  • Danny · 6 months ago
why is this man, dick cheney, not on trial for high treason to the united states of america????????????????
  • Bob · 10 months ago
We were in Bush's belly, the beast had just eaten us
How did this coke head who graduated with a C.plus get to be the president?
    your ignorance was evident
    his ignorance is the evidence
    power but no intelligence
    Thats where Dick comes in
NEW WORLD ORGY we get F**ked in the end
Pinky and the Brain are not your friend
We should have impeached them or called the cops on them,I blame alot on them
but there are alot of ignorant people who just cant see
the lies that come out of Bush and Cheney
Con Rice, Rove and Rumsfeld have good "G"
but not enough to make a freaking fool out of me
    The "W" regime
    always had a new scheme
I hope that we can still have American Dreams
    They played real mean
as if they weren't on our team
    It was wrong and obscene
I'm glad the White House just got clean!
  • Byron · 10 months ago
Already mongering fear? STILL mongering fear! That's all that Richard B. Cheney knows how to do! Already he's inflated his psychosis and is sharing it with the media. He must be going through withdrawals.
  • Bob · 10 months ago
It seems more and more like Dick is the biggest terrorist in the world.
This may sound far out but if you realy take a step back and look at it all,Dick more than George Bush, has pretty much ruined the WORLD!
  • Rayne1 · 10 months ago
Have to wonder why Cheney is so intensely invested in denying detainees the right to speak in their own defense -- he can't even take some downtime away from DC even though he's 68 years old and a survivor of four heart attacks.

But we're used to wondering what criminality Cheney is hiding.
  • John · 10 months ago
Debunked by a study? How about we let time tell whats going to happen. Lets hope nothing does...
  • chitown · 10 months ago
THe sky is falling, the sky is falling.... u conspiracy theorists are all the same. Hey, like it of not, Obama is gonna own this war and it will be HIS fault eventually. I sure hope you don't consider yourself an OBJECTIVE journalist because not true journalist would start an article with the first sentence you did. Get over yourself. As for lying, let's see.... so did Britain and every other county in the fiasco.... You get garbage in, you get garbage out... get over yourself...
  • Nursehope · 10 months ago
I thought it was classic to see Cheney in a wheelchair at the inauguration. KARMA?
  • Bigcheese · 10 months ago
Ah ha ha ha ha ha ha, Yeah by getting all warm and fuzzy with the bad guys and closing down all our remote stop gaps that have prevented London and Madrid like attacks the Golden One will make us safer, it was like when Clinton took such a historically strong stand when the towers were attacked the first time, and then his solid response to the bombings of our soldiers, lobbing tomahawk missiles at Africa and stuff while he's cuddled up with fatty and some cigars.
At least we know Cheney will shoot you if you're not watching out, ha ha ha ha.
  • Sean · 10 months ago
    Pathetic Journalism.

Seems like he got nothing to write.
  • ABCAmel · 10 months ago
Such is the length of yours and my reply....
  • luvwknd · 10 months ago
Who really gives what a POS VP like Cheney has to say, surely not Obama or his administration!
Dick & George were the stupidest human's to ever run this country, too bad someone don't take them both out, and out for good!
Obama and his administration will correct all the retard repuklican stuff GWB & his croonies did so we can get back to the core values of America!
  • Sean · 10 months ago
Obama's Administration is just bunch of crooks.

He hired a tax fraud head of IRS.

He should hire one of his thugs as Chief Justice and Attorney General.

Bring all the crooks to his administration.
  • ABCAmel · 10 months ago
Grow up, people.... Let us closely scrutinize your taxes from the last eight years! We'll find something... If your accountant handled things well, that is in your favor, mistakes very well could've been made. Deductions are as subjective as opinions in some cases.

"Fraud" is a strong statement for "mistakes" Let's all look in the mirror before expressing malicious intent - eh?
  • Cru · 10 months ago
We've heard it, and grown tired of it for 8 years now.
I think the election showed how much be believe the threats these days.
The security level is NEVER green, we're all used to yellow as baseline, we don't need Cheney cautioning us. At this point we're already conditioned - It's priced into the stock.
  • chris · 10 months ago
Thank you so much for unbiased, intelligent analysis of this liar.

