The Washington Independent: Another Palin Investigation Kicks Off in Alaska

  • Diogenes · 1 year ago
So why the heck is Todd Palin managing Sarah Palin's aide Frank Bailey? Todd wasn't elected to anything. This guy sounds like Nancy Reagan with boots. What other meddling was the First Dude doing in Alaska state government?
  • elHombre · 1 year ago
The initial investigation is being overseen by Obama's man in the Alaska Senate, Democrat Hollis French. French has said the investigation is to give Palin an "ethical black eye," another admirable use of public funds by Dems. Sort of like investigating baseball.

The so-called "another" investigation is more of the same.

It's hard to imagine that one could "improperly disclose" information that appeared in "public divorce records" now isn't it? Additionally, Wooten disclosed the records himself to the news media.

It is highly commendable that you folks apparently find a sympathetic figure in Wooten, a cop who has been found to have: 1) Driven a patrol car while drinking alcohol; 2) tasered his 11-year-old stepson; 3) Killed a moose without a permit (his department supposedly enforced poaching laws, but he was still never prosecuted for the offense -- a big deal in Alaska); 4) Threatened to put a bullet in Palin's father for supporting her sister by hiring a divorce lawyer. I was in law enforcement for 30 years. Wooten would have been fired from an appropriately run department. The Palin's efforts to call attention to this flawed cop is one of the reasons I will cross party lines to support her.

your comments are wonderfully orchestrated by the Republican machine. When you realize what it is that you are voting for it may very well be way too late. Palin is a liar. She claims not to support the bridge to nowhere but she actually requested the funds. Then she kept the money. And whether something is in the public domain does not make it ok for personnel records to be accessed. And if Todd, that man's man who wanted Alaska to secede from the USA, had access to Wooten's records, or if anyone on her staff did it certainly raises big questions. Sort of like how the US Justice Department is on the hot seat for purposefully disqualifying anyone who registered or supported a democrat and instead pushed for hiring only "good Americans."

So you would rather not discover ways to put American electricians, Carpenters, Scientists to work but rather bid off the limited carbon resources in some of the more important forests in the upper north. Also these companies use molecular engineers along with physicist's and chemical engineers. not union men and they are proud sponsor's of migrant workers, along with human trafficking. But because your a cop and these guys see an opportunity to thwart the machine that has quite literally over taken the infrastructure of Alaska, and for you feel that this is your tipping point. Wow your kids must beat each other off, seriously do you take meds or something, Poor Ethics is what has just destroyed America and all you have in your mind is "This WOMEN(tool) is a strong person, when she lies she never turns back." That is exactly why a women who lets personal drama interfere with her career, has not yet understood the Moral elegance of Duty and Honor...

The man running the investigation was appointed by the REPUBLICAN majority committee long before Palin was picked as McCain's VP candidate.

You really think Obama has the power to see into the future and make the opposing party do his will?

    Wow -

    elHombre,
you've got a lot of nerve, dude. "Obama's man in the Alaska Senate". That's a riot. Does Senator Obama have a man in every state Senate doing his bidding? Wow, why's he even bothering to run for President? If he's got that much power to control every state now? You'd think that's a lot less pressure and stress just to keep being the puppet master from afar.

Funny, as I wrote before, this investigation was begun long before Palin was on the 'radar' as V.P. pick, and truth is that if Obama had picked Hillary, McCain wouldn't have picked Palin. Sorry, Palin fans, but the truth hurts. And, then, the Neo-Con ads would have been "Change, sure, but NOT this much change all at once. What's next a Jewish Speaker of the House, a Gay Secretary of State, is this what you want for YOUR America? No! We need to keep the white males in charge at all costs just as it has always been, so should it always be." But, since Obama threw the Republicans a curve and picked Biden, well, then they took a gamble on Palin. And Lord only knows now how'll they'll survive this moronic pick. No candidate for VP has ever had a criminal investigation for abuse of power going into the election, and that's probably because, until now, no one would ever be so stupid as to risk choosing such a person for fear it would sink the chances of the ticket.

