The Washington Independent: Fear of Fascism, ‘Gay Agenda’ Dominate Conservative Kickoff for Midterm Elections

The fascists have a fear of fascism. Amazing.
  • Bill · 2 months ago
It is always amazing to me that so many of us, with all of our potential to do good and leave this earth in better form than we found it, choose instead to give our lives over to this complete and utter nonsense. (NOTE TO CRAZIES: If you deal with your fears about your own mortality, you will be free of the insanity that currently motivates you. You will also be far less prone to acting out against other people, who are just trying to get through life just like you are. Religion is not the answer to ANY of your dispair. It is the cause of it.)

"People of Faith" must NO LONGER be allowed to act out in ANY way that they wish because they feel that 'their god' commands them to. This kind of behavior is known as jihadist when referring to the middle east - it is no different here in the US. Religious folks: we love you, but we hate your sins and your craziness. Please, stop ramming your lifestyle down out throats. It's fine that you love the way that you love. Even though your 'lover' is invisible to the rest of us. We just wish you'd stop beating us over the head with it. Keep that kind of behavior in your churches where it belongs. (Not that there's anything wrong with that!)

"People pay for what they do, and still more for what they have allowed themselves to become, and they pay for it, very simply, by the lives they lead." (James Baldwin circa 1972)

well think about this...it is the "right" nut jobs who say that this country shouldnt secure equal rights for homosexuals..its the "right" nutjobs who say no matter what a woman has no right to choose.. .its the "right" nutjobs who say this country needs to have prayer in every school...its the "right" nutjobs who say we need to have internet censored for "objectional" material...its the "right" who want to shield their kids from science, music that contains "suggestive" lyrics, TV, movies, etc because the material is not christian like. Basically its the "right" nut jobs who want to limit our freedoms. If we are truely a free society there would be no drug laws, no censors on our TV and in music, a woman would have the right to her body and her choices, a man would be able to marry another man if thats what he wants..basically the very freedoms the conservative clown shoes fight so hard to restrict would be accessable to every man, woman and child...the only thing these assclowns are concern with are their guns to protect them from gays, their bible to keep them from hell.. and a whole lot of other bullshit ...they need to be marginalized and pushed into alaska or something...i mean seriously..we really need to invest billions NOT in the middle east, but in our own education system so we stop breeding fxckin idiots like these fools

    This:

“A lot of people don’t think the U.N. is any big threat,” said Karen Clark, an activist from Utah, telling TWI what she’d learned from Gaffney’s speech. “I hadn’t heard about the two schools of transnationalism before.”

    Makes me think of this:

Sir Bedevere: ...and that, my liege, is how we know the Earth to be banana shaped.
King Arthur: This new learning amazes me, Sir Bedevere. Explain again how sheep's bladders may be employed to prevent earthquakes.

This group is a representative of Christians as Al Qaeda is a representative of Islam, both are simply terrorist groups. The biggest difference between them is that the eagle forum seems to promote more hatred and intolerance of others than Al Qaeda EVER has.

Both groups show what happens when "True Believers" pervert the concept of a once all loving God. The only difference between the two groups is the language used to misdirect their followers. (Arabic and English).
  • Adam · 2 months ago
Unlike the Islamists, these won't try to fly planes into buildings, hoping for 72 pieces of Houri tail in the afterlife.

God doesn't necessarilly LOVE people. Both Judeo-Christian texts and Mohammed the kiddie-diddling (remember--he nailed 'wife' Aisha, when she was NINE) 'prophet's' collected rants state in several places, quite clearly, that he HATES people...sometimes. (He made 'em, so he can break 'em.)

Muslims are a special breed of literalist crazy. They actually believe that the Qur'an was Gabriel's verbatum dictation of a heaven-kept text etched in stone, in (apparently, fully-pointed for vowels) Classical Arabic...coincidentally, in the same dialect spoken by (the illiterate) Mohammed. Unlike even the most 'fundamentalist' Christian, or Jewish sect, there is no wiggle room for interpretation, or translation. The Qur'an (in Classical Arabic--translations are merely 'interpretations') is the word of God, PERIOD, right down to the 'beat your wife' and 'fuck 72 whores in Heaven' bits. Try teaching the Qur'an in a comparative religion class, and see how much trouble you'll get from the school's Muslim Students' Association.

As rotten as some Christian (e.g., Bountifull) and Chassidic Jewish sects are, nothing can compare with the darkest corners of the Islamic world, for sheer viciousness. On religious bigotry, family violence and misogyny, no other religion can touch Islam. Shari'a prescribes DEATH for aposacy. (Obama's Secret Service guys better watch out for bearded men with Qur'ans.) Religious groups like the Baha'i (whose prophets came AFTER Mohammed) are routinely killed by Muslims. 'Honor killings' of women by Muslim family members are all-too common, even in the West. Female genital mutillation (clitorectomies and/or cutting the labia off) is common, especially in North African Muslim communities (even in the U.S.). Pederasty is considered acceptable, even in 'moderate' sects like Sufism (see 'Man Love Thursdays', in Afghanistan). Salman Rushdie is in hiding and Theo van Gough is dead, thanks to Muslim fatwas. Can you think of any other religion that rioted over CARTOONS?

Enough equivocating. Islam, at least the dominant Salafi variety, is festering garbage and a threat to our physical and cultural survival. It's on par with the Thugee/Kali Cult, or Aum Shinrikyo, but a BILLION strong.
  • chrisjay · 2 months ago
If Timothy McVeigh had had the resources that Bin Laden had, he'd have proven you wrong, Adam, about who would or wouldn't fly planes into buildings...
  • Adam · 2 months ago
McVeigh befriended the FIRST WTC bomber in the can (maybe...in the shower). Maybe he even became a Muslim 'revert', before they gave him the needle.