Wasn't it Clinton's fault that 9/11 happened on Bush's watch? That makes it Bush's fault if anything happens in the first 2 years of the Obama's watch. Clinton warned Bush about the looming threat too.

Cheney will spend the rest of his life 'in a non-descript suburban office building' hoping for the mushroom cloud to validate his partisan paranoia
  • Cheny S Dick · 10 months ago
I was hoping this guy fades in dark like the "DARK CHARACTER" he is. We need to send him to Gitmo. This is THE EVIL ONE. He was sent as CURSE to this country. THEY HAVE VIRTUALLY DESTROYED THE COUNTRY.
  • Will · 10 months ago
If bush would have site quiet and did Attacked no other country. Then still you people would be like he did nothing when our people got killed.

I am glad he killed those bastards who wants to kill our citizens.
  • ABCAmel · 10 months ago
    Which "Bastards?"
  • MC · 10 months ago
Title should have read "Republicans are liars."

If W and Dick had coordinated a measured response against Al Qaeda in Afghanistan Osama would still be gone by now, we would still be firmly in control of Iraq and Iran would still be at bay. Wasn't it republicans that criticized Clinton for lobbing those tomahawks at Osama while he was still in Africa.

Sure there have been no attacks on American soil, but W & Dick have left the world far worse off than before.
  • Tom Lorincz · 10 months ago
If you think Cheney is wrong ALL the time you are crying wolf. He is very right about Gitmo and your blind to the fact these inmates are dangerous. If only one causes damage, and one did, it will not be all the self rightous pompous ass liberal garbage you throw at him. You seem to forget or never have admitted we are at war and except for the toxin bile you produce have never really helped stop the terrorists only encourage. Jane Fonda made a traitor of her self in the Vietnam War but you make her look saintly.
  • Potomac Current · 10 months ago
"Self-righteous pompous ass liberal garbage"...that would include, in your view, things like insisting on evidence before locking up human beings and throwing away the key?

Dick GO BACK and keep away from bankrupting my country.
  • SS · 10 months ago
Obama wants to release those people from gitmo. So that he can hire then in his administration.

Change is here. No more ethics. Just crooks running the country.

Wow! i wonder how blind and stupid people can be who still can't see what kind of change obama is bringing.
  • ABCAmel · 10 months ago
Obviously - the answer is folks like you, "SS"
  • McKathiki · 10 months ago
Does SS stand for some of your heroes, the Gestapo?
  • Harold · 10 months ago
It appears we have another Biased KneeJerk Liberal Rag that has appeared from nowhere and will end up going back to where it came from. Cheney is correct and you people need to pull your head out of your rearend. If Obama thinks that everything is going to be a wonderful day in the neighborhood he better wake the hell up. At least during the 7.5 years there has been no attacks on this country. Let us hope and pray that this continues during Obama's term.
  • m · 10 months ago
Terrorist needs to be contained before they have technology to attack us again.

it's like now or never. Obama needs to understand that it's a very crucial time. Right now we are involved. and we can finish this.

Once we got out the cost will be much higher to contain terrorist again.
  • Craig · 10 months ago
Harold, remember that everything that doesn't shoehorn into your myopic, paranoid, world view is part of the vast liberal media conspiracy.

That said, if the next one will be the Obama administration's fault, then 9/11 was the Bush administration's fault. Ready to swallow that one Republican's?
  • Bush. · 10 months ago
"Spencer Ackerman doesn't know how to write articles" that should be the title of this news

I hate when media just wants to put words in your mouth. Just give me the damn news. Not your bloody opinions.

    These fucking journalists are pathetic.
  • Bush. · 10 months ago
    Democrats are nothing but Communies.
  • Michael · 10 months ago
    Hope over fear.
  • DC · 10 months ago
    Craig,

The reason why it will be obama's fault is because he's changing all the policies and releasing all the terrorists from Gitmo.
Are you really that stupid to understand this.

    Bush wasn't releasing any.
  • Morell · 10 months ago
Talk about stupidity! How did the (exaggerated) number of releasees which Cheney cited get out of Gitmo? Escaped? They were released.
  • Craig · 10 months ago
I think that maybe, just maybe it's a little more complicated than that. That's the problem though, when your political opinions fit on bumper stickers.
  • afg · 10 months ago
Dick Cheney should be arrested for lies he said and war crimes.
  • DC · 10 months ago
Those bumper stickers has more intellegence that your whole life summed up.