Finally, elHombre, take this little quiz and add up the points associated with each answer:

    1) If Sarah Palin were on Obamas ticket would you vote for Obama?
    [1] Yes
    [2] No

    2) If Joe Biden were undergoing a criminal investigation for abuse of powers and avoiding subpoenas, would you agree that this should be set aside until after the election?
    [1] Yes
    [2] No

    3) If one of Obama's daughters were pregnant (assuming they were old enough to be pregnant) before marriage, would you say, "Wow, that's great, that's the Christian way to be having pre-marital sex. That family is a bunch of solid Christians!"
    [1] Yes
    [2] No

    4) If Obama had never been anywhere outside the USA until he was elected a US Senator from Illinois would agree that he has great foreign policy experience?
    [1] Yes
    [2] No

Ok, let's see how you did. Total up your points.

8 points--you are a true 100% dyed in the wool, neo-con republican no question
7 points--at least on one issue examined, you are honest
6 points--Jeepers, wow, this is scary, are you sure you're a Republican? You need to listen to more hours of Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, and Rush Limbaugh each day. The brainwashing isn't sticking in your mind very well.
5-points--Uh oh, you might want to re-think your party allegiance, sounds like you might be more ethical than you think or than your party would want you to be right now, that is, assuming that the party still is on the side of neo-con religious fanatics working to turn the USA into a Christian Theocracy
4-points--Uh, the fact is that you have morals and principles, you don't waffle on the issues, you clearly stand by your opinions and have facts to support them, and it's time for you to either: (a) vote for Obama and help bring real change to this nation or (b) just sit this one out, maybe you're not ready to deal with what's happened to you, you've been brainwashed and abused and none of the lies you were told about lower taxes, better wages, more money to trickle down to the middle class, just haven't proven out to be true--so, just stay home, don't vote, and either way, then you won't have to take the blame for what happens next, you can get the bumper sticker printed up that reads, "I didn't vote!" Then you cannot be blamed for the failures of McCain (already too many to enumerate) nor can you be blamed if Obama doesn't turn out to be the success the rest of us pray he will.

    elHombre,

Nice try. This isn't something ginned up by the opposition. The calls were recorded by a government official who felt he was being pressured by the Governor and/or her family, thru Bailey, an aide to the Governor. Recorded. Not just someone's word against someone else's. Recorded. Squirm all you want, but the net is tightly set .

Once again I'll ask, if it was actually at the behest of Todd Palin, why is the unelected spouse of the governor directing interoffice operations in the Alaska state government? If it wasn't Todd Palin, then why is the campaign saying it was? Somebody has trouble with the truth.

Whether the officer was a saint or a sinner is a separate matter. But a governor, using governmental power to settle a personal score, is plainly unethical. Remember, recorded.

    Cheers,
    Diogenes

Palin has now told us what her reason was for firing her Police Commissioner that "proves" she didn't do it as a vendetta. She now claims to have fired him because of a trip Monegan planned to Washington in July to seek federal money for investigating and prosecuting sexual assault cases.

Why was this a firing offense? According to Palin's legal filings it was an "unauthorized" trip. Oops - the approval forms signed by Palin's office authorizing the trip have now been published by ABC news.

So now we hear that he was insubordinate because Palin wanted to seek earmarks for HER pet projects and was afraid that any request for funding for sexual assault investigations might diminish her haul! .. and that sleazy move is HER OWN DEFENSE?

Wow - when your best defense is fighting getting help for rape victims I can see why you would hire lawyers and try to stonewall!

That Wooten is still a State Trooper in Alaska is a disgrace to Alaska. You can file partisan charges all you want, but Americans will never back a man who tasered a child.
  • Tyke · 1 year ago
Actually we can agree that Wooten is a jerk and still recognize that after he was investigated and disciplined for any and all charges found to have merit (other charges were found to have NO merit) it would have been illegal for the Police Commissioner to go back and retroactively punish him AGAIN. The police department, Wooten and the union agreed to his punishment and Wooten served the resulting suspension.

Palin then chose to try to bully in a retroactive additional punishment as a vendetta because she had gotten more power. Very Cheney like.

The "partisan" charges against Palin were initiated by a 100% vote of the Alaska Senate which has a REPUBLICAN majority . Continuation of the investigation and issuance of subpoenas was decided by a committee that has a REPUBLICAN majority. Darn those partisan REPUBLICANS going after Palin - right?
  • The Tim Channel · 1 year ago
You do know the WHOLE truth to the tasering don't you? It was at the
request of the kid and it was set to test setting. Happened TWO years before
it was ever mentioned and then only in a DIVORCE filing.