For Christians and Jews, getting buggered by Satan is what awaits people who commit suicide; for Muslims, it's blowjobs from 72 dark-eyed virgins of indeterminate gender.
  • chrisjay · 2 months ago
fundamentalist Christians have been excited (theoretically) about martyrdom ever since St Stephen couldn't find another gig. The current crop are more than fine with the concept, as long as someone else is doing the dying. I'm not so sure Ted Haggerty is too put off by the prospect of becoming Satan's bitch and I'm not sure Jimmy Swaggart wouldn't give it a go. I wouldn't even begin to speculate on what kind of sexual "strange" got McVeigh off, but I recognize that black hole behind his eyes every time I switch to Fox or TBN...then there were those wild-eyed folks at Masada.

Absolutely fucking insane. Truly sad to be from a place that once valued education and has now given way to absurd fear mongering. No basic understanding of political theory, no understanding of what fascism and communism are, no understanding of history.

“Her credibility is questioned because she has an accent,” said Davis, defending Taitz, “and yet the reason she has an accent is because she came from a Communist country, and she knows how awful that is, to have a government usurped.”

Just because she CAME from a communist country does not mean she knows what communism is. Her credibility is questioned not because of her accent, but because she gets online degrees...and she advances an asinine argument that ignores any evidence contradictory to what she WANTS to be true. Just like all the other fools discussed in this article.

Disgusting. The whole lot of you people who actually believe any of this drivel.
  • typicaleeyore · 2 months ago
What an absolutely appalling bunch of crap, from the Nazi references to the anti-gay propaganda. The idea that Christians are somehow discriminated against in the US is absolutely laughable. Just because you're less and less allowed to force your believes on others that don't share them, and attempt to use your beliefs to legislate what others are supposed to believe, say, do or who they should worship does not make you the victim of discrimination. Against abortions? Fine, don't have one, the idea that abortions in the US are a conspiracy to commit genocide against black Americans is just mind bogglingly ludicrous. The idea that hundreds of thousands of soldiers are going to up and quit if DADT is repealed and gay and lesbian soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen are allowed to serve openly is quite possibly the stupidest, and one of the most obviously pandering comments I have ever heard. I normally wouldn't use "stupid" in response to a story, but it truly is. For the record it's generally quite difficult, if not impossible for personnel to leave until their enlistment is completed, unless they prefer time in a brig somewhere. There are gay service personnel serving in most of the major military organizations in the west, and without any of the "sky is falling" predictions that the fringe right claims. Our service members are serving along side them around the world, without problems, so spare the crap. Your arguments are getting thinner and thinner, and soon the toilet paper that is holding them up will give way to reality.

Who are all these people, Oily included, want to tell us what fascism is like, WE LIVED UNDER BUSH FOR 8 YEARS.
If these tinfoil hat fools dared to behave like teabaggers, they'd have been locked up forever.

Where were they when Bush was redistributing 80% of the wealth to 2% of the population.
Bush was a fascist, not Obama. Palin is a fascist, her way or the highway.
The GOP has learned the lessons well of Hitler. Their propaganda network worked for a while, they got what they wanted, then what!
An $11 TRILLION DOLLAR WAR, waged on the wrong country, all about oil folks, so Cheney could charge $4.50 a gallon.

Now these fools, NOW they're out in force blaming a guy trying to fix the problems. They're evil, and I mean their lack of consciousness.

I can assure these fools, as a person how lost countless family members in the camps, OBAMA IS NOT A FASCIST OR COMMUNIST!

Although I'd love it if he were a socialist! These tinfoil hate wearers all summer long, fronting for the damned insurance companies. A lady, uninsured and unemployed screaming, no health care reform!! It's NOT health care reform, it's INSURANCE REFORM, idiots!
I hate this damned country anymore. Wish I were a Canadian.

One thing that does not get reported or even acknowledged is the growing influence that Moonies have over the Republican party.
A lot of the things that these people say come directly from the mouth of Moon himself.
Most of these conservatives do not even know about Moonies, much less how much influence they have over their party.

If this weren't so scary it would be funny. I wonder how these people don't realize their hypocrisy and stupidity. Oh, and by the way there has never been a communist country, only despotic regimes using communist phrases.

I think the driving force behind this is that they are terrified because their demographic will soon be a minority. It would explain all the anti-census nonsense as well.

Jesus would be horrified by what passes for Christianity in 2009.

I'm relieved, though, that so many comments here provide ample evidence of well-read, well-educated people aware of the etymology and history behind all the words being tossed around so casually, as well the actual contents of our founding documents.

    Fascism. Totalitarianism. Socialism. Nazis.

As John Stuart Mill remarked, all conservatives are not necessarily stupid, but generally, stupid people are conservatives.

Or perhaps they already have. One thing that's ironic about the birther controversy is that Republican candidate John McCain was ineligible for the presidency; he was born in Panama.

Thank God for hard traditionalists like these people who are fighting to protect America and the traditions that made it great from liberal fascists like the Marxist homosexual Barry Soetoro (aka Barack Hussein Mohammed Obama). They have quite a battle on their hands, but buyer's remorse has set in, and the tide is turning against the Marxists.

I predict they will be kicked out in 2010 in an extraordinary act of patriotism by right thinking Americans.
  • bujudude · 2 months ago

Toss out the most ludicrious accusations with virtually NO basis in truth or reality and hope they can connect to other brainless far-right wing nuts who "want their country back". It's practially guaranteed that both of them loved Bush and quesitoned NOTHING about his insane policies, but Obama is evil incarnate just by being black and slightly left of center. Go away trolls!

