I would draw a parallel between political campaigns, both current presidential ones included, and the classical shell game in a carnival side show. The carnie's contatant patter is supposed do distract your attention from what he/she is doing or has done in the past. What Obama says in no way overshadows what he is on the record as having actually done. His campaign says one thing, his record as an Illinois state senator and as a first term U. S. Senator says something completely different. Every one of the 10 points in the NRA add has been denied by his campaign, but all of them are drawn from actual votes or positions taken by Obama in the past.
Obama says he supports our recently re-affirmed civil right to "keep and bear arms". But he believes that local governments can abridge that right depending on local governmental needs. I wonder how he would feel if local governments in the south felt the need to abridge minority voting rights by bringing back the poll taxes and voter literacy tests of the Jim Crow era?
The constitution as currently ammended says that my rights are my rights regardless of where I live under U. S. jurisdiction. Washington, D. C., Chicago, IL., San Francisco, CA., and New York, NY., cannot legally prohibit handgun ownership any more than the former Confederate States can bring back slavery. As a "constitutional law scholar", Obama know this to be true. But what he says can be listened to only so long as we keep a sharp eye on what he has done in the past and will do again in the future.

You all just can't get out of the habit of being persecuted, even when you're not. The NRA would collapse and the gravy train with biscuit wheels would just roll to a stop if they couldn't make some conspiracy theory claim that Dems were gonna get your guns. You almost allowed the GOP to take your guns with the Patriot Act amendments they have working in the wings. They may yet make ammunition unaffordable by buying it up for foreign wars-have you seen how much ammo has gone up? Even the crappy Russian ammo is through the roof. 12 gauge slugs are spendy as hel l! Obama will make it so you don't have to hunt squirrels to live, but you still can if you want to. McCain will make it so you have to use stick bows and muzzle loader flint locks because you are too broke to afford even reloads.

For the sake of completeness and fairness I went to the Annenberg site you referenced and read the article. Then I went and checked as many of the cited references as I could find. In my opinion, Obama's language is his usual "nuanced" dancing around the issues without ever saying anything he could be pinned down on. The NRA's collection of his record is verifiable facts. The Annenberg site says the NRA lied because Obama's campaign said so. And you accepted Annenberg and Obama's version as the truth.

Obama's past record on gun control contradicts his stated beliefs during this campaign. Yet, hardly anyone in the media is questioning this, why? What are they afraid of since most of the media support gun control, including outright unconstitutional bans, as has Obama.
If Obama supports the second amendment, then why has he not co-singed onto a bill in the Senate that would remove the unconstitutional restrictions on lawful firearms ownership that are still being enforced in Washington D.C.?

Why are Obama's lies forgiven as "misstatements", but factual evidence from the (R) side of the argument reported as lies? Obama has a long and glorious history of supporting every gun control measure that ever hit his desk.
George Santayana had a great quote about those who forget history being doomed to repeat it. Maybe you should read that line more than the latest "Hope Change Future" pablum from Obama. But that might not be as "comical" if you actually had to face reality.

High-level politicians, including Barack Obama, are in quest of limiting the American peoples’ access to on-demand, short term financial support. A number of cities and townships are attempting to enforce limitations on where these lawful businesses can operate. Still worse, is that several states, including Georgia and North Carolina, have effectively forced all-out bans on the trade, with several more trying to follow suit. It's not about hunting. It is about every Americans right to protect themselves. If Obama is elected then he will have the posibility to add three liberal (anti-gun) supreme court justices.
Every person has the right protect themsleves from criminals. If you or you wife and children are attacked in you home and If you chose to not protect yourself and wait for the second responders (police) then that is your choice. I on the other hand choose to realize that in the critical 5 to 9 min it takes for the police to arrive that I am the first responder. Why is it that many Americans seem to think the only one capable to protect us need to have a uniform on?

With our economy falling behind, the war on terror, pork barreling legislation, corruption, and criminal activity on the rise, payday loans should be the last thing on politicians’ minds. Like many Americans who make up that growing class of “disillusioned” voters, I watched the latest “town hall”-style TV debate between Barack Obama and John McCain with my expectations held firmly in check. No matter how many direct questions you ask a politician, regardless of their party affiliation, the answers you receive will resemble generalized sound bites. The New York Times described it as “90 minutes of forced cordiality,” and I must agree. While the exchange was “mercifully free” of personal attacks (according to the Boston Globe), the result was that it was free of much of the tension that makes for compelling television. McCain continued to trumpet experience, his “stay the course” stance on Iraq (seriously, he could have been G.H. Bush’s understudy) and his oil drilling policies. Obama continued to criticize Republican policies that he claims have led America into its current recession. If all were based upon the candidates’ performance here, we’d have no idea exactly how either of them would work to avert pending economic catastrophe. A coherent economic proposal is what America needs. Obama’s stance on “predatory lending” – effectively sanctioning payday advance lenders – is not a coherent solution to the real economic problems we face. That’s just a juicy steak to feed the banking and credit union dogs. Last Tuesday, October 7th, the second presidential debate that took place in Belmont University in Nashville attracted over 60 million viewers. Instead of coming to a more firm deliberation on how to improve the well-being of the United States and all of the American citizens who inhabit it, more questions have raised about how exactly these presidential candidates intend to better our obliterated economy. Frequent questions asked about the $700 billion Wall Street bailout were left unanswered. People are upset and even fear that it would not work and are in search of reassurance and a solution. On Wednesday, October 14, 2008, Americans tuned in to the third and final U.S. Presidential Debate in Hempstead, New York. Senator Barack Obama of Illinois went into the debate with an eight-point lead, based on CNN’s compilation of national poll averages. It looked as though Obama was satisfied to sit on his lead, but Arizona Senator John McCain took full advantage of Obama’s contentment. McCain tested the strength and validity of Obama’s policies, judgment and qualities of character. Obama countered the challenge by pointing out the failures of the economic policies enacted by the Bush Administration over the past eight years. McCain argued that he is “not President Bush.” McCain stated that, if elected, he would sanction an “across the board spending freeze.” Obama’s position sounded more conservative because he intends to “go through the federal budget page by page, line by line” to allocate taxpayers’ money to the appropriate programs and to cut the programs that aren’t working as they should. Both presidential hopefuls think their economic plans will bring America the change it needs. However, their policies could eliminate consumer access to payday loans. The great French political philosopher, Alexis de Tocqueville, once said, “The surface of American society is covered with a layer of democratic paint, but from time to time one can see the old aristocratic colors breaking through.” That quote was uttered several decades ago, but it definitely seems as if, during this election cycle, it’s been ringing true nationwide. In this case, we have elected officials and hopefuls who, for some reason or another, at least claim to believe that cash advances are detrimental to the American people. Sanctions may range from fines up to and including immediate suspension. Surveillance – including videotaping – is heightened during the Series on campus and throughout the city.” Is there really a need for police state crackdown? People should be more respectful; it’s the adult thing to do. However, if someone less respectful of property as you leaves you with a smashed windshield and you need help to take care of it before you’re paid again, affordable personal loans are available.