    Another troll fail.

    Enjoy.
  • Jason Madison · 1 year ago
Victoria, not going to agree or disagree because whether Wooten was a good or bad guy is immaterial and actually a distraction from the wrong doing here in this case if there was any. The wrong doing is in firing Wooten's boss because he refused to fire Wooten. If a mid-level boss does his or her job and evaluates and employee and he comes through, then in most states, it's illegal to fire a person. The same would hold true for Wooten's boss. You cannot fire him because he didn't fire your former brother-in-law like you wanted. That is called an abuse of power and is criminally actionable in a civil suit.

Republicans who support Palin need to get her to fully disclose and co-operate with this investigation if they have a hope to get her elected. There's no way she's going to be elected with this big of a scandal in the hopper. It's bad enough to have a scandal like this once you're in office, but she's not even in office. Electing a person who's refusing to allow her staff to co-operate with state government issued subpoenas is tantamount to being in contempt of court oneself. We will not elect people who find themselves above the law. We've had enough trouble with people who thought they were once elected to elect one who already believes she is. If McCain's hired gun lobbyists are advising her to delay getting involved in this mess as long as possible that's really bad advice. Watch for Palin-McCain numbers to drop in polls every day until this is resolved. She should face the music. If she's really done nothing wrong, why delay, why hide? She's making herself and her family look more and more guilty. She'll have to resign the Vice-Presidency anyway to go to prison for abuse of power in Alaska anyway. She's innocent until proven guilty. If she's innocent, though, why not cooperate. This is not witch hunt. This was going on before she was announced as VP candidate and she was co-operating then. I don't want her to win no way no how no Palin, but I do respect the person enough to say, if she's innocent, let her prove it. If not, she should fess up, and put this behind her. Her political career is probably over either way though.

Guys, dont you get it? Nothing matters, history record, honesty, policies, reason, nothing matters...The presidential race is after all what we have observed in the last months still tight...You have criminals on one side and honest and selfless people on the other, and the race is 50/50....

You can digg atleast a 1000 republican lies and corrupted conducts right now, but they just doesnt matter...I see that after all this, 97% of republicans are still selflishly dedicated to their party and all they need and care to justify their loyality are a few sweet words and promises...And thats it, they are done...

So stop with all this roumers and facts about republicans..Althow most of them are true, it is just not working..Instead, democrats should get dirty !..

The scandals are on the other side with Obama. Could not go straight at Colombia University, except as a transfer student. Could not go to Harvard Law Review, except by his color and not on the merits at the difference of Condolezza Rice. Only went into politics by linking to Wright, that absurd race-monger, feeding on grants. Was involved in the Chicago Annenberg project for 120 millions, to improve education. Nothing happened. Dumped an american name Barry Dunham for Barrack Hussein Obama and he says he is a christian. Organized picketing as a community organizer just to shake down radio stations or others. Is the puppet of Soros and Winphrey. WIll not say more.
A president like him, is the South Side Chicago at the national level, with this hypocrisy (yes yesterday to Wright, no today), corruption, racism, dead people voting or bused 200 miles away. Entitlement to no good people. He has no value based on the merits
  • Denis · 1 year ago
Yes terragord, you can justify anything in your head if you want it....Obama is a rasist and eliteist right? And humans walked together with dinosaurs, you have a proof, you found their footprints !..
  • terragord · 1 year ago
The fact you can not answer these questions( no electability on merit, association with disreputable people, shaddy tactics, dishonnesty) does not surprise me. That is the reason why you are talking about dinosors. Dinosors have nothing to do with Obama. Obama has nothing to do with Paleontology. Please do your fact checking and check the Annenberg project, Wright Church, Rezko affair. He has just been financed by Winphrey, Soros, some hedge funds guys. They wish to be ambassadors. Clinton sold everything. They go to him. 1 million for ambassadorsip to Bahamas. He is open to buy and people without principles associate with this man without principle. He said he wishes public funding and now he says no. Just keep talking about dinosors and they will eat your lunch

You should always provide links on your comments to prove all of your assertions.
btw...how many points do you get from the McCain campaign for your posts?