My Question is do you really think releasing those terrorist is the best decision?

What do you think those jihadies are going to do after being released?

Maybe you didn't knew anybody who lost their life during 9/11.
  • McKathiki · 10 months ago
There was not even enough evidence to charge the ones who were released after years of illegal detention. I bet if your son or brother or wife or friend was arrested for suspicion of a crime, held without bail, mistreated or tortured, never charged - you would be the first one out on the streets screaming bloody murder. Nobody is talking about releasing jihadists - they are talking about compiling the evidence, charging with a crime, giving them trials and incarcerating them if convicted. Knowing someone killed on 9/11 does not give any American the right to ignore our Constitution and both national and international law.
  • afg · 10 months ago
Cheney has the blood of lots of peopple in his hands.
  • afg · 10 months ago
Mr Cheney how much money you or your friends made by invading Iraq?
  • Tired of BIas · 10 months ago
Shut up you stupid liberal piece of work. Bush is gone! Stop with the rhetoric against him and his people already, it gets tiring. How about you try practicing true journalistic standards and eliminating your personal political views from your reporting. Or do you even remember your supposed to be fair and balanced and unbiased? Or are you tweaking your privates over Obamas election and letting it reflect in your reporting?
  • McKathiki · 10 months ago
As usual, a right winger who cannot think of a coherent argument or defense, resorts to name calling and nasty innuendo. I'll bet you fly the flag, too, the one that stands for freedom, justice, truth and free speech. Big on symbols, short on integrity.

  • mike · 10 months ago
One last time for those who just cannot get it:: the whole world and its intelligence agencies and most of Saddam"s generals believed he had wmd. Inasmuch as hundreds of these illegal combatants have been released and it only took 19 maggots to bring down the towers...well if you are smart enough, do the math.
You folks on the left won the election; now you own the war on terror; forget about cheney. Obama will look like michael jackson doing the moonwalk after the next attack, especially if that attack can be traced to one your gitmo "victims."
  • McKathiki · 10 months ago
We have federal prisons here in the US which are more than capable of holding onto the "maggots" forever if need be. However, this is still the United States where we stand for freedom, justice and truth. These "maggots" are human beings, perhaps evil, perhaps not, and one of them was a child when sent to Gitmo. Each and every one of them deserves to be charged with a crime and charged with a fair trial. I feel sorry for you, sir, talking about us folks on the left. It is you folks on the right that have almost succeeded in destroying our country - our prosperity and everything we stand for - not the "terrorists", not the "liberals", not the "maggots" who brought down the towers. You, sir, and your cohorts are to blame for what has happened the past 8 years and we, sir, are the ones you have to clean up your mess.
  • Gina · 10 months ago
The reason people believed it (mainly americans because our leader lied to us )The Bush adminstration SUCKED.

WOW mike - you sound like you want there to be another attack -
  • TRUTH TO THE UGLY ONES · 10 months ago
    Who do you work for?
  • JM Potratz · 10 months ago
Cheney knew of the 2001 attack by June of that year. That's why he told the oil company executives at his private meeting with them that they would have all the oil they wanted from Iraq. Saudi intelligence people, well connected to the Bush family, had discovered the plot months before that meeting. Cheney and Bush decided to let the attack go forward so they could instigate their agenda of fear and control of the Unitied States people. He should be taken to The Hague and tried for war crimes.
  • Stevan · 10 months ago
I think the logical fallacy is being missed here. Regardless of whether it's true or not, if the policies of the Bush Administration have, as Cheney claims, resulted in "at least 61 of the inmates who were released from Guantanamo during the Bush administration" going back into the business of being terrorists, then exactly how is that an argument for keeping the current Guantanamo system in place? The very numbers Cheney cites seem to argue against Gitmo and the Bush detainee policy, not for it.
  • wofat · 10 months ago
were it not for the us treating the rest of the world as it does ,these 19 maggots wouldnt have had a reason to attack anyone

We can try waterboarding or we can serve cup cakes to detainees. Doesn't matter. This was true decades before and will continue for generations.

Having been in Manhattan on 9/11, no one wants to through that hell again. No matter what their political allegiance.

