It is very difficult for a child to lose his citizenship. According to U.S. law, "a person under the age of eighteen must convince a U.S. diplomatic or consular officer that he/she fully understands the nature and consequences of the oath of renunciation, is not subject to duress or undue influence, and is voluntarily seeking to renounce his/her U.S. citizenship."

The Department of State keeps careful track of such things, and they are on record as saying that he never lost his citizenship or was an Indonesian citizen.

And don't forget, we're not just talking about the Obama State Department. Obama returned from Indonesia during the first term of the Nixon administration -- that's a lot of State Departments under a lot of presidents keeping his secret!

Not true. Obama was a student in a school in Indonesia during their civil war. The only way to be admitted to an Indonesian school at that time is as a citizen of Indonesia. He would have had to renounce his American citizenship in order to do that. Even if he reapplied for his citizenship later on - according to the constitution - he would no longer be considered a natural born citizen but rather a naturalized citizen. Thus, he is ineligible to be president.

Only his mother had U.S. citizenship; his father did not, and so Obama did have dual citizenship at birth. But his British/Kenyan citizenship expired at age 23, and there was no need for him to confirm anything.

One can lose U.S. citizenship only in specific ways, and none of them apply to Obama.
