Obama and his programs will bankrupt the country and take this recession and turn it into a depression. He will raise Taxes on all of us. First it was raising the taxes of families making over $250,000 then $200,000 now $150,000 that number keeps going down. he will raise taxes on all of us. he already voted to raise taxes on those making less than $42,000.

His policies are worse than Carter and are nothing short of socialism. I believe that Americans do not want to see the country go down that road. Obama has 0 experience in leadership and we can not afford someone who needs on the job training. Heck is own running mate has said he lacks experience and will cause America to get attacked and Obama will not do the right thing.

McCain has server longer and has the experience necessary to lead our country in these trying times. So please for the sake of our country Vote McCain.

You are completely wrong - you haven't done your research or you are misinformed.
  • ef · 1 year ago
"First it was raising the taxes of families making over $250,000 then $200,000 now $150,000 that number keeps going down" --> Incorrect, the number has never shifted from 250K during the entire campaign.

"He will raise taxes on all of us." FALSE, most American's will receive tax cuts or remain at status quo.

"He already voted to raise taxes on those making less than $42,000." INCORRECT, Obama has never voted to raise taxes for low income families.

"His policies are worse than Carter and are nothing short of socialism." FALSE. Socialism is a political theory advocating state ownership of industry.

"I believe that Americans do not want to see the country go down that road." LOOK AT THE POLLS.

"Obama has 0 experience in leadership and we can not afford someone who needs on the job training. Heck is own running mate has said he lacks experience and will cause America to get attacked and Obama will not do the right thing." Joe Biden was misinterpreted and Obama has PLENTY OF RELEVANT EXPERIENCE (including a 4 year crash course from senior Democrats). JUST BECAUSE HE ISN'T NEARING DEATH DOES NOT MAKE HIM INEXPERIENCED.

Thanks for disecting this. Again, accepting talking points without researching the facts is what the Republicans count on.
  • concerned · 1 year ago
EF - I applaud your response. Fact based, pointed replies just like yours provide a clear contrast to the message presented by Obama and the smears, misquotes and outright lies provided by Mccain and his supporters. Its too bad the author of the above post will probably not return to read your response.

    Thanks anyway.
  • Sarah · 1 year ago
Hilarious. You mock yourself by referring to a graduated income tax as socialism. Not even McCain believes it; he told Larry King he didn't last night. Can't you differentiate between spin and truth? Probably not, because you watch the Fixed Noise. Get real. A huge tax cut for the wealthy, as McCain wants to do, would only drive this country deeper into a recession. The wealthy and huge companies are incentived to earn. Most people in this country are barely getting by, and they need a tax cut just to stay in their homes and keep food on their tables. That's the truth. No spin.
  • Paul · 1 year ago
Obama will raise taxes on people making over $250,000 and lower taxes on people making less than $200,000. He has always said this.
Socialism is a completely different form of government, in which the government controls transportation, banking, mining, and other industries to control the market. He has no plans to do that.
You don't want someone who needs on-the-job training? But you'll vote for Palin? Keep trying to tell yourself that's logical....
  • judy · 1 year ago
Funny the Financial Times and the Economist don't agree with you.

And can you define Socialism without "the Google"?

Its surpriseing...or maybe not that McCain still repeats the lies about Obama's tax plan.

McCain has served his country...I will not judge whether that service was for good or bane. I do know what Obama has said...what has been in his BluePrint for over a year ( www.barackobama.com)..and people who make more then 250,000.00 a year will have their taxes rolled back to Clinton era tax rates.(which means 3% more)..and it seems to me that people did not lose out then. Now from 150,000 to 250,000 your taxes will not change. From 150,000 and less you will get a tax break. A bigger one then you will get from McCain. And it has been proven over and over Obama never voted to raise taxes on those makeing 42000. ever. (www.taxcutfacts.org)