    >> No attacks since 9/11 under Bush. Obama has a long long way to go to match that.

Joe, that's pure stupid. Ever heard of cause-and-effect fallacy? Here's one...There hasn't been an attack since Nancy Pelosi has been Speaker of the House. I take it you don't think she was responsible for that. Yeah, right...wonderful W and Dick have protected us all from the world like a warm blanket for all these years. BS.
  • McKathiki · 10 months ago
Bush was the President when 9/11 happened on his watch after his administration had been warned of imminent attack. It is pathetic that Americans think they own the tragedy of such misguided "terrorism". Northern Ireland, Israel, England, Greece, well, almost every other country in the world has been suffering violent attacks on civilians by violent extremists for, well, forever. We need to get over ourselves and join the world community to bring about positive changes and eliminate terrorism at its roots: poverty, ignorance and superstition.
  • tired · 10 months ago
No attacks since 9/11 under Bush. Obama has a long long way to go to match that.

Obama did more positive in 1 month than Bush did in 8 lousy years!!

Cheney needs to stfu and leave the country. Parachute his .... to the middle east.
I bet then he will want it to end real quick.

The reason there are no attacks in the US is because they are having a field day in iraq.
Iraq had nothing to do with it and there still is no proof of it to this day. We need to be where it matters.
  • RABO · 10 months ago
Hmm, there were none before 9/11 either. And that was before we were even looking for terrorists. How do you explain that?
  • Jimmy Montague · 10 months ago
Cheney has nothing to lose: If he's wrong, he doesn't have to take any heat for being wrong because he's no longer in power. His image and his legacy are both in the pits anyway. On the other hand, if he's right, his image and his legacy both get a boost and he gets to tell Obama: "I told you so, dumb ass!"

Nothing ever seems to be Bush/Cheney's fault. When 9/11 happened, it was the previous administration's fault. If it happens again, it will be the future administration's fault. History will note that Bush/Cheney only made the problem worse. They had 8 years to go about this the right way, and they failed miserably. Obama is just cleaning up their mess, and that could take a decade or more. The entire world is worse off for what Bush/Cheney did. We all have to live with that. History will condemn them, and no amount of rewriting of their ruinous legacy will change that. Get used to it Cheney, you're legacy stinks.

Someday the truth about 9/11 will see the light of day. I pray he's around to answer why he took control of NORAD in April of 01' & why our interceptor jets were scrambled to the Canadian border to play "War Games" the morning of 9/11. This was a contrived attack - the NSA knew of it in advance & chose to let it happen. Who are the real terrorists?!!!

  • McKathiki · 10 months ago
Many of the Somalian "pirates" were motivated by rich countries' dumping toxic waste, including nuclear, in their coastal waters. Many were fisherman who lost their livelihoods when the fish were killed in the toxic stew. Not to mention the effects upon their families who lived along the shores upon which the mess washed up. Maybe you should educate yourself a little more before you speak.

9/11 was not a false flag operation but it sure was allowed to happen to take away the freedoms of the American people and to conquer resources of other nations. Terrorism will be a threat as long as our secret services continue to stick their nose in other countries business and overthrow or kill their elected leaders. Until we reign in our leaders, military and secret services there will continue to be attacks on American soil. So in a sense Cheney is right but in a sick, delusional way.

All anyone had to watch were the sworn testimonies of the 5 CIA officials who each stated that they attempted several times to get clearance to get the guys they knew were in the US training to fly passenger planes... but each time were told to "Stand Down" and/or threatened with their jobs by their superiors. Once you realize that the CIA headquarter's building only says "The George Herbert Walker Bush Center For Intelligence" on it... you know who did ALL of it. The CIA had better access to those 19 men than Osama Bin Laden ever had. End of story. That Cheney and Bush and all of the other liars, murderers and theives are not now being treated like post-war Nazi command is not only absurd - it is down right the most scarry thing imaginable. Who needs "terrorists" when people like that can kill MILLIONS on their own suspitions which are loaded with self interests and walk away without so much as a traffic ticket?
  • Annie · 10 months ago
If there is another terrorist attack, Cheney should be the first one investigated as instigator. He is nothing but a selfish old man who shoots his friends in the face and would throw his own mother under a bus to further his agenda.

