The Washington Independent: Dallaire Presses for Extradition of Canadian Detainee

flipper · 1 year agoAs a retired general,Mr. Dallaire should know the difference between a child soldier and a terrorist thug such as Mr. Khadr....Child soldiers are 1.Under direct command of a superior officer ,2. Wearing a military uniform (to identify his status),3. Tortured or coerced in some way (drugs ,Physical beatings etc.)to join the cause. In Mr. Khadr's case none of these factors were present..He was simply on a family trip to afghanistan. His father was killed in this same country and his other brother was paralyzed (BOTH IN THE SAME FIREFIGHT AGAINST U.S. FORCES!)The media up here have glommed onto this case as a "cause celebre" and are not reporting fairly as to the facts of this case.Khadr's military counsel has stated in the papers "It is immaterial whether or not KAHDR threw the grenade,he is a child soldier and as such he should not be prosecuted in court".This debate continues to rage on, but the final arbiter to this whole fiasco will be the military tribunal in Guantanamo.I ,for one will not shed any tears if this terrorist is found guilty after a fair trial..The son of a terrorist family (all AL-QUEDA supporters) will have to pay for all their sins.Justice will be served!!!

Medical uniforms · 5 months agoI'm impress by the author regarding the blog post.“When you’ve had an AK-47 barrel rammed up your nostrils by a kid whose eyes are glazed, a 12-year old with his finger on the trigger, with all the other kids going wild, and to this day you believe that he didn’t pull the trigger because he saw the chocolate bar in your hand” is a powerful impulse to enforcing the international Convention on the Rights of the Child on the involvement of children in armed conflict, Dallaire said. That happened to him in Rwanda. “It’s perverse, it’s gross — girls used as sex slaves and bush wives; boys shooting and maiming. … It’s a perversion of the adult perception of what children are and should be. It’s inconceivable, but it’s also factual.”