Obama has more leadership then McCain. Why after 22 years in the Navy was he never given a command?
Aw heck, you are just repeating all the guff you are told...like a wind up doll. Biden never said what McCain is saying...well he said half of it..McCain, like usual picks out what he wants to use. Biden also said that who ever tested this "brillant" man would find out he has a spine of steel. Albright, biden and the Smart folks in the Pentagon said that any one who becomes President will be tested...just as almost every president is. Just like GW Bush was. Remember 9-11?
Mccain has a bad nasty habit of lieing and getting angry...he needs anger management. He is also about as jealous as he can get over Obama. And he is going to lose.
  • Susan · 1 year ago
Actually you are very wrong. McCain and his economic policies will push us into a Great Depression. The old Republican myth of tax cuts driving job creation is ABSOLUTELY false. It's not tax cuts - it's demand and consumption. The only way for business to sell goods, people need to have real disposable income rising. In the last 8 years, we've seen the largest transfer of wealth from the middle class to the top 1% of the population. The only way for the economy to grow again is if can stimulate consumption, that means growing back the middle class. The top 1% will also suffer if there is NO ONE who is able to afford basic goods and services.
  • Grady · 1 year ago
Biden didn't say Obama's lack of experience "would cause America to get attacked and Obama will not do the right thing." It just goes to show how biased your view is and/or what biased sources you get your information from. What he said was that with a new president the rest of the world or someone in it will test his metal (something that is actually common knowledge about EVERY new president, and was recently confirmed by the Pentagon). It has nothing to do with his experience, other than the fact that every new president doesn't have experience with being President of the United States of America. On top of that, Biden in no way shape or form said that Obama will not do the right thing. What he said was that it would not be apparent right away that he was doing the right thing but that people would come to know that he has a "steel spine" and he will end up being right.

"A win Tuesday might well redefine America’s political landscape"
Let me tell you why Obama will forever change politics in America. Because he has finally involved the voters in the process.
Even thought he does get a majority in the Senate, he will have enough voters on his side to force the senators to work with him. All he has to do is send an email to the voters requesting them to call their Senator and support his Healthcare or Energy or whatever bill.
Don’t forget that politicians go with the voters and not ideology. All they care about is being reelected. The GOP is learning this that hard way.

I'm amazed by the incredible amount of public interest in Sarah Palin. Good or bad, she's become somewhat of a pop icon. People are dressing like her to be and/or mock her all at the same time.

This man is who we need, not some hot head that will bomb the hell out of everyone, or say "bring it on" or someone who claims to be a "maverick" but doesn't even know the definition, we need his calm, and well thought out approaches to our massive problems. He really does remind me of the Kennedy years, offering HOPE instead of slander, offering a plan instead of fear. That is the sign of a TRUE LEADER. Obama will make a great President. I'm going to have this knot in my stomach until the election. I'm hoping there are enough intelligent people left in this country to see that he is the only one we can put in the WH now.

I have just read that there will be ads against Obama featuring Rev. Wright on CNN and the MSM beginning tomorrow and through election day. McCain said this would not happen, but of course he lied, and he is willing to do anthing to win. Surely most people will disregard these terrible ads. If Obama loses this electiion, we are going to be the real losers. I can hardly believe we are almost to the end of this election cycle, and I want so badly for him to win ! ! !

They are adamant that you don't talk smears and you stick with Sen. Obama's message. It's an amazing campaign. Love. Him.

McCain is coming out with the old Rev. Wright stuff for the next few days so get ready to battle back. That man is so disgusting with his obsession of being president and he can't believe he is being beaten. He is a sleezebag and now his character is showing. He has no honor, no integrity and no self respect. This is what AZ gets for giving him the electins and all he ever wanted was to win the presidency. I get so angry that this is what represents any party and he is oblivious to what he is doing because he wants to win. If he does, God help us be assured, he will have a Democratic Congress that will kick his ass and he will get nothing done, then he'll drop dead and Ms. Dummy will become president and Karl Rove will be in charge. How could anyone ever invision such a mistake.
  • jc · 1 year ago
You are absolutely correct, he is obsessed with being president.
  • Karen · 1 year ago
Let me tell you, I looked at his organization from the beginning. When Hillary came to town, I went to the rally. Hillary's rally looked like a person running for student body president, not the President of the United States. A week later, Obama's team came to town, at the last minute I went. I couldn't believe the difference between the two campaigns....I actually wanted Hillary to win the nomination.....until I had witness to the Obama machine. I looked at the two organizations from a business standpoint. I thought to myself, "Hillary had the opportunity to start organizing 8 years ago and this is what she came up with?" The Hillary organization rented a small warehouse in the South part of Seattle---kind of the bad part. The overwhelming rhetoric was that they didn't have the time to rent anything bigger as they thought that only Bill would be speaking. I thought to myself, "If Bill were here, there would be SO MUCH more people. They weren't planning on anything going forward." Then I went to the Obama rally a week later. It was like night and day. It was like comparing a high school student body rally to a President of the United States rally. No comparison. The VERY next day I signed up to volunteer for Barack's campaign. I knew that this man could and would win the nomination and the Presidency.

    Go Obama/Biden!!!!

I certainly hope that Americans will not reward Senator McCain and Gov. Palin for a run void of serious economic message or vision for restoring America opting instead for gimmicks and smear. Surely the majority of Americans recognize that voting for McCain is tantamount to four more years of the Bush policies that have spurred the greatest economic disaster in our generation. For our children and their children, vote Obama/Biden '08. After 8 years of disasterous economic policies certain to be championed by the GOP ticket it is time for change.