Now, what about the issues that Americans care about in this election.
  • Nick Weston · 1 year ago
    Buddy-

you're making the rest of us conservatives look bad with your spelling dude! I do however commend you for refusing to add "proof" to your posts! These libs are soo demanding.
So PLEASE stay on message and don't get sucked into talking about policy! This is death for us conservatives as you know...
Obama is SCARY, how dare he be so "smart" and use "facts." We will crush him with our accusations! McCain has shown he will use anything to attack, he doesn't even need facts. This is the strength we NEED from a leader!
And don't let these crazies attack our lord Jesus by accusing the earth of being older than 6000 years!~ I mean, snakes could talk back then!
Bring on the sleaze, please. The last thing we need is some smarty-pants with "ideas" and "dreams" and "hope!" Just keep calling him elite, that seems to be working. Just don't let anybody know that his mom was on food stamps while McCain was marrying a beer queen and buying 13 cars and 7 houses, they'll just jump all over that one.
Oh, and he's BLACK! What else do you want to know!
Thanks so eloquently displaying the reasoning that keeps the Republican party going! Lastly, I"m guessing you're white. I wouldn't tell anyone that either.
Keep up the fight brutha-power to the white man! And screw Opra Winefry and Mutha Tersa.

    OMG!

    McCain's Questionable Ties

    Jim Hensley, Convicted Felon
A WWII bombadier, Hensley returned to the United States with an injury sustained while flying over Europe. While recovering, he met Margueritte Smith and left his wife and two-year old daughter for Smith whom he married in 1945. That same year, he and his brother Eugene began working for Kemper Marley, owner of United Sales Company in Phoenix and United Distributors in Tucson, and purported mafia boss. In a 1953 New Mexico State Police report, Kemper Marley, 'is reputed to be the financial backer for the bookies' and 'owned a wire service formerly operated in connection with bookmaking of the Al Capone gang.' And though never charged, Marley is suspected of ordering the car bomb assassination of journalist Ken Bolles in 1976. In 1948, Jim and Eugene Hensley were indicted for falsifying liquor records to conceal illegal distribution of whiskey against post-war rationing regulations. Both men were convicted in U.S. District Court on federal charges of conspiracy and Jim Hensley was also convicted on seven counts of filing false liquor records. In 1953 Jim Hensley and Kemper Marley were again charged with falsifying liquor records. This time Jim was defended by future Supreme Court Justice William Rehnquist. Both men were acquitted. In spite of being a convicted felon, Jim Hensley was somehow granted a state liquor license in 1955 (and later a federal liquor license) to found a beer distributorship. Hensley later switched to distributing exclusively Anheuser-Busch beer, and by 1980 Hensley & Co. Distributors and Hensley & Co. Wholesale had made Jim Hensley a multi-millionaire. Read more about McCain and Hensley in the article Haunted By Spirits by John Doughtery and Amy Silverman.
HOW CLOSELY IS McCAIN TIED TO HIM: Hensley was Cindy McCain's father, John McCain worked for Hensley as Vice President of Public Relations for Hensley & Co. when he and Cindy first married, and Hensley used his money and influence to launch John McCain's political career.