I am fascinated by the short attention span of American conservatives, and by the apparent randomness of their attacks. According to almost any one of them, Barak Obama is a fascist AND a communist (Yes, there is a big difference, as any freshman poli-sci student could tell you), and if you listen to some of these clowns, he's a muslim, an illegal alien and a homosexual too. I suppose at this point the President has simply morphed, in their minds, to an embodiment of everything they don't like. Don't look now, but I think he might believe in evolution too!

It is particularly ironic how they repeatedly refer to Obama as a fascist and a Nazi. If one considers what their own president, and their Republican party did in the dark days and years after the September 11th attacks; If one considers the USA Patriot Act, GITMO, the bombings and invasions - The culture of fear and paranoia that these very people embraced and supported, it's amazing that the U.S. did NOT become a totalitarian police state in the early part of this decade.

Now we've finally got a decent president with a moral compass and a brain in his head, and these people despise him. Here they are, up in arms, calling him Hitler. And why? Because he wants...universal healthcare. The monster!

I am pretty confident that the right wing nuts can forget about "Taking back America" at any point in the foreseeable future. If the Republicans are smart, they'll start thinking about taking back their own party from the crazies and the talk radio hosts. If they don't start acting like grownups (and calling Obama a Marxist is NOT grown up), they'll risk being out on the fringes of government for the next generation.
  • riredinpa · 2 months ago
Robert, Google Jungian shadow and it should explain the far right's position on Obama. Then Google "opportunistic" for a definition and insert the word "financial" in front of it to explain Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck et al. Finally, using the opportunistic again, put the word "politically" in front and it'll explain the GOP party's position on Obama. Finally, use the term "spineless" or "feckless" to explain why the rest of the normal "Conservatives" do not stand up to the lunatic fringe within their own party and kick them out. To put it in modern terms (and just for the lovely howls of denial and accusations it will receive) what is happening to the GOP is similar to what Osama bin Laden and the Taliban did in co-opting Islam to fit their deranged views.

I am fascinated when people use words regardless of meaning, or cite a fictional account of history. Schlafley says the Austrian Anschluss was a slow process, when it was an overnight military annexation welcomed by cheering throngs. Little Lord Fauntleroy Basil mashes together words that have opposite meanings such as liberal (adj. noting or pertaining to a political party advocating measures of progressive political reform), and fascist (n. a person who has dictatorial extreme right-wing views).
Basil the scholar insists that people at this seminar are 'hard' traditionalists. This could be code for accepting orthodox Judaism as opposed to the liberalized teachings of Jesus. As he alone knows what this means, I request a clarification.

History has many lessons. One seems to speak to this cause directly:
'We have nothing to fear, but fear itself."
  • bmore_grind · 2 months ago

  • rickfoil · 2 months ago
I find it really odd... no hipcritic (sp?)... that the very same people who invoke a parallelism between Hitler/Nazis and Obama also denounce homosexuals. Their "excuse" (for lack of a better word) is that Hitler, too, pushed for some form of National Health Care for Germany.

Let's not overlook the fact that under Hitler's Nazi Germany, more than 100,000 homosexuals were sent to concentration camps for "re-education"... as many as 15,000 were documented to have been murdered by the Gestapo. These acts scream of intolerance... if not outright hate of homosexuality.

As an educated heterosexual male, I find the ultra conservative right wing's intolerance to gay people a more telling and ominous parallelism to National Socialism than anything Obama, the democrats, and progressives have been discussing -- and I don't care how Fox News is portraying it either.
  • bmore_grind · 2 months ago
    hypocritical :)

And indeed, that reasoning itself is a fallacy, as Germany has had universal health care since the 1880s.

This is the result of the collapse of the public school system since Reagan. Its scary how this stupidity can even find an organized "voice". We need a clear separation of church and state, culturally; and a return to teaching critical thinking in school, instead of "preparing" kids for "profitable careers". I am so glad I live in New York City, well away from the cultural context that breeds and tolerates these nut cases. That's what they are. Nut cases.

Riding the wheel of hate is how the Nazi came to power. They divided and sub-divided people. They made boogeymen of their fellow citizens. They sent thugs into meeting halls to disrupt discussions. They whipped up fear and distrust. They used distortion and outright lies. The only solutions they offered was the demonization and extermination of their fellow citizens
The lady from Austria looks and sounds more like a nazi than anyone in the government.
  • boredwell · 2 months ago
What a paradox! Schlafly and partisans fret and fear marxism and socialism while offering their totalitarian brand of right wing Christian conservatism as THE counter measure. If their ideology for "Taking Back America" includes a picture of god in the classroom and all children praying to it regardless of their creed, that, it seems to me, is very much more like a dictatorship to fear than the president's policies.

Skousen and JBS and Christian Defense League were promoting this in the 60s too.

Despite his anti-communism and that of the Agency, even J.E. Hoover was perturbed by these charlatans, some ex-FBI agents trading mendaciously on the name, and generating some 10,000 calls per month to the FBI to verify, refute, or sort it out. Big money in that.

    ------
"Admiral Chester Ward, the retired former Judge Advocate General, who told FBI the he, Ward, had been contacted by Skousen to see if he would be a participating member in the program. Ward told Mott that Skousen impressed him as an ‘unprincipled racketeer in anticommunism’ who is ‘money mad’ and who is doing anything and everything to exploit the subject."

Admiral Ward told Mott that he intended to have absolutely nothing to do with Skousen in this or any other of his money-making ventures in this field since he feels that Skousen is totally unqualified and is interested solely in furthering his own personal ends.