This is stupid! Since we've had no attacks since 9/11, this "proves" the policies set up by the Bush administration worked...are you kidding me? How do we know we even needed those policies? What will happen if Obama turns back all of these policies and we still are not attacked, what then? Without a transparent government, we really don't know what helped and what didn't. As far as not having another attack, BRING-IT-ON, as an American citizen, I would much rather look my enemy in the eye and kill him myself then have a bunch of war profiteers making millions of my tax money to keep me "safe".

Cheney is saying the same thing that Osama Bin Laden says in his messages. Both are saying that Al Qaeda terrorists will attack the US. Lock him up in Gitmo for questioning. I saw pictures of Cheney meeting with Sadam Hussein in the 1980's. We need to interrogate Cheney to find out what he is hiding.

NEO CONSERVATIVES HAVEN'T GOT THE SENSE THAT GOD GAVE A CROWBAR.

THIS BULLSHIT THAT BUSH PREVENTED TERRORIST ATTACKS AFTER 9-11 IS A LITTLE HARD TO SWALLOW WHEN YOU CONSIDER THE ANTHRAX ATTACKS THAT KILLED 3 AND PUT 10 PEOPLE IN CRITICAL CARE. OR PERHAPS THE TERRORIST SNIPER WHO KILLED 7 AND WOUNDED TO IN THE WASHINGTON BELTWAY.

FURTHER EVIDENCE THAT BUSH WAS INEPT AND INCOMPETENT AND THAT HIIS KOOL-AIDE KOOKS WILL NEVER GIVE UP THEIR ATTEMPT TO REWRITE HISTORY.

NEO - LIBERALS CONTINUE TO ATTEMPT TO MAKE THIS THE UNITED SOCIALIST STATES OF AMERICA. They appoint TAX CHEATS and Lobbyists after campaigning on the HIGH MORAL GROUND. They want to close GITMO and get those terrorist back on the battlefield to kills yet more innocent citiizens and American. You talk about inept - Look at the appointments so far - we have somebody running the IRS that didn't pay his taxes. You have ZERO credibility.
  • Rick · 10 months ago
The 9/11 attacks came after 8 years - the previous attack was in 1993. These guys are in no hurry, unlike us in our "24 hour new cycle world". So Dick, you didn't keep us safe - you and your buddy George have now succeeded in increasing membership of those who wish to do us harn. History will record that Dick & George has caused our country more harm (in blood and treasure) than any terrorist attack.
  • Richard · 10 months ago
If some of you can take your blinders off and look at what is going on in the rest of the world terror is everywhere. And have any of you ever seen what happens when the people were fighting in Iraq catch one of our soldiers. Cuba starts to look pretty good compared to being cut up or beheaded. You don't see anybody crying about their civil rights when our soldiers are being brutalized. Most of you who are the loudest haters of Bush and Cheney have never been involved with the type of people who wish to kill as many of us as they can. You have been insulated from most of brutality in the world by living here in this country which from most of your opinions is such a vile and evil place. It's a real shame that we have to listen to such ignorant thoughts from people that would leave this country defenseless in order to please public opinion in foreign countries.
  • Rick · 10 months ago
It seems like you are the one with the blinders on - we shouldn't have been in Iraq in the first place and second, it's not foreign public opinion, it's the Amerian consitution!

    WE ARE NOT DEFENSELESS-Richard

We do not need a crap ton of liberty stealing policies to "keep the homeland safe". Let them come, bring the battle to our shores, and into our neighborhoods. The pussies on the far left will get killed, the selfish bastards on the far right will get killed and those of us from the middle that call ourselves Americans will stand up and fight to defend what George & Dick tried to destroy in the name of protection, our Constitution. Please, take my rights and money to keep me safe because I'm just a defenseless American.

The United States has found 500 chemical weapons in Iraq since 2003, and more weapons of mass destruction are likely to be uncovered, two Republican lawmakers said Wednesday.

"We have found weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, chemical weapons," Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pa., said in a quickly called press conference late Wednesday afternoon.

Reading from a declassified portion of a report by the National Ground Intelligence Center, a Defense Department intelligence unit, Santorum said: "Since 2003, coalition forces have recovered approximately 500 weapons munitions which contain degraded mustard or sarin nerve agent. Despite many efforts to locate and destroy Iraq's pre-Gulf War chemical munitions, filled and unfilled pre-Gulf War chemical munitions are assessed to still exist."

