  • I think she only initially drew large numbers because she was so new, so unexplored as a politician on the national scene. People were curious, she was a political novelty. That just about when McCain's numbers started to tank.

    I just came across this today, way after the election, but just wanted to shoot out the official numbers on the rally quoted at the Show Me Center: 7,800 in the arena (seats 7100) and an additional 800 in overflow watching on cc tv (the press was not in possession of the true numbers until after the rally had taken place). Just an FYI.