The Bureau frequently described Schwarz with the epithet “professional anticommunist” – and they also included Billy James Hargis (Christian Crusade), former FBI Special Agent Dan Smoot and Edgar C. Bundy (Church League of America) in this category.
    ------

Glenn Beck has been heavily peddling "The 5000-Year Leap" by this late Skousen.

    Deja vu.

Let's just say FEAR is the agenda being promoted and call it a day. That is all that the conservatives are bringing to the table. Can anyone name just one thing, one suggestion, one major accomplishment, one single idea to improve the lot of the citizens of this country in the last eight months? Between the sexual affairs and financial corruption bubbling up to the light of day -- which kills all that religion and family values marketing, spinning it into hypocritical obscurity -- and the reality is that the better strategy would have been to team with the Democrats to get the country back on track, than to be the party of "no" thus fiddling for their political party while Rome burns. It's clear, we get it, political party and corporate pursestrings before the people, most of whom don't really even understand what fascism even means or they'd stop using the term.

    SOCIAL STRATIFICATION

    (NATURES PECKING ORDER)

Now, while mucking about on the various sites for any really relevant news of the, we came upon a phrase use on one site, [Social Stratification], it’s no more than a term which means that there is a normal pecking order within nature itself, it’s a Darwin, and Statistical Analysis Demographic, related concept, at the top of the pecking order are the Got’s, they got it all, and that means all, and at the bottom at the ones that the Got’s, Got it all from, the Ain’t Got’s. Which all fits neatly, into how reality really works and not into the dream world that [All men are created equal] theory of Democracy, and why Democracies always meet with a quick end in the time span. Even in the Empire (NYC) New York City, and Washington, D.C. [District of Clowns] they have Got’s and Ain’t Got’s, on the East Side of New York City are the Got’s about as [Black] as a Que Ball on a pool table, and in Harlem are the Ain’t Got’s, about as [White] as the Eight Ball on a pool table. The Got’s have private parks that they have keys to and can look down into from their lofty abodes, and the Ain’t Got’s have Empty Lots with trash in them were tenements use to be, the world of reality is a cruel, cold place.

    (DEMOGRAPHICS VS DEMOCRACY)

Now, we are in a period of Demographic Change, a period when those that were at the economic bottom of the social pecking order have numbers that in a Democratic Process, Voting etc., and Thomas Jefferson wrote that [A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where [51%] fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other [49%] forty-nine percent, .have the superior numbers, the balance of power by number has shifted, and many would argue that is Democracy at work, and that would be absolutely correct, and the reason why Democracy Fails. In the real world in life there is a natural pecking order, and Race, Color, Creed, Religion, Gender, Sexual Orientation, matter, and judgments are made according to them. Understand that the American-Israeli Empire is [NOT UNITED] it is Demographically Divided, there are Black, Hispanic, and White Television Stations, There are Black, Hispanic and White Neighborhoods, and each has its own culture, language, and separate perspective on issues. In the past it was understood that the Pecking order went White then Black, then another culture entered the picture Hispanic, now three separate cultures are jockeying for pecking order position, and between now and [2050] civil war [Race War] is more than possible, it could be inevitable, the Old World has gone thru these periods of social upheaval but the New World has not, but the attitudes that caused the social upheavals in Old World were carried from that world to this by the Demographic movements of its population.

    [Hofstadter Wrote]

Panics, conspiracy fears and militant campaigns against outsiders began almost as soon as the republic was founded, Hofstadter writes. In the [1790s], ultra-conservative elements, particularly in New England, became obsessed with the supposed conspiracies of the Society of the Illuminati (a Bavarian Freemason group) to subvert established religions and overturn all the world's governments. More anti-Mason scares followed in the [1820s and 30s].

In the middle of the [19th] century, when hundreds of thousands of Irish and German Catholics began migrating to the [US], anti-Catholic hysteria bloomed like a fetid rose.

Jesuits and other priests, and Protestant were creeping around every corner of the [US], determined to enslave the [US] and carry out a war of extermination against heretics on the orders of the Pope in Rome.

And even today on (www.ThinkProgressive.Org.) Amanda Terkel has posted an article entitled [Group marches for “White Civil Rights” after Limbaugh hyped bus beating as hate crime against whites], and so it begins.

    [The Black Community Activist President]

Now, the idea that both Hispanic and White American-Israeli Empire citizens are angry with the Imperial Media Messiah President is founded in truth, as the Black Community with reason, a Black Man in the White House, feels no doubt that they now have an edge, in the pecking order. And the Messiah has fed into that with a [STUPID COP] White Cop, Black Citizen, and it’s another Rodney King incident and the comment of [If you hadn’t notice I was Black before becoming President]. These comments have gone a long way in further dividing an already divided nation. An the approach to the position of President is that of a Chicago, Black Activist, Community Leader, which is come in point to the problem that the community already knew existed, talk a lot and do little, leaving the nuts and bolts of how to fix and do the fixing to someone else, leaving the community prior to the setting of the sun, working for the benefit of just one portion of the community the Black Community. The Office of the President is about all the citizens and not a select group. There is a seat in the Oval Office that needs an occupant more than the guest seats on Television Talk Shows, and at this point the Clintons may in fact not be a bad idea to have sitting down the hall as Joe Biden, seems to be clueless of what is going on.

Nobody should ever trust a single news source. Ditto, for the non-Fox media. The NY Times has been caught making up news stories and quashed the Obama ACORN story. Other than Fox, none of the networks carried Obama's nauseating bow to Saudi despot Abdullah. And then there was that Dan Rather letter...

