The evidence is clear -- and mounting -- that the "birthers" are indeed motivated by bigotry, not just racial animus against the nation's first black president, but also by a misplaced Islamophobic bias, based on the false belief that the president is a Muslim.

That the "birthers" continue to wage their jihad against the president in spite of all their claims against him being thoroughly debunked -- still insisting that Obama was born in Kenya when, in fact, his mother never set foot anywhere on the African continent (and they cannot prove otherwise) -- should by now tell all but the most dim-witted that these people simply cannot countenance a black man being president of the United States.

Then there are poll after poll after poll revealing that the "birthers" are almost exclusively white, predominantly male and most heavily concentrated in the South. That they are also overwhelmingly Republican is beside the point.

Re: Paglia: ‘Birthers’ Aren’t Racist, and They Have a Point

I'm not sure how you come to the conclusion that the election and inauguration was "non-historic". The first time we do something different, i.e. electing a black man, it is historic. Just because you don't like his politics doesn't mean it is any less historic.

I think the president has done a great deal in his short time in office but I am not blind to the things that haven't changed. I also think there are plenty of things we don't know that compels a president to act/do in a certain manner. I wish the president would quit trying to be bipartisan because the right will never work with his administration in an open and honest manner because they don't give a flying flip about the people that are suffering in this country- they have proven that over and over.

I do not and have never "sanctified" the president but I know he isn't an "incompetent conservative" and he inherited two wars that he must deal with. I don't have to like war to know that we can't just cut and run just because we have a new president in office. I think he has a very difficult road and I believe none of us really know what a person faces when they are elected to the office of the President of the United States. I have watched quite a few presidents go through the office in my years on this earth and I have watched them all age before their time with the weight of the office.

Have you stopped to consider what could be being accomplished if the republicans would work with the democrats and the administration instead of just saying no?

Of course, this article was about was about the "birthers"- who won't be satisfied no matter what evidence is presented about the presidents birth. For them I said he is the duly elected president- elected by the people. They need to shut up and go away. We are tired of hearing from tin foil hat people.

Re: Paglia: ‘Birthers’ Aren’t Racist, and They Have a Point

So, now that you see just how non historic the election of the first black president was, how much of a continuity with his predecessor, whom I guess you see as a lily white bumpkin racist, what do you think?

I know youmustbejoking will never read this all these months on and I speak as a liberal here who doesn't see anything in the tea party but neocon republicanism.

Yet, even if you voted for obama as a liberala and all that, you must be getting pretty tired of sanctifying him and going on about how historic his election is, seeing as he's an incompetent conservative that spits in your liberal eye in favor corporatist war mongering, huh?

But odn't expect a liberal to change their mind based on facts, they have more ideology than any "nutjobs".

Re: Paglia: ‘Birthers’ Aren’t Racist, and They Have a Point

Obama does have a way out of this. No state gives out the original; the best you get is a certified copy, which is exactly what Obama has shown. It's prima facie evidence in any court in the country, just exactly like a certified long form copy. It's the only kind of BC HI gives since the 80's, and they're not the only state that exclusively gives short forms. It's perfectly good enough to join the military with.

And if you were getting sued over these lies and BS you'd "send lawyers" too. That's what people do when they're being sued. And this is especially for the edification of "Lawyer" who appear to be a "friend of the Director F.B.I." which he claims told him the "FBI did not investigate Obama." You give away your age and lack of knowledge by using periods in the abbreviation FBI, It has always been known as FBI not F.B.I. I certainly would like to see your "HARD COPY STATEMENT"(whatever that means) you claim you received from the top G-man. BTW what's his name? Why don't you have it published by your Orly Taitz. You also appear to be high school drop out judging from your grammar. Apparently you cannot follow complex, compound sentences.
My advice: research and read: History of Soviet Espionage in the US; Robert Hansen, senior FBI agent, undetected for over twenty years as a spy for Soviet intelligence: ;Aldrich Ames, long time Soviet mole in the CIA; Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, who sold US atomic secrets to the Soviet; Alger Hiss, high state dept official, a communist mole; and espionage by numerous low ranking US military personnel. Also, Harold "Kim" Philby, high ranking British political figure, long time agent for the Soviets, and Richard Sorge, Soviet super spy, posing as a German journalist in Tokyo, Japan, during WWII. Espionage investigations costs the FBI and nation an estimated 100 Billion dollars per year. An FBI investigative guideline states: "ESPIONAGE CAN BE COMMITTED BY ANYONE."
The FBI uses applicable federal laws, including Hobbs Act to investigate violations by public officials in federal, state and local governments. The 39th VP Spiro Agnew (Nixon's VP) was forced to resign on charges of extortion, tax fraud, conspiracy, but was allowed to plead no contest to a single count; and the pending case of Governor of Illinois Rod Blogovich. and also a sitting congressman.
The FBI considers its most sensitive and highest impact investigation is concentrated on public officials of the executive (White House) and legislative branches at both the national (Congress) and local levels. Public officials is meant as any person elected, appointed, employed or otherwise has a duty to maintain honest and faithful public service. There is very little public information of FBI investigations of VP/POTUS, probably because of the special protective shield required by the US Secret Service under its security requirements. There are six boxes FBI background investigations of candidate for VP Nelson Rockefellar in President Ford's library. Strict FOI laws are applicable.
Here's another tidbit. Before and after Dec 7, 1941, Gen Short and Admiral Kimmel, military commanders in Hawai; Edgar Hoover, FBI; and numerous other high military and civilian officials were never given access to "MAGIC," the reading of Japanese diplomatic and Imperial Navy codes by US code breakers. VP Truman had no knowledge of the atom bomb until the death of FDR in April 12, 1945. He learned of its success in late July 1945, while meeting Winston Churchill and Joseph Stalin in Yalta. All this was based on "ThE NEED TO KNOW," security protocol.
Also research National Security Directives, Executive Orders, and FBI web site in relation to security investigations and procedures.
Today there is tremendous awareness and strategic plans to defeat threats posed by foreign terrorists, domestic hate and fringe groups and therefore a strict conformance to all security laws and protocols are in effect. After reading all of the above, if you believe that the US still has such loose security allowing top politicians free or easy access to sensitive security information, then I have the Brooklyn Bridge to sell you.

Re: Paglia: ‘Birthers’ Aren’t Racist, and They Have a Point

For those of you birthers and doubters that believe President Obama is getting a"free ride" in gaining access to the nation's most sensitive intelligence, I have the following advice.
I do worry that the birthers are not playing with a full deck.

Re: Paglia: ‘Birthers’ Aren’t Racist, and They Have a Point

Here's the problem with movements like the birther movement. The movement itself is coated with teflon. Any type of logic or law that gets between their beliefs and theories or doesn't fit with their specific ideology is sloughed off. It's a very non-stick ideology.
If ever we have a democratic female president I'm sure we will hear them again spouting about how the US Constitution says specifically refers to the president as "He". Fact is, it does refer to the president as "He". Does this mean that we cannot have a female president without changing the Constitution? Of course it doesn't. But we'll see where the birthers lie on this one when the time comes.
