The Washington Independent: Clinton Running Like Old Guard Humphrey

It's ironic that the first presidential vote I cast was for George McGovern when I was senior at Boston University, but I always held Hubert Humphrey in high regard. I was fortunate to have classes with the likes of Howard Zinn and Murray Levin. I am surprised at the constant berating of Hillary Clinton by you and the media that characterizes her as employing a desperate strategy. Politics is a vigorous process and the voters in the primaries should decide. You talk of Hillary Clinton trying to subvert the process via supergelagates, but it's curious that Barack Obama is aggressively pursuing them with no mention from you or the media. Hubert Humphrey had the already lost an election in 1968 and came into 1972 with

some prior history. It seems like party establishment is anathama to you, but here is a newsflash. Barack Obama was supported by the Illinois Democratic Party. According to your thesis, Hillary Clinton as Hubert Humphrey before her was just too old when the "young turks" showed up and the voters should categorically dismiss her as a relic of antiquiy. It's funny but I guess I have finally become "old school".

I would like to remind everyone that Hillary Clinton is the best qualified candidate for the job of President, regardless of the mainstream media's excessive favoritism toward Obama satirized by Saturday Night Live. A man with Clinton's credentials would not have been mistreated by teh media as she has been. A woman with Obama's credentials would not be running at all. Nobody gets a job without having experience. If you need surgery, do you hire the surgeon who's just out of medical school or the one who has performed the operation many times? This is a question that ought to be in the minds of all delegates to the Democratic convention.
