What would stop these attacks? Holding liars accountable. Neither the press nor the public are doing that. As it is, the slimesters' books regularly make the best sellers list and they get new clients every election cycle for their ads.
I will commend those who don't make baseless attacks, because it means we don't scare half of America to fear the other. I don't know if it's effective, but it's the moral thing to do.
