The Washington Independent: Palin Overstates Energy Experience

  • Tiana · 1 year ago
haha...this is a real problem for the GOP...miss statements, overstatements, out right lies...I can see why she solidified the base...this is sad...and as a woman I tried to overlook Palin's "experience", but she gives a bad name for Alaska and politics up there...get it together or get off the national stage...pitiful!

Wow! Even her strong suit (energy) is an overstatement of her actual prowess. I guess all she has left is her charm and how many times can you listen to her talk about how she and McCain are mavericks and will shake up Washington without any real plan of doing all that shaking up. It's time for this woman and her grandpa to go away for good. I'm guessing the folks in AK will be all too happy to vote her out of office during the next gubernatorial election in AK. Good riddance.

Even if we drilled every last drop of known deposits and then drilled some more, we would not drill our way to energy independence.

I lived in Juneau, Alaska when Sarah Palin was elected Governor (I didn't vote for her then, either), and the tax increase policy created by Gov. Frank Murkowski was on that same ballot. It's all true. She's a sham..a complete sham.

It's not surprising that there's yet another exaggeration on her resume. It amazes me how many people thought she was a good idea to begin with, and I am baffled at how many people continue to cling to the idea that she has any competence in anything.

You keep after her, Laura! You do us all a service with your fair and dogged journalism.

Your reporting over the last month or so has revealed the true contours of Palin's political skills. They lie in her chutzpah, savvy maneuvering to follow popular sentiment, rewarding friends and punishing enemies and being at the right time and the right place. These are basic skills for any politician, and can be used for self-serving purposes or for the greater good. Unfortunately, Palin appears to lean toward self-serving. Further, she has values at odds with U.S. popular sentiment and virtually no political or diplomatic experience that would give her the judgment she needs to run the country. Her political skills show her to be a promising politician (assuming the skeletons in her closet are not more numerous than revealed) but she is far from ready for the level of responsibly that McCain has thrust her into, and that she so egotistically believes she is ready for.