The worst sin committed by Fox was cancelling 'The Inside'. I miss Rachel Nichols, damnit! Why was THAT show cancelled (and Fox's 'Wonderfalls', with the lovely Caroline Dhavernas), but that dreadful 'Criminal Minds' still on the air...?

  • bokonon2 · 2 months ago
So, Fox News never makes up stories, eh? Or are you saying that everyone does it, and that makes it OK for Fox to do it on a grander and more overtly partisan scale?

    Fail.

Some of those "stories" you mention - like Obama's bow to the Saudi King, which is a normal political protocol - or the so-called "terrorist fist bump" last fall - were outright hit pieces. Fox regularly engaged in cropping, selective editing, misdescription, or giving the news deliberate political spin that delights conservatives ... but ain't necessarily accurate. But you know that already.

And this ACORN story is complete bumpf. Really. So what.

So - no, the worst sin committed by Fox is NOT cancelling some sitcom. And you plainly know this
otherwise you wouldn't be trying to find cute ways to excuse Fox's agenda-based coverage.

Nice attempt to pose as an open-minded skeptic, BTW.
  • Adam · 2 months ago
Of COURSE they make up (and censor) stuff. So do their corporate peers, on the pretend 'left' (CBS, MSNBC, &c.). So does the (real, independant) left media. People like Noam Chomsky pushed the fiction that the Khmer Rouge attrocities were all CIA propaganda, and that the victims were paid to lie by the U.S. Everybody has some agenda, including me, you and Dan Rather. This is why I trust NOBODY'S reporting...only watching TV for police procedurals and sitcoms with hot, young starlets.

Obama's bow to the Sodomy Arserapian despot was NOT "normal political protocol", but a serious BREACH of Presidential Protocol. His team KNEW this, to the point of making up excuses ("he was sooo much taller, by an inch, that he had to bend waaay over..."). The other media networks--who helped pay for Obama's massive campaign bill--did their best to keep it off the news, but it went viral on Youtube. The 'fist-bump' was as innocent as Howard Dean's "yaaaaaayyyy!", though.

Nothing 'left wing conspiracy' about the major networks. They're just capitalist entities that want the whitespace spectrum for THEIR uses, when broadcasts go digital. (They're still fighting the Bush FCC's decision in court.)

Not just 'migrant workers' but the wealthy and middle-class Mexicans, East Asians, South Asians and others who are buying properties in North America.

In Canada, there is a suburb of Toronto called Springdale, nicknamed 'Singhdale', because of all the Sikh residents. Their Member of Parliament, the comely Dr Ruby Dhalla, was recently busted for employing foreign workers under slave-labor conditions. Dhalla also introduced a bill to allow people from her home country to claim Social Security benefits after being in the country for only three years--an actuarial time bomb.

People still have to eat, even when farmland is lost to housing and roads. People still have to have crops irrigated, waste (pee & poo) removed and treated, and have water to drink and clean with. Enough of this 'brown people are all poor and have a lower ecological footprint' crap. Increasing the population through ANY means (the current means is mass immigration) is destroying the environment.

Would LOVE to see the one person at this site who could actually pull the trigger on a Mexican or deny one of them health care if they were dying.
like most uneducated people they have no testicals when it gets right down to it.
  • Adam · 2 months ago
You can easily 'deny' Mexicans (or dumb Canucks, who don't buy travel insurance) healthcare, if they're not in the country. The plights of poor Mexicans, &c. are sad, but a country has to put the needs of its citizens first. The U.S. government can't be so Yetzer Hatov that American citizens suffer. Also, the practice of allowing anchor baby (birth) citizenship MUST stop.

The problem is that the immigration system is so lax and inept that people who are in the U.S. illegally are rarely caught and removed. People who aid and abet illegal immigration (businesses, non-profit groups, individuals) are also rarely punished. Something is very wrong with the system, when MS-13 and Mexican Mafia members outnumber cops on LA streets.
  • chrisjay · 2 months ago
Hey, maybe we should build a big wall up north to keep out the hoardes of Canucks fleeing here to enjoy our vastly superior healthcare !
  • Adam · 2 months ago
What usually happens is that people from Canada, Britain and yes, Mexico travel to the U.S. without buying travel insurance, suffer some catastrophic illness/injury, and are SHOCKED to discover that the U.S. does not have any sort of reciprocal healthcare agreement with their country. A zillion-dollar bill ensues. Of course, Canadians who travel to another Province and get sick sometimes get an unpleasant surprise, when they are stuck with the bill for the difference in cost, between different Provinces (e.g., Alberta surgeons get paid a LOT more than those in New Brunswick).

Insurance companies, being Instruments of the Devil, also like to practise claims harrasment: many an American has gone to Mexico, had a heart attack, and found that their insurance company won't pay for a procedure without a lengthy preauthorization procedure. Meanwhile, the Mexican hospital will only treat your heart attack for cash up front...
  • chrisjay · 2 months ago
Dunno about that, Adam: out here the migrant workers live about 8 to a room and the kids call their carpooling proclivities "mexi-packing"
  • Adam · 2 months ago
Like Canada's sprawling South Asian and Chinese suburbs, the French Arab banlieues and, yes, Hispanic and Korean-filled new housing developments in California, much of suburban development is due to immigration-fuelled demand. And, surprise!, many immigrants are NOT 'poor'. People with money flee their overcrowded, cesspool, crime-ridden homelands, for cheap, expansive real estate in North America and Australia.

Even the Ausssie Labour Party is acknowledging the fact that bringing in hundreds of thousands of people--rather shockingly--means that more land has to be used for housing. Much of the best farmland is lost anually, due to housing development, which increases food prices. A swelling population also strains our already overtaxed freshwater supplies. Since people in developed societies aren't exactly breeding like bunnies, it's MASS IMMIGRATION that is increasing our population. You can't stick your heads in the politically-correct sand over the overpopulation issue forever.