    G. Gordon Liddy, Convicted Felon
Liddy served four and a half years in prison in connection with his conviction for his role as mastermind of the Watergate break-in and the break-in at the office of the psychiatrist of Daniel Ellsberg, the military analyst who leaked the Pentagon Papers. Liddy has acknowledged preparing to kill someone during the Ellsberg break-in 'if necessary'; plotting to murder journalist Jack Anderson; plotting with a 'gangland figure' to murder Howard Hunt to stop him from cooperating with investigators; plotting to firebomb the Brookings Institution; and plotting to kidnap 'leftist guerillas' at the 1972 Republican National Convention — a plan he outlined to the Nixon administration using terminology borrowed from the Nazis. (The murder, firebombing, and kidnapping plots were never carried out; the break-ins were.) During the 1990s, Liddy reportedly instructed his radio audience on multiple occasions on how to shoot Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms agents — telling listeners, 'Go for a head shot; they're going to be wearing bulletproof vests' — and also reportedly said he had named his shooting targets after Bill and Hillary Clinton. Liddy has donated $5,000 to McCain's campaigns since 1998, including $1,000 in February 2008. In addition, McCain has appeared on Liddy's radio show during the presidential campaign, including as recently as May. An online video labeled John McCain On The G. Gordon Liddy Show 11/8/07 includes an audio discussion between Liddy and McCain, whom Liddy described as an 'old friend.' During the segment, McCain praised Liddy's 'adherence to the principles and philosophies that keep our nation great,' said he was 'proud' of Liddy, and said that 'it's always a pleasure for me to come on your program.' Liddy called for the murder of federal agents, served time in jail, plotted murder - and after that, John McCain applauded him and took his money
HOW CLOSELY IS McCAIN TIED TO HIM: In 1998 Liddy hosted a campaign fundraiser for McCain and McCain has accepted campaign donations from Liddy over the last a decade, most recently in February 2008. McCain has appeared as a guest on Liddy's radio show multiple times, most recently in November 2007 during the presidential campign when Liddy greeted McCain as 'an old friend.' During the interview, Mccain stated he was 'proud' of Liddy and praised Liddy for his 'adherence to the principles and philosophies that keep our nation great.'

    Charles Keating, Convicted Felon
Charles H. Keating, Jr., is the former chairman of the Lincoln Savings and Loan Association. The 'Keating Five' were five United States Senators accused of corruption in 1989, igniting a major political scandal as part of the larger Savings and Loan crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s. McCain and four other senators were accused of improperly aiding Keating., chairman of the failed Lincoln Savings and Loan Association, which was the target of an investigation by the Federal Home Loan Bank Board (FHLBB). McCain received $112,000 by 1987 from Keating and Keating's relatives and employees to McCain's Senate campaign, more than any of the other Senators. In addition to campaign contributions, McCain's wife and her father had invested $359,100 in a Keating shopping center in April 1986, a year before McCain met with the regulators. It was also found that the McCains, sometimes accompanied by their daughter and baby-sitter, had made at least nine trips at Keating's expense, sometimes aboard the American Continental Corporation (parent of Lincoln) jet. Three of the trips were made during vacations to Keating's opulent Bahamas retreat at Cat Cay. McCain also did not pay Keating for some of the trips until years after they were taken, after he learned that Keating was in trouble over Lincoln. The Lincoln Savings and Loan's collapse cost taxpayers $3.4 billion After a lengthy investigation, the Senate Ethics Committee criticized McCain for 'questionable conduct,' and did not mete harsher punishment because of McCain's future presidential ambitions.
HOW CLOSELY IS McCAIN TIED TO HIM: John McCain was a close personal friend of Charles Keating, McCain and his family vacationed at Keating's Bahamas mansion, Cindy McCain had investments with Keating.

    Raffaello Follieri, Convicted Felon
In late August, 2006, McCain celebrated his 70th birthday aboard a yacht, the Celine Ashley, rented by Raffaello Follieri and his then-movie star girlfriend Anne Hathaway. Follieri, who posed as Vatican chief financial officer in order to win friends and investments, pleaded guilty in a Manhattan district court to conspiracy to commit wire fraud, eight counts of wire fraud and five counts of money laundering. As part of the plea, Follieri admitted to misappropriating at least $2.4 million of investor money and redirecting it to foreign personal bank accounts that were disguised as business accounts.
HOW CLOSELY IS McCAIN TIED TO HIM: McCain spent his 70th birthday aboard Follieri's yacht in August 2006.

    Rep. Rick Renzi, Under Indictment
Renzi, Arizona Congressman 2002-2008, is currently under indictment for conspiracy, wire fraud, money laundering, concealment of money laundering, transactions with criminally derived funds, extortion, insurance fraud and criminal forfeiture. In robocalls to assist Renzi in his re-election bid in October 2006, McCain stated, 'Rick has represented the first district of Arizona with tenacity, honesty and integrity beyond reproach.' The indictment also names business associate James Sandlin, and Maryland attorney Andrew Beardall. The indictment also refers to two companies involved in the transactions, Company A and Investment Group B. Prosecutors allege Renzi criminally concealed information about land deals to both Company A and Investment Group B, and used his seat on the House Natural Resources Committee to try to force their hand. The indictment says Renzi was trying to help his business associate, Sandlin, finish paying off an $800,000 loan Sandlin owed to Renzi. Renzi was in financial straits and needed the money and also states Renzi also never claimed the $733,000 in his 2006 House financial disclosure statements.
HOW CLOSELY IS McCAIN TIED TO HIM: Until February 2008, Renzi was co-chair of McCain's Arizona 2008 presidential campaign, member of McCain's 2008 National Leadership Team, and a personal friend. In October 2006, McCain stated, 'Rick has represented the first district of Arizona with tenacity, honesty and integrity beyond reproach.'