For everyone who thinks there have not been any "terrorist" attacks on the United Stated during the Bush administration, think again. The entire point of attacking the WTC was to cause financial injury. Apparently it worked too. Due to a lack of government oversight and general incompetence other forces have been allowed to continue with the goal of our economic collapse. The biggest problem seems to be that the ones who orchestrated 9/11 are far more intelligent and organized than our political leaders. Luring Bush into a was with Iraq was clearly part of the master plan. Who they are is anyone's guess. I feel we are definitely not being told the whole story. At least stop trying to tell me this is all the work of a small band of disgruntled Arabs.

Remember the constitution says We The People not Them The People. Being in Iraq was not being discussed at this time ,but being there was probably the right thing to do considering we want to give everybody their rights. Were not the half a million killed by their own government good enough reason to go in, or do those people not rate high enough. Only the rights of murdering terrorist matter.

This is Cheney code for "I'm planning another attack against the Country".

Make no mistake about it, Dick Cheney knows exactly what he's talking about. The only thing more dangerous than Al Qaeda is this man's deviant, megalomaniacal criminal mind. Dick Cheney is public enemy #1. He had the motive (Haliburton in Iraq), the means and the opportunity (Co-Commander in Chief) to orchestrate 9/11. Same goes for present day America.

If Obama/Holder know what's good for them, they'll have him brought up on charges and placed into some sort of protective custody -- for all of our sake.
  • proud citizen · 10 months ago
I agree... if dems were not too busy cleaning up the mess the BUSH's and Cheney's left of America.... maybe they would have time to bring them up on charges of war crimes and high treason.. the least they deserve !! altho... This folks is a TRUE fruitcake and 9/11 conspiracy therorist. In regard to Halliburton: ...The Clinton administration made the same calculation in its own dealings with Halliburton. The company had won the LOGCAP in 1992, then lost it in 1997. The Clinton administration nonetheless awarded a no-bid contract to Halliburton to continue its work in the Balkans supporting the U.S. peacekeeping mission there because it made little sense to change midstream. According to Byron York, Al Gore's reinventing-government panel even singled out Halliburton for praise for its military logistics work...

Evil is as evil does.... CHENEY = EVIL

  • Tucker · 10 months ago
    Psychology 101:

People view other people through their own filter. Cheney cannot possibly know how or what "terrorists" think or feel.

Cheney, like his counterparts in the Bush administration, is what he claims others to be.

It is very disturbing that Americans twice elected a man (Bush) who surrounded himself with murderers, terrorists & gangsters (by their own unintended admissions).

Obama and his team may not be any better (it appears they have some ethical issues of their own related to their own greed and power-mongering), but they cannot possibly be any worse.

Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Perle, Wolfowitz, Rice, et al should all be in prison where they belong.

Cheney is the poster boy for the criminally insane.

Psychopaths of all kinds have a future in the Republican party.

check the facts: The War Powers Resolution of 1973 is a United States federal law providing that the President can send U.S. armed forces into action abroad only by authorization of Congress or if the United States is already under attack or serious threat. The War Powers Resolution requires that the president notify Congress within 48 hours of committing armed forces to military action and forbids armed forces from remaining for more than 60 days without an authorization of the use of military force or a declaration of war.

Neo Cons have so bastardized the original intent of DECLARATION OF WAR ... that we have sadly sacrificed many young women and men for the personal gains of the Neo-Cons and their financiers. When will the US Congress get up enough guts to declare the "War Powers Act" as Unconstitutional. Maybe Obama can get up enough nerve and ignore the Neo Con hawks ... that this is a utterly stupid allowance of the Executive Branch of Government. Thousands died in Vietnam .. for what? ... the Communist hegemony ? Have you been to Wal Mart whose shelves are stocked with Communist goods? What a joke! This brings a new meaning to "Privatize the gains (money for warmongers) and Socialize the losses (kill young kids of a generation)".