And yes, immigrants SHOULD speak 'American'. When you move to a new country, part-and-parcel of citizenship is learning the language. My Grandfather, who emmigrated on very short notice from Poland thanks to Hitler, knew English BEFORE getting off the boat. For immigrants (many of whom planed for YEARS to come to the U.S., Canada, or Australia) to whine about not having police, government services and schools in 'their' language is inexcusable.

Bet you're a member of the Sierra Club. They accepted nearly $100M in philanthropic payolla from David Gelbaum, on the condition that they not speak about the negative affects of mass immigration, or overpopulation.

Forget all this talk about the 'Latino Lobby', or illegal-employing sweatshops. The main lobbyists for mass immigration (including No Illegals Left Behind-type amnesties) are the real estate, construction and banking sectors. These industries need constant population growth, in order to justify housing development and associated infrastructure (roads, schools) construction. The fastest, surefire way to increase the population, since people in developed countries don't pop a zillion babies, is mass immigration. Many of the immigrants, even from 3rd-world countries, are also well-off. All the Mother Jones readers don't like to admit that there's such a thing as wealthy immigrants, especially if they come in colors other than white. Banks also need more housing construction, to keep the real estate bubble inflated (mortgages) and sell more financial products.

If you call yourself an 'environmentalist', yet support unlimited immigration--BET YOU HAVE NO SPINE.

If you look at the classic model for moving to Marxism,” said retired Lt. Gen. William Boykin, who would give the conference’s opening speech, “you look at what every Marxist organization has done, they nationalize. They redistribute wealth. They restrict gun ownership. They then go out and suppress the opposition. And then, finally, they censor the media.

I caught the quick comment at the beginning about Bush and supposedly they did not support him either, but do they not understand Bush socialized more industry than Obama? Do they not understand Bush redistributed more wealth than any president in history? In fact, the trillion dollars we have spent in Iraq is the largest redistribution of wealth any nation has ever undertaken. So why in the world do they encourage a Republican return to Congress in 2010? It's because they didn't disapprove of Bush. They were the remaining 22% that actually supported the guy.

A cornucopia of kooks. Lt Gen Boykin is one of my favorite rightwing kooks because of his colorful career--- he almost got court-martialed for evangelizing and making religious slurs while representing the US military-in uniform AND he advised Atty Gen Janet Reno in her infamous raid on the Koresh compound in Waco TX. Also, this 'gay people have taste' thing is a bad stereotype. Who'd you rather be dressed by: Sean John, or Perez Hilton?
  • Adam · 2 months ago
I don't know what these conservatives have against gay people. At least they don't go after little boys, like Islamic fundamentalists. Also, their God Bill Buckley was a fruitfly extraordinaire (and probably a closet fou-fou). McCarthy and Hoover fudge-nudged about, even as they purged 'commies' from every closet. Neither the left, nor the right want to admit it, but many of these Northeastern commie bashers were homos, at odds with a viciously homophobic left. Communist (Marxist-Leninist) and Socialist (social-Christian) doctrine, like the Christian-dialectical culture they came from, were once SEVERELY anti-gay. BTW, since Canada's NDP (formerly CCF) is now pro-pouff, I bet it's founders J.S. Woodsworth (a Methodist minister) and Tommy Douglas (Baptist minister, grandfather of Kiefer Southerland) are rolling over in their graves.

They're right about gun ownership. Armed civilians are an important check on state power. Do you think Ahmedinajad would still be in power, if the protesters could actually shoot back at the riot police? Do you think Burma's rotten Junta, or Kim Jong Il would still be in power, if Burmese and North Korean civilians could own guns? 'Passive resistance'--that hoary old crap, from dead caste-system supporter Gandhi--only worked on the guilt-ridden and bankrupt British Raj.

If people want to see corporatism in action, have a look at Obama's political birthplace, Chicago. Richard M[obster] Daley's fiefdom is essentially a one-party state, with an economy run by private interests. Kinda like Lee Kwan Yew in Singapore.

When Dhimmwit[sic] authorities in NY pressed 'hate crime' charges against a man for tossing a Qur'an into a potty, and Yale refused to publish those Mohammed cartoons in a magazine, a line was crossed. We have no obligation to 'respect' Islam. Something is wrong, when authorities at Guantanamo have to handle the collectected ramblings of an insane child-molester with rubber gloves, so they don't get their icky infidel Crusader cooties on it. And, yes, Mohammed WAS a child molester: he screwed Aisha when she was NINE. If he were alive today, hed be on a Sex Offender Registry.

The Dhimmwit prize of all time, though, goes to Ronnie 'poop pants' Reagan. He's the dementia President who helped create the Mujaheddin cum Taliban...ultimately leading to the death of 3,000 people on 9/11. Obama, though, did his part to try to sink to Ronnie's level, when he bowed to King Abdulla--a GROSS violation of Presidential protocol. (NO American citizen, let alone the President of the Republic, is supposed to bow before ANY monarch.)

Like every other administration, Obama's is bought and paid for by corporate and union interests. With Obama, it's nice people like Monsanto and social workers' unions. The Food Safety legislation, crafted with Monsanto's input, is scary. Soo too the 4th Amendment-busting social worker snoop legislation in B.O.'s health bill. The biggest contributor, though, is the media-telecom sector: they want the Bush FCC's whitespace spectrum reallocation decision quashed. (This may affect you, if you want cheap broadband.)

Christians.... Oh, Christians... Jeez. Almost speechless here.