Rick Davis, McCain Campaign Manager & Freddie Mac Lobbyist
Davis is currently John McCain's campaign manager in his bid for the U.S. presidency. Davis' lobbying firm — Davis Manafort — received payments of $15,000 a month between 2006 and August 2008 from Freddie Mac, the troubled mortgage giant that was recently placed under federal conservatorship. As the mortgage crisis has escalated, almost any association with Freddie Mac or Fannie Mae has become politically toxic. But the payments to Davis's firm, Davis Manafort, are especially problematic because he requested the consulting retainer in 2006 — and then did barely any work for the fees, according to two sources familiar with the arrangement who asked not to be identified discussing Freddie Mac business. Aside from attending a few breakfasts and a political-action-committee meeting with Democratic strategist Paul Begala (another Freddie consultant), Davis did 'zero' for the housing firm, one of the sources said. Freddie Mac also had no dealings with the lobbying firm beyond paying monthly invoices — but it agreed to the arrangement because of Davis's close relationship with McCain, the source said, which led top executives to conclude 'you couldn't say no.' Freddie Mac's roughly $500,000 in payments to Davis & Manafort began immediately after Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae in late 2005 disbanded an advocacy coalition that they had set up and hired Mr. Davis to run. From 2000 to the end of 2005, Davis received nearly $2 million as president of the coalition, the Homeownership Alliance, which the companies created to help them oppose new regulations and protect their status as federally chartered companies with implicit government backing. That status let them borrow cheaply, helping to fuel rapid growth but also their increased purchases of the risky mortgage securities that were their downfall.
HOW CLOSELY IS McCAIN TIED TO HIM: Davis is currently John McCain's presidential campaign director, and McCain told Newsweek in 2007 'Rick is a friend, and I trust him.'

Charles Black, Jr., Senior Advisor To McCain Campaign & Lobbyist For Dictators
    Currently a chief strategist and senior adviser for John McCain's 2008 presidential campaign, in June 2008, Charlie Black stated in an interview with Fortune magazine that another terrorist attack on the United States would 'Certainly it would be a big advantage to him.' Black is a registered as a lobbyist and is chairman of one of Washington's lobbying powerhouses, BKSH and Associates. His clients have included right-wing guerrilla leader Jonas Savimbi of Angola and such dictators as Ferdinand Marcos of the Philippines and Mobutu Sese Seko of Zaire, as well as Nigerian General Ibrahim Babangida, Somali President Mohamed Siad Barre, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the countries of Kenya and Equatorial Guinea, among others. As of February 2008, Black said he is still being paid by his firm and does work for clients in his 'spare time,' recusing himself from lobbying McCain: 'I not only do not lobby him [McCain], but if an issue comes up that I have a client on, I will tell him that and stay out of the discussion.' Though McCain often portrays himself as an anti-lobbyist politician, his senior advisor has earned more than $57 million dollars since 1998 as a Washington lobbyist. Some of his other clients include: Alcoa - $100,000; Amerada Hess Corp. - $80,000; American Financial Group - $80,000; Asoex Chilean Exporters Assn. - $40,000; AT&T - $1,185,000; AT&T Inc - $720,000; Bristol-Myers Squibb - $690,000; ChevronTexaco - $140,000; Chilean Salmon Farmers Assn. - $100,000; Colombian Textile & Apparel Industry - $80,000; Comasa, de la Optica - $80,000; Contran Corp. - $505,000; Freddie Mac - $820,000; Glaxo Wellcome Inc - $40,000; GlaxoSmithKline - $590,000; Global Strategies Group - $180,000; Honeywell International - $220,000; Importers Service Corp. - $540,000; International Franchise Assn. - $290,000; JP Morgan & Co - $140,000; JP Morgan Chase & Co - $724,000; Lockheed Martin - $487,500; Mortgage Bankers Assn. of America - $140,000; National Assn. of Mortgage Brokers - $60,000; National Foreign Trade Council - $40,000; Occidental Petroleum - $1,650,000; Occidental Petroleum - $1,650,000; Philip Morris - $1,292,500; Tobacco Quota Warehouse Alliance - $120,000; Yukos Oil - $155,000;
HOW CLOSELY IS McCAIN TIED TO HIM: Charles Black is McCain's current chief strategist and a senior advisor to his 2008 presidential campaign. Black said he is still being paid by his firm and does work for clients in his 'spare time'.