Chickenhawk Cheney learned the hard way. Senior Clinton administration officials reportatedly warned their Bush administration counterparts in late 2000 that Al Qaeda posed the worst security threat facing the nation. The Bush administration was slow to act.
They said the warnings were delivered in urgent post-election intelligence briefings in December 2000 and January 2001 for Condoleezza Rice, who became Mr. Bush's national security adviser; Stephen Hadley, now Ms. Rice's deputy; and Philip D. Zelikow, a member of the Bush transition team, among others.

Dick Cheny being out of office is a good thing. He is only out for himself and his rich frjiends, just like Bush was. Obama is trying to correct their mistakes and bring the country back from their negigent leadership and he wants to accuse him of putting us in a position to invite terrosist attacks!!!. If america can't provide for americans, and the country keeps on their path ( Bush & Cheny) then we are doomed anyway. LEAVE OBAMA ALONE. He is doing just fine...It will take time to undue the damage that Bush and Cheny created. We need to cut govt. spending and Gitmo is a good start. Send them back to their country and let them deal with them and the worst ones, throw them in a secure prison and throw away the key. Take Cheny with you.
  • Ben Bayer · 10 months ago
Herr Cheney may be right. But being right the way Hitler thought he was right is dead wrong. I spent eight years in the U.S.A.F. intelligece service, a year in Pakistan in 1960, and considerable time assigned to not only an "emergency reaction continguency unit" but six months temporary duty with the National Security Agency. I assume Herr Cheney was doing something extremely important himself while I was serving my countrty in the "active" military, but our path's did not cross.
It really scares me that people like Dick Cheney get into seriously important positions in this country while many commoners like myself with equal or superior intelligence and ability are seldom heard from while serious matters are being debated.
Since Herr Cheney did not run for president, I assume he does not want to be actively involved in the daily affairs of this nation any more. Can we not honor his apparent wishes and write him off along with all the other bad debts that accumulated during his tenure. I'll even give him what little is left of my savings if he will shut his mouth and ride off into any sunset he chooses, preferably in some other country.

I greatly look forward to Mr. Cheney's making future headlines when he is tried as a war criminal for his involvement in the deaths of tens of thousands of Iraqi civilians and American soldiers since 2002 and his eager support of torture for those people illegally detained at Guantanamo Bay. I'm writing my Ohio Senators and House Representatives to express my strong thoughts and feelings that this country should not allow war criminals to escape justice while receiving governmental pensions for disservices to humanity.

I don't know why everybody make such a big deal out of Dick Cheney being a past CEO of Haliburton. He was involved with politics in different capacities much longer than he ran Haliburton. At least he did something that shows he could be commercially viable and not only able to spout out political wisdom's. Time will only tell if he would sell military secrets to the Chinese like Bill Clinton. Maybe he will interfere with diplomacy in the middle east like Jimmy Carter. If you wish pain and death on our own counties leaders because you don't agree with their philosophy of leadership, that really gives a good window into your mind. I do not wish to have somebody running our country that thinks like that. It is a hard job to be in a leadership role in this country with all the hatred from the left or the right and you never are able to please everyone. I would believe Dick Cheney when he say's that there might be another attack on our country before I would listen to somebody that can only spew hate and wish pain and death on people that they don't agree with.
  • jay · 10 months ago
You mean like Rush hoping that the current president will fail and the feeble response from the Republicans followed by the even lamer apologies to Rush for having the audacity to say he was wrong? Cheney's prediction of an attack is lame, terrorism has unfortunately become a fact of life in the rest of the world and it has now reached America. Undoubtedly there will be more attacks and it takes no great incite on his part to predict it.

He was a nasty small minded man willing to trade our freedoms for security. If we are willing to allow people like him to trample foreigners rights could we expect our rights to be preserved when we travel? Once we are willing to take away the rights of foreigners it's only a short step to trampling the rights of Americans to catch pedophiles in the name of protecting children. Then we can start torturing murder suspects to get confessions. A little bit more and a little bit more until we're beating little old ladies for not putting enough money into their parking meters. Our founding fathers put all those personal protections for the rights of individuals in there for a reason.

Some of Mr. Cheney's points are correct. The United States is still the top target for Islamic extremists. Mr. Cheney does not have a long history of being deceitful. He is open and honest in his views. That he ran the vice presidency the way he did - that was secretive but a lot of the issues he dealt with deserved secrecy. Openness and honesty ARE NOT typical of the Democratic party. The current regime will not successfully handle the threat of terrorism.