    Almost.

Oh the persecuted Christian. The poor, poor persecuted Christian. They simply can't understand why the people they persecute and punish (via the United States Government) are punching them. They just can't figure it out. Why would someone punch them back after getting punched abd raped BY them? Why oh why?

The problem is this; Christians have lost all sense of self. They have lost all sense of decency toward fellow mankind. They are living in fear. And under delusions. And certainly if Jesus Christ WERE to come back to earth, 'Christians' would not even recognize him. They would persecute him now, even as people did back then. Instead they would opt to hunt him down and kill him for turning their wine back into water.

If Christians aren't persecuting someone, they feel incomplete. Like they aren't 'doing their job.' Their persecution is what bonds them, it is what keeps them going back to church, and it is what keeps them paying their weekly stupid tax to the Church of What-The-F-Ever.

(This theory works for ALL religions. Just cross out 'Christian' and insert YOUR favorite religion in it's place. It's hours of fun for the whole (educated) family!)

She describes her homeland as "a 100 percent Christian nation" completely overlooking the 200,000 Jews who lived in Austria when Hitler marched in and the 65,000 who were eventually murdered in a country she lovingly recalls as being filled with "order, prayer and pictures of Jesus." Conservatives believe that discrimination is fundamental to the founding of our nation. America's cultural default position is deeply rooted in white-male preference. Religion is central to cultural development. These people are capable of discriminating on a vast array personal/social characteristics. They are experts at throwing wedges, inspecting bona fides, dehumanizing "others".

This is how one learns to rationalize, in politically correct terms, the visceral emptiness that emerges in the absence of compassion for another human being.

Conservative in the Northern Mariana Islands proved they are anti choice and not pro life by supporting those who forced abortions on the women enslaved there under the US flag.

In Dr. Tiller's practice he was treating women for fetal demise. That is the fetus was nothing more than a clump of dead cells and the only life in danger was that of the mother from sepsis and other complications. There was never going to be a baby. But they once again proved they are anti choice and not pro life at all, by not only opposing and obstructing the treatment of the mother but murdering the doctor.

I truly do not understand how anyone can have these thoughts. I think about what goes through their minds. I've come to this conclusion. Their minds must be absolutely devoid of all logic and thought. It is a black cloud of hatred because they do not understand the world around them. They fear. They crave for someone to tell them what to do. Along come the manipulative Right, who feed on the mentally weak. Finally, these empty-minded people have fodder in which to express their hatred of everyone. They finally have words...not their own words, not their own thoughts, but hell, what do they care if anything they say makes sense? They have no logic.
What gives me great pleasure, however, is the fact that so many people on here (and elsewhere) have expressed with eloquence and thoughtful argument how utterly wrong these people are. There were only 600 people from a nation of 350 million who attended this stupid conference. Sure, they are yelling louder than they ever did before. Sure they are yelling with more hatred and bigotry than they ever did before. But there are many fewer of them than there ever was before.
Someday, their kind will be extinct. Our society will continue to progress and they will be left behind, stewing in a corner with their hatred and guns. But they will eventually disappear and we will stop looking at the color of a person's skin. We will stop wondering if some man is sleeping with another man. We will stop hating for the sake of hating.
I have faith in the people of this country to do what's right. Hell, we elected Obama with a CLEAR majority....that was a good start.
  • Irish_Wake · 2 months ago
I bring you news that will enable you to understand how these people can have these thoughts.

Magical Thinking, an irrational belief that one can bring about a circumstance or event by thinking about it or wishing for it; normal in preschool children, it also occurs in schizophrenia and OCD.

This group is exhibiting the same behavior as a toddler: defending a closely held belief or want in spite of any subsequent information.

Before you dismiss magical thinking, or its those who use it so loudly, remember how our country arrived where it is today.

I voted for Clinton twice, Bush twice and Obama once. I'm an independent who makes every effort to follow whom I believe is most suited for the Office, based on the given candidates at the time of the election. I am certain of this, just as I have failed as a human being in areas of life, every man I've voted for has failed in some regard. I don't believe Obama is a fascist, he's certainly not a socialist in the extreme sense of the word. I have many problems with this event. To have a retired General get up and talk about socialism and fascism as he is on the payroll (military pension) is a farce. That's one of the biggest problems in our society (I served in the USN for almost 11 years so my comment about military pensions is NOT baseless). They want us to be mindful of the Constitution and history. Well, if you look at the Constitution, it is a socialist document written "by the people for the people" to remove themselves from a tyranical dictatorship (at the time England). As for history and fascism involving the government taking over, every bit of it involves race regimes. Now where do I see Obama taking the government into a race war? No where. "How to take back America" is conjecture projection (catchy phrase huh). There are white people who feel they have "lost" the power and don't want any other group holding that power. In a nutshell, its their fear they are professing to be the problem the opposition is committing. As for some of the topics they discussed, I believe in school prayer, but I don't think you should force a kid (or anyone) to pray if they don't want to. I don't believe in abortions, but in all fairness to those I know who've had abortions, I'm not condemning them to hell for their actions (that's between them and God). I'm also not out there making any real efforts to assist those considering abortions about other options to keep the child. I don't want to pay for it, but I'm not going to tell a woman what she can and cannot do with her body, especially if its under the law. As for "gays" don't ask don't tell was instituted while I served and I thought it was more than appropriate at the time. If the law is changed and they can serve openly, it would not be unConstitutional, but it would go against the UCMJ. The miliary and those serving in certain political positions are held to a different standard under different laws (by order of the Congress) than the rest of society, so I see there might be a lot of issues about keeping the status quo on that one, too many other laws would have to be challenged and or changed. As for Christianity, I don't have a picture of a blonde haired, blue eyed white Jesus (that's something I've always hated seeing as a child) in my home, but I do own a bible and I do attend church on the most segregated day in America. I say that because more white folk have a problem sitting under a black pastor (or any pastor of color) than vice versa. Power, authority and submission is obvious in this society. Jimmy Carter was correct in his assessment of our society and race. He was also correct about a lot of things wrong in America while President, but has anyone taken notice how easily he has been dismissed by the media and even Obama, why is that? Anyway, I respect this ladies age and I have sympathy toward what she experienced as a child, but that's as far as I'm willing to go. If she is correct about Obama being a fascist or if the "birthers" are correct, what would it demonstrate other than what we already know about our society. It is full of corruption. If she's wrong do you think she'll apologize to anyone for anything she's said or done OR do you think she'll move forward with another claim before she dies (she is 84)?

