  • This is no surprise. I expect every journalist covering the Olympics to become experts in firewall circumvention. There are many many open source/free pieces of software that will allow you to work around their censorship. Quit whining and take matters into your own hands. Talk to your IT professionals in your shop and if they are worth their pay, they should have a multitude of options available (mention 'proxies', 'vpn', 'tor'. Those should get you started)

    Also as an added benefit, the more tourist/foreigners use these methods, the tougher for the Chinese Gov't to catch their own people using these techniques. Journalists can help in the battle for open information (which probably helps them remember why they got into journalism in the first place)
