apparently, however, there are some people who believe that that isn't so. so that if you are someone with a different sounding name, with a more foreign kind of past, then you are not even someone that a respectable american should be seen to be associating with.
i am glad that there is a lot of pushback here. where articles like this strongly disagree with such a notion, where an elder republican can say that being a muslim american should not be a handicap, and where it looks like many, many americans are choosing the candidate of hope over the one of division, then i feel my faith in the notion of the united states isn't entirely misplaced.