This was an event for the unhinged, irrational, paranoid & uninformed fringe element of society. The fact that some occupy seats in government is frightening. They represent the very real danger they wish to blame on Obama. This is another example of indoctrination of the extreme right-wing.

    Wingnut triathlon:

    Swim through an ocean of conspiracy theories, swallowing most that ocean in the process;

    (Re)cycle white supremacism as "patriotism", because you need to "take back" America from all the people who aren't as white and ignorant as you;

Run in fear from your own shadow, while feigning bravado.

Oh, and thanks for demonstrating your superior intellect through your consistent misuse of apostrophes and your equally consistent misspelling of that challenging word, "too."
  • bmore_grind · 2 months ago
Perhaps you should take back your understanding of spelling and grammar, and then you can "take back America," whatever that means.

  • cash14 · 2 months ago
I believe any one who talks like this, and or believes these rantings of lunatics run amok should be given their own little parcel of land so they can stop polluting this once great country with their venemous lies. Who are the Hitler types in this scenario?
  • Adam · 2 months ago
Again, this is all very funny and ironic, considering that Senator McCarthy and J.E. Hoover--great right-wing heroes, like raghead-lover Ronnie--were total fudgepackers, and the old Christian socialists and Marxist-Leninist commies would flay homos alive.

They ARE right about authoritarian regimes of allsorts banning guns: North Korea (commie), The PRC (commie, transitioning to corporatist), Burma (fascist), Singapore (corporatist/quasi-dictatorship) and Iran (theocratic/totalitarian) all ban, or severely restrict civilian ownership of firearms...and even airguns. Hitler confiscated firearms. He also hated hunting and loved animals, even FEEDING mice in his apartment. There goes the 'animal-lovers aren't misanthropes' argument.
  • bmore_grind · 2 months ago
Do you mean the "animal lovers CAN'T be misanthropes" argument?
  • Adam · 2 months ago
'Animal-lovers aren't misanthropes', as in Hitler really LOVED people (provided they weren't Jews, or Gypsies). Or, of course, Karla Homulka--vetrenary assistant, who raped, killed and dismembered her sister. If animal-love could be used to predict these tendancies...

These people are real nuts. That they are even considered in some circles as sane is VERY SCARY. This country is doomed if the progressive majority can't stand up to these WINGNUTS.
  • Arliss · 2 months ago
What a bunch of unbelievably crazy people!
  • Observer · 2 months ago
That the right wingnuts should be claiming to be afraid of nazism is the most extreme irony possible.

I hope and pray that the rest of the country wakes up to the danger represented by these people. It is real.

In a free society, you can't just 'stomp them out', but extreme, destructive, hate-filled politics must be marginalized or democracy will have failed and the country will have failed.

So, it you don't like right wingnut politics, stand up and speak out.

The people who attend these silly get togethers need a life, or learn to volunteer to an organization. They are wasting their lives and time on pure bull! Are they that lazy that they can't look up some of these comments made at these meetings to see how untrue they are.

And to think some of our elected officials go to these meetings. I hope no one votes for them next time around.

Phyllis Schlafly is one whacked out lady. Why do these folks have so much hate towards people who have a different point of view. I don't hate any of them>>I just don't understand why they are always pushing their agenda as the only way to live. Ms. Schlafly is one of the most hate filled people in our country>>>maybe she is the mom of Ann Coulter. That might explain where Ms. Coulter got her hate gene.

    wow.

I wish I was gay, so I could have run my naked, socialized Canadian ass through the room & give them all cardiac arrests...

as it is, all I've got is the Evil Spector of American hobbled Universal HealthCare

    OMG!
    BURN THE WITCH!

Give those freaks half a second of your time, & they'll have the US starting another Civil War against 'UnAmericans Amongst US!' & then turning their corporations to eating your neighbours alive...

well, you've already been investing billions a year into killing sovereignty & social programs into 'American Privatized DREAMS' for your Southern & Northern Neighbours...

maybe this freak out at home will teach Americans to respect their neighbours?
I'm not holding out any faith in the "Hopium"...
well, at least it keeps you busy
...so you forget what atrocities you pay big buck$ to enable corporations to commit abroad...

just remember! these fuckers eventually remember its easier to exploit the neighbour 3' away rather than the ones they hide from you across sealed prison borders 3,000 Km away...

essentially, bullies are lazy bastards, or they'd be more creative & less focused on the creativity of abuse & propaganda

Jesse Dirkhising of Rogers, AR suffered a much worse fate than that sorry sucker Mathew Shepard. Where is the justice for Jesse Dirkhising? So-called "gay" people are the ruin of our nation. Preservation of species and self-defense against AIDS/HIV demand we fight back against their activism. They cannot reproduce they must recruit. Call it mental illness if you want but I say it is demon-possession.