A "Democratic official" just leaked it to the AP that Obama's transition team talked to Rahm Emanuel about the chief-of-staff position. Talk about fumbling on the 1-yard-line. This speaks to the drape-measuring and partisanship issues. I can't believe it. Plouffe must be furious.
  • Hillary Bell · 1 year ago
The Bush administration and the Defense department are asking both McCain and Obama to be ready to hit the ground running after the election. They know that the transition period is a prime time for some type of attack against this country, and they want the transition to go as quickly and smoothly as possible. I would also like to know who John McCain would choose to have in his cabinet. I have real concerns that he's going to give positions to the lobbyists who run his campaign.
  • Steve Williams · 1 year ago
    butters,

You fault him for doing the kind of advance planning that this country needs? I have read that McCain's campaign is in such disaray that he has thrown all post election planning aside in a desperate attempt to pull this thing out. That Obama is already looking ahead, making plans that may not come to furition should he lose, is a sign of a collected man, the kind of man who can exert the leadership that we need.
Do you think that FDR had not planned for the early stages of America's involvement in WW2 prior to Pearl Harbor? Do you think that our military does not have plans for every contingency they can imagine prior to actually needing them? Having plans for a future that may come to pass is what we need in a leader. Not having such plans when the stakes are so high is irresponsible.
  • DEE · 1 year ago

People have had big leads in the polls and lost on Election Day! Just get out and VOTE! Vote early! Don’t wait until the last minute! Don’t become overconfident! Endgame.

Is it time for a change? Now? Who knew it would get so bad?---economy, war, environment

In the sixties we planted the seeds for an alternative culture----against war, poverty, destruction, materialism gone out of control.

We used to ask for “Spare Change for Social Change.”

We thought it was the dawning of the Age of Aquarius----a new direction towards equality, humanity, cooperation, and interconnection with the environment, all peoples, cultures, plants, animals, and spiritual values of love, peace, respect, and understanding.

What happened? It got worse and worse.....desolation row, eve of destruction.

Now is the time for a change. A political movement inspired by Barack Obama has taken the seed values that we fought so hard to keep alive and energized a new generation to initiate a political power shift unlike any we have seen in our lifetime.

Support this change---in thoughts, words, deeds, votes.

In this shift we are connecting generations-----past, present, and future-----supporting values and policies that nurture humanity on our planet.

Flashback 8 years ago----the 2000 election----a few phone calls in Florida and progressive forces were defeated---with disastrous consequences.

    This is the endgame. Change.

Ethan, this is the culmination of what we began so long ago. Our young learned the lessons, and now we bring home the dream in the person of Obama. The Republican Party went strident and authoritarian and corrupt, but that is a death rattle, not a vision. This is the new age, and we are creating it in our lifetime. We didn't' fail, we planted the seed that is now fruiting. It has taken the turn of the generations to get to this place. Our radical vision is now emerging, offering us our one last best chance to get things right. MD

The state of Nevada, where I reside, went from a "toss up" state to a "lean" Obama today!
This has happened because, those of us (and we are many) who have repeatedly gone out to register voters, and now continue to go from door to door with the "get out and vote" theme every weekend is paying off. We have volunteered rides for those that need transportation, for the early vote and for Nov.4th.
We are not going to let up, and not becuase Barack Obama has told us not to take anything for granted, but because WE know how important this election is for our families, and for this country.
We don't think about losing, our goal is to WIN and we will work diligently to attain our goal!

We will see what happens on E day. The paid GOTV peeps in 04 sat on their collective ass in the Cincinnati area. They were scared to venture into the blighted neighborhoods and did not to go out into the rain. A few heavily Democratic areas in Ohio were shorted on the election machines and were forced to wait for hours in the miserable weather. The word on the street is the RNC plans to challenge voters in the cities to intimidate and slow down the process. A few counties in southern Ohio are controlled by the GOP machine and the past few elections have shown the GOP will stop at nothing to manipulate the system by any means possible. The Warren County Sheriff office actually kicked the press and Democratic poll workers out of the BOE in 2004 or 2006. They will stop at nothing.

Obama has impressed me with his campaign, he has shown a lot of class and determination. I hope he can pull it off.

Win or lose, what Obama has done has already redefined the political landscape. If you ignore politics and look at our country over the last decade, only one thing comes to mind that defines the entire time period: the internet. The Obama campaign saw what the internet has done for users in their day-to-day lives - ease and foster communication and dissemination of information, and encourage participation in each others' lives - and applied it to a political movement. This irrevocably changes the definition of viability in political tactics - the basis of which is and always has been the exchange and defense of ideas and ideals.
