6:09 Alaska time -- damn, take a shot of tequila, she just said the word "mavericks"...

    Nice work, Laura!

I would love to dive into mocking of Sarah Palin, including her cutsy home spun accent. This may play in Alaska, but I sincerely hope that the balance of American can look beyond this cute image and take a close examination of her vague understanding of complex issues. Darn it can you please deliver some substance in your responses Governor Palin?

In contrast Senator Biden was on point, clear, and passionate in his responses. He spoke from the heart and not form a script.

Darn it American lets vote for Obama - Biden and help our country get back on a positive track.

Believe me it doesn't play in Alaska. Maybe in Wasilla but not here in Anchorage

RE: Her 'Accent' - What I find VERY CURIOUS is that I just saw her OLDER sister and OLDER brother remarking about the debate, and NEITHER of them had that TERRIBLE, GRATING, and EXAGGERATED, FAKE ACCENT.

She's a FARCE on ALL COUNTS.

Palin has not been straight on most of her answers, basically touching the question then going on to her lil speach McCain wanted her to cover. A lot of distortions of fact, a lot of the current McCain talking points being covered by Palin.
  • jeanne · 1 year ago
Exactly my thought. Or did she mean something else?? Maybe there's a war he helped win that I don't know about. OH GOD...no child left behind!
  • jeanne · 1 year ago
Watching CNN independent voters ratings as they talk. Trying to decide why there are still so many undecided independents. ..(I am a decided Independent). I believe this group must be either very, very smart or very, very dumb!

If she says MAVERICK one more time I'm gonna hurl!!!
  • Rayne1 · 1 year ago
6:22 Alaska time -- MAVERICK!! another shot of tequila for everybody!!

Oh no!! Joe says MAVERICK twice -- no, three times!! And again!! And again!!!

    Pass the bottle!!

update: have you noticed how her mouth gets tight when she's uncomfortable about a topic, while she's formulating an answer?
  • Lulliloo · 1 year ago
    Biden answered all the questions
Palin ignored all the questions and answered wrot all her pre-programmed spiels

Nice job with the play-by-play, Laura.

Mixed review on Palin and Biden by the undecided women at the focus group in Denver. Some say she was fake and trained extensively. But the nearly all agree that she can probably relate more to their concerns.
  • doms · 1 year ago
What concerns.....going to work with a 3 month baby....Not giving women the right to choose....even with rape and incest?
All developed countries give mothers 1-3 yrs job security and pay to stay home with their babies...
What do we get in the states? 6 lousy weeks!!!!!!!
Instead of doing what's right for our children....we are going backwards!!!
She is an insult to women....moreover, I don't want any Joe six pack like me running the country.....I want someone who is smarter me....
Being president is not a job for anyone!!!
    Especially, someone, with no experience....

Those hatchet faced women should be sitting shiva on their stupidity. What a collection of dunces. "She's a mom, doncha know." SO WHAT!?! God, no wonder we are a banana republic now.

Did Gov. Palin state that Iran has no right to Nuclear energy?
  • rosemary · 1 year ago
Palin dodged every question on which she was not coached. If we want an artful dodger as VP
she is the one. She was overflowing with McCain for president campaign slogans but would not
answer clear and direct questions. She's cute but not that cute.
  • rosemary · 1 year ago
Hey! Alaska take your Governor back to your beloved wilderness. She belongs there and is at
home there. She offers nothing to of consequence. Just non- answers, generalizations and
McCain campaign talking points. She is so totally out of her league. She is so totally greedily
ambitious to the point that she is exactly like McCain....just out for themselves. Clearly, not "Country First"
  • rosemary · 1 year ago
I don't know about anyone else but I've had a belly full of inarticulate politicians, especially the
country cowboy talk we have had to endure for the past eight years with GW. I want to hear the
word "yes" and I want to hear the sound of "g". I want our language back. Mccain misjudged
the people of this country if he thought the plain down home talk was all he needed to win this
election. That kind of speech leads me to the conclusion that it means lack of an intellect.
Palin is not thoughtful or intellectual. She is programed.

Joe Biden is a leader, and the winner of this debate.

Sarah Palin was rehearsed, flippant, and disingenuous. In short, she is a loser.
  • Sandra · 1 year ago
the bar was so mega low for Palin, that she could not but seem to do better - and the moterator was so weak, throwing both nothing but softballs - there was not one unique questions - all rehash - it was not even a debate but Biden came across honest and knowlegeable - he won the night I would like to yhear more about Biden and less about the winking wanna be cute girl
  • Sandra · 1 year ago
oops ... correct "moterator" to "moderator" sorry -
  • Sandra · 1 year ago
Sorry, but I have a "bone" to pick with Ifill, she was so weak. the one and only opportunity for Amer ica to get information from the vice presidential candidates, and the questions were so "ho, hum" and predictable. if the candidates repeated themselves, its because the moderator was so mediocre - she gets a 2 out of 15 - nothing but the same old questions - how could the candidates give nothing but the same old answers - was the moderator so afraid of being "intelligent" because she was more concerned not seeming biased, than with doing her job. Ifill blew a great opportunity.

I just watched the debate again for the 2nd time. I think you are incorrect at this not being yet another Katie Couric moment. It certainly was when you consider she rambled and rambled and did not answer many of the questions. She once again kept throwing in the "maverick", and all the other talking points she continually fell back on with Couric. The only difference was she was standing at a podium and Couric was absent.
  • Catherine · 1 year ago
A good show. She rambled and didn't answer but looked good. Amazing. We deserve to go extinct if this is what we judge our leaders by. She is a disgrace and McCain needs to be shunned for this travesty. God save us from this and anyone who is satisfied with her 'performance.'
  • JeanT · 1 year ago
You missed the "Achilles heel" question ----------- Sarah apparently didn't know what the term meant!

    ???????!!!!!!!!!!?????????
  • stive · 1 year ago
Palin thinks that she lost the VP debate.
She said that now results the Mccain's company is obvious

I think another issue brought up was about not answering to the media filters. We will not see her do any more interviews. We will only hear her stump speeches on the campaign trail. When will we get an idea of how McCain/Palin will be different than the Bush years? McCain keeps talking up his record and when you talk about his record you are looking backwards...hmmm