    Richard Quinn, White Supremist
Beginning in 1981, Richard Quinn became the Executive Editor in Chief of the racist Southern Partisan Quarterly Review and as was still listed as the owner of the magazine as recently as 2005. Like McCain did originally, Quinn opposed the Martin Luther King holiday, writing it 'should have been rejected because its purpose is vitriolic and profane.' In 2000, People For American Way called on McCain to fire Quinn, listing his disparaging of Nelson Mandela as a 'terrorist,' his promotion of David Duke ('What better way to reject politics as usual than to elect a maverick like David Duke?') and his selling of t-shirts praising Abraham Lincoln's assassination. McCain wouldn't fire him. He rejected the guilt-by-association charge, defending the man and disavowing the publication.
HOW CLOSELY IS McCAIN TIED TO HIM: The Washington Post this month described Quinn as the 'longtime adviser [who] directed the senator to a crucial victory in the Palmetto State.' Politico reported that McCain paid Quinn's firms $184,000. An article that was posted on McCain's website in 2008 — that is no longer available — described Quinn as 'a senior political consultant to the McCain campaign.'

    Pastor John Hagee
In a 2006 address, Hagee stated, 'The United States must join Israel in a pre-emptive military strike against Iran to fulfill God's plan for both Israel and the West... a biblically prophesied end-time confrontation with Iran, which will lead to the Rapture, Tribulation, and Second Coming of Christ.' Over the years, Hagee the right-wing pastor has waged 'an unrelenting war against the Catholic Church' by 'calling it 'The Great Whore,' an 'apostate church,' the 'anti-Christ,' and a 'false cult system.'' During an interview with National Public Radio, Hagee also blamed Hurricane Katrina on gays, saying the devastating storm 'was, in fact, the judgment of God against ... New Orleans.' The city, he continued, 'had a level of sin that was offensive to God' because 'there was to be a homosexual parade there on the Monday that the Katrina came.'
HOW CLOSELY IS McCAIN TIED TO HIM: Despite McCain's statement in 2000 that 'Neither party should be defined by pandering to the outer reaches of American politics and the agents of intolerance, whether they be Louis Farrakhan and Al Sharpton on the left, or Pat Robertson or Jerry Falwell on the right,' McCain spent more than a year actively seeking Hagee's endorsement. In February 2008, McCain stated, 'I'm very honored by Pastor John Hagee's endorsement today.' Only after public outcry did McCain repudiate Hagee.

    Pastor Rod Parsley
Parsley has stated that 'Islam is an anti-Christ religion that intends through violence to conquer the world.' Parsley has further stated that 'The fact is that America was founded — I'm gonna stagger you right now — America was founded in part with the intention of seeing this false religion destroyed.' He also said that Mohammed received revelations from demon spirits.
HOW CLOSELY IS McCAIN TIED TO HIM: McCain actively sought Parsley's support to get evangelical votes. In February 2008, McCain stated, 'I'm truly honored today to have one of one of the truly great leaders in America, a moral compass, a spiritual guide — Pastor Rod Parsley.' View Video. Again, after public outrage over Parsley, McCain was forced to repudiate him.

    Todd Palin
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's husband, Todd, twice registered as a member of the Alaskan Independence Party, a fierce states' rights group whose primary goal is for the state of Alaska to secede from the United States. Sarah Palin herself was never a member of the party, according to state officials. Founded in 1973 by Joe Vogler, Vogler stated, 'I'm an Alaskan, not an American. I've got no use for America or her damned institutions.' 'Keep up the good work,' Sarah Palin told members of the Alaskan Independence Party in a videotaped speech to their 2008 convention six months ago in Fairbanks. She wished the party luck on what she called its 'inspiring convention.'
HOW CLOSELY IS McCAIN TIED TO HIM: Todd Palin is the husband of McCain's vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin, Sarah Palin has attended their conventions and Sarah Palin herself sent them a videotaped address for their 2008 convention, telling them to 'keep up the good work.'

