear, the Fed has calmed things considerably (maybe, though, just for a few months). Is it really possible, to just print enough money to paper over the crisis to buy enough time to have an orderly transition to something quite different? The natural scientist in me screams "no", but money is not so much a physical thing as it is an emotional or psychic thing.