    Andrew McCain
Andrew K. McCain, sat on the boards of Silver State Bank and of its parent, Silver State Bancorp, both in Nevada, but resigned in July citing 'personal reasons,' corporate filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission show. Andrew McCain also was a member of the bank's audit committee, responsible for oversight of the company's accounting. Regulators on Friday, September 5, shut down Silver State Bank, saying the Nevada bank failed because of losses on soured loans, mainly in commercial real estate and land development.
HOW CLOSELY IS McCAIN TIED TO HIM: Andrew McCain is John McCain's son from his first marriage to Carol Shepp, the wife John McCain cheated on and left behind for Cindy Hensley.

"Could not go to Harvard Law Review, except by his color and not on the merits"

Yeah that can be seen because he graduated in the lowest 1% of his class.

No wait a minute, that was McCain. He got those special "my daddy's important" affirmative action advantages in spite of a consistent display of lack of intellect, ability and/or willingness to work instead of having everything fed to him on a silver spoon.

Obama graduated magna coom laude (deliberately misspelled to avoid very dumb spam filters) and was elected to the extremely prestigious position of Law review Editor because of his superior performance and capabilities (even by Harvard law School standards!)

Barack Obama is the name on his birth certificate and the name he has gone by his entire life.He used a nickname through grammar school and high school. Maybe we should insist that BOTH candidates use their HS nicknames? McCain was called Punk McNasty by HIS classmates. Yeah I'm OK with calling Obama Barry as long as we always call McCain Punk McNasty!

"Could not go to Harvard Law Review, except by his color and not on the merits"

You don't get *elected* PRESIDENT of the Harvard Law Review because of color, you John McLiars club member. That position is first and foremost on MERIT.

Terragord, got some really bad news for you, but there's not one shred of truth in anything you say here proving rather that you, indeed, are the puppet, not Barack Obama. You are the puppet of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and the infamous shlock jock Glenn Beck! Wow, aren't you proud of yourself that you can listen to these three neo-con morons with a pulpit and spout back the dogma propaganda they want you to. Do you sleep well at night! There's an ancient saying, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." You better hope that most people don't follow this rule when dealing with you in life. P.S. I just read a great quote the other day that you might want to heed before you post again in your lifetime. "Before you post, record what you say and play it back to yourself. You might slap yourself silly after listening to how stupid you sound."

Oh please, like you could even GET into Columbia University (ranked 8th in our entire nation), even as a transfer student. You can't even spell it properly. And "could not go to Harvard Law Review, except by his color"? Obama was chosen to HEAD the Harvard Law Review as Editor-in-Chief. If you knew anything about law schools, you'd know that the school's namesake law review is the most difficult law review to get on, and then to be chosen as editor-in-chief is an even greater feat! You need to get over yourself and maybe start looking at the educational background of some other people (beginning with yourself) before you start ridiculing the education of some other people who put in hard work and determination to get where they are.

Hope they deal with the Wallstreet crooks with half this alacrity. Instead of calling it a government bailout, let's be honest, it's a taxpayer payout. Aren't some of those on the Obama campaign trail part of that iniquity?

Why are the Republicans try to protect this shameless Governor of Alaska. If she is clean she should come out and face the nation. So much for for Russian neighbor who is communicating with Russians by light signals.

I may not be from Alaska but I read, and I think that in the near future the Palin's will be in deep legal troubles, steming for the troopergate, per diem, charging for her family travels, and finally the house they built, and was there corruption there also. The FBI must be on all of these issues. Sad isn't it that so many politicians from the State of Alaska are sent to prison, more pending. We don't see this in any of the other States.

What's the point to become Vice-President when you have so many things in your past that just waits to be published and go to court?

Sarah Palin should get a good lawyer. Maybe Hillary Clinton?

Good Post. Been reading a while. Another good place to find a good lawyer is at http://atlanta-lawyers.info
